Abstract

Parenting among young mothers has slipped off from offline to online activities. This is related to the development of information technology, exposing the social reality by new kinds of media. One of these new media derivatives is social media which was considered superior in the speed of distributing messages. More so, social media is also considered as a special space to share parenting experiences among young mothers. Research showed that social media which later became the "public space", has in fact been regarded as a more credible medium for discussion, exchanging experience, and some even use it as a contemporary label in order to maintain prestige. It is the result of two general motives which in this study referred to as rational motives and emotional motives.

Abstract

Since the enactment of Presidential Instruction No. 3 of 2003 on policies and strategies for e-government development, the government is required to be able to utilize the progress of information and communication technology through the development of public services based on e-government. At the national level, many local governments have initiatives to implement e-government. However, conditions in the field found differences between regions for various reasons, such as the limited budgetary factors, infrastructure and human resources. The developed e-government simply indicates that policy compliance is not accompanied by quality improvement. This research was conducted with the aim to map the key elements of successful e-government development in Sleman District as well as identify problems in the implementation of e-government so that the right solution can be formulated. This research use descriptive qualitative method with informant from 28 web manager of OPD in Sleman regency, data analysis technique utilize flow model analysis technique. Keywords: e-government, public service, Sleman Regency

Abstract

Judging from the social situation in Indonesia, horizontal conflict with religious sentiment was escalated since Pilkada that was held simultaneously on February 15, 2017. The issue of alleged blasphemy of Islam by Ahok rolling the snowball effect of politics that could threaten national security. The use of social media is escorted by the government through the Electronic Information and Transaction Act (UU ITE). Religious conflict management is also supported by all stakeholders including netizens who are expected to be able to use social media wisely and responsible for what they are disseminating and not easily provoked by information spread across social media.

Abstract

The aim of this research to identify messages in growing up milk TV commercial. This study use content analysis and semiotic analysis from Roland Barthes who emphasis interaction between textual with personal experiences and cultural behavior. Impact of growing up milk advertisement give  ‘message’ to mothers as audience target that growing up milk consumption make their children as a winner, super kid, genius, best achiever on study and their dreams. The advertisement was constructed children intelegent reality on mothers which correlated growing up milk consumption as seen on TV commercial.  Keywords: semiotic analysis, media effect, advertising, children, television

Abstract

Ethnic Chinese are ethnic minorities in Indonesia since independence became a frightening thing for the Indonesian nation. This study aims to explain discrimination against ethnic Chinese in Indonesia through analysis in Sapu Tangan Fang Yin Movie. This research uses a qualitative approach through semiotic analysis Roland Barthes. The results of this study indicate the existence of symbolic violence in Sapu Tangan Fang Yin Movie, discrimination arises in the form of swearing, metaphor, and visual became a real discriminatory tool in the ethnic Chinese existence.

Abstract

Indonesia re-entered the new round of politics in 2018–2019. The vibrant political atmosphere is also reaching the public spaces, both in mass media and in online media. Although they often encounter differences due to the different political choices they face, audiences who have face-to-face discussions have the opportunity to clarify different conversational biases. However, many are discussing in the digital space, where it has the potential to cause a lot of message biases. The problem is political flaming often accompanies opinion bias. This study aims to find the characteristics of political flaming against Cak Imin since he runs as Vice President Jokowi unilaterally. Another goal is to see the attributes of the platform used in political flaming through content analysis approach. The results of this study show that political flaming against Cak Imin has a subtle tendency and jokes. The use of cultural elements is not intended as an expression of intolerance. Keywords: political flaming, reader comments, online media

Abstract

Online transportation application is the solution for public transportation in Indonesia. It also created opportunites for various start up companies in Indonesia.  NguberJEK created by PT UberJEK is one of the examples. PT NguberJEK focuses its marketing by reaching out to the municipalities in Java. However, business competition is now beginning to be seen in the municipalities of Magelang. It causes by the presence of larger online transport applications such as Gojek and Grab that are beginning to reach small towns across Java. To survive the competition, PT NguberJEK requires a mix strategy marketing with a focus on promotional components. PT NguberJEK's promotion strategy is expected to attract market attention.

Public sphere is a theory who created and popularized by Habermas who focus on a historical studies of a critical discussion as a feedback to social realities consists of politic, culture, and anything else that interests the citizen happen in 18th century. Emergence of the internet as a new media make cultural change and transfrom the public sphere into something that has a big scale who can access anywhere and anytime. This is a point of the attention to see how shape, character and the problem about the public sphere in the digital era.

Abstract

Social media has become a public sphere that used by today's society. The development of social media, supported by the increasing of smartphone user made people who had been reluctant to read to be ‘a good student’ in reading everything that are uploaded in social media, including Islam’s thought, theory, or doctrine. Over the past decade, Islam has been through some popularity stage, started from ‘nationalist’ Islam until what’s popular today as Islam 'according to shari'at'. Social media took a big role in the development of popular Islam. One of them is through the emergence of preachers who do da’wah activities in social media with all its advantages and limitations, such as Felix Siauw. This paper was trying to understand what discourse that led Islam ‘according to shari’at’ became popular today by observing and analyzing Felix Siauw’s Instagram account. As a result, this paper found out that this new ‘ustaz medsos’ is part of the cause that creates popular Islam as we know it.

Abstract

Each media has a different way of packing a news before it is presented to audiences. The same event can be interpreted differently by the audience because the media can construct the same news in a different meaning. This can result in the framing of a news reporter. This study aims to analyze the frame of news conducted by online media metrotvnews.com and liputan6.com in packaging the second well drilling news by Lapindo mud. Researchers would like to see how the reporting framework of Lapindo Second Mud Disaster by metrotvnews.com and liputan6.com. This research uses the method of analysis of framing model by Robert N.Entmant with qualitative descriptive approach. This research is the analysis of news text, so researchers take the news drilling second Lapindo mud during the period of January 2016 from online portal metrotvnews.com and liputan6.com. The theory used is the political economy of the media and the media and the news of disasters. Keywords: lapindo mudflow, framing analysis, online media, disaster journalism theory, economic theory and media politics
