Abstract

The set together with the operation maximum (max) denoted as and addition (+) denoted as is called max-plus algebra. Max-plus algebra may be used to apply algebraically a few programs of Discrete Event Systems (DES), certainly one of the examples in the production system. In this study, the application of max-plus algebra in a serial manufacturing machine with a storage unit is discussed. The results of this are the generalization system max-plus-linear equations on a production system that is, in addition, noted the max-plus-linear time-invariant system. From the max-plus-linear time-invariant system, it can be obtained the equation which is then used to determine the beginning time of a production system so the manufacturing machine work periodically. The eigenvector and eigenvalue of the matrix are then used to find the beginning time and the period time of the manufacturing machine. Furthermore, the time when the product leaves the manufacturing machine with the time while the raw material enters the manufacturing machine is given and vice versa are obtained from the max-plus-linear time-invariant system that is can be formed in the equation .

Abstract

The variant of Chebyshev-Halley’s method is an iterative method used for solving a nonlinear equation with third order of convergence. In this paper, we present some new variants of three steps Chebyshev-Halley’s method free from second derivative with two parameters. The proposed methods have eighth-order of convergence for and and require four evaluations of functions per iteration with index efficiency equal to . Numerical simulation will be presented by using several functions to show the performance of the proposed methods.

Abstract

The quality of human resources can be improved through education. The Islamic University of Indonesia provides various selection patterns for prospective new students, one of which is PBT. Questions in PBT need to be analyzed to get quality students. The length of time to analyze the performance of questions that include the level of difficulty, distinguishing power, and distractor effectiveness in PBT Period 2 2020-2021 UII is one of the reasons for making computer programs using Microsoft Excel 2013. The methods used are simple random sampling and One-Way ANOVA analysis. The results of this study can make it easier to process data and analyze the performance of the questions with the help of the OASIS application which can be used as material for future evaluation. Analysis of the performance of the questions is classified as very difficult and difficult at the level of difficulty, the category is bad on the distinguishing power, and the effectiveness of the distractor is functioning properly, and there is one of the scores obtained by the test takers from three types of questions with the choice of the Faculty of Medicine and not choosing the Faculty of Medicine of UII which has the average is different from the others.

Abstract

This research develops a mathematical model of three species of food chains between prey, predator, and top predator by adding intraspecific competition and harvesting factors. Interaction between prey with predator and interaction between predator with top predator uses the functional response type II. Model formation begins with creating a diagram food chain of three species compartments. Then a nonlinear differential equation system is formed based on the compartment diagram. Based on this system four equilibrium points are obtained. Analysis of local stability at the equilibrium points by linearization shows that there is one unstable equilibrium point and three asymptotic stable local equilibrium points. Numerical simulations at equilibrium points show the same results as the results of the analysis. Then numerical simulations on several parameter variations show that intraspecific competition has little effect on population changes in predator and top predator. While the harvesting parameter predator affects the population of predator and top predator.

Abstract

In this research, we want to find the optimal compositions of the daily food menu for breastfeeding mothers at the minimum cost. These problems are formed into linear programs by including some available data, like the price of food in the traditional market, the nutritional content of each food, and the recommended nutritional adequacy rate. After that, we count the linear programs by using the Simplex method with the help of the LINDO solver. The output of this research is the weight of food consumed by mothers to meet their daily nutritional needs. Based on the data collected, we obtain the 36 food combinations that include the staple type of food (rice), the type of side dishes (pindang fish, tilapia fish, mackerel tuna, chicken eggs), the type of vegetables (cassava leaves, katuk leaves, moringa leaves), the type of fruits (melon, watermelon, orange), and the type of nut (peanuts). Next, we analyze the model according to the groups of breastfeeding mothers in the first and second 6 months. From this research, we obtain that the optimal compositions of the daily food menu for breastfeeding mothers in the first 6 months are cassava leaves. Meanwhile, the optimal compositions of the daily food menu in the second 6 months are rice and cassava leaves.

Abstract

The eggs of purebred chickens always become the major choice for satisfying people’s needs for nutrients. The way to process them is easy, and the prices are relatively cheap for all people. Since the eggs of purebred chickens are in high demand, a device that can detect their qualities more correctly and accurately is needed, compared to the conventional method. Objective: An automatic egg quality detector was developed through a camera module of pixy cmucam5 by employing ROI and template RGB methods. The implementation of the ROI method could optimize the system performance, thereby accelerating the process of egg quality detection carried out by the preprocessor of the pixy camera. ROI analyzed the egg image only on the desired pixel area, not the whole pixel. As a result, the ROI method yielded a device and system that could detect the egg quality within the average speed of detection time -/+ 2ms per egg out of 4 trial categories. Meanwhile, the template RGB method was able to improve and ease the ability of the pixy camera module in detecting the egg quality. When the RGB index of the egg was < 234, then the egg was of good quality. Contrarily, when the RGB index of the egg was > 234, the egg quality was in a bad category. The contribution of this paper is to develop a low-cost automatic egg sorting and detection system with the advantages of flexibility in device placement, due to the use of camera modules and object detection accuracy, as well as better response time than using color sensors. Accordingly, the template RGB method produced a device and system which could detect egg quality with average accuracy of 90 % and average error of 10% out of 4 trial categories. And, the results of the trials upon the detector system indicated success in detecting the egg quality.

Abstract

Dengue, a vector-borne disease, threatens the life of humans in tropical and subtropical regions. Hence, the dengue transmission dynamics need to be studied. An important aspect to be investigated is the probability of extinction. In this paper, deterministic and stochastic dengue epidemic models with two-age classes have been developed and analyzed, and the probability of extinction has been determined. For the stochastic approach, we use the Continuous-Time Markov Chain model. The results show that vaccination of adult individuals leads to a lower number of adult infected individuals. Furthermore, the results showed that a higher number of initial infections causes a low probability of dengue extinction. Furthermore, factors contributing to an increase in the infection-related parameters have to be minimized to increase the potential reduction of dengue cases.

Abstract

This study proposes the use of the shoelace formula to determine the area of the regencies and towns/cities in the province of Central Java, which is based on the boundaries of the cities, regencies, (sub-) districts, and villages using the database from the GADM (Global Administrative Area). The results obtained are then compared with the Karney polygon method. With the shoelace formula, the area of Central Java province is 34365.40 km2 (4.77% wider than the reference area), while the Karney polygon method yields 34379.48 km2 (4.81% wider than the reference area). The area calculated using the boundaries of sub-districts is closer to the reference area if compared to using the boundaries of the regencies/cities and of villages. MdAPE values of 6.46 % and 6.54 % are obtained using the shoelace formula and the Karney polygon method respectively.

Abstract

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), becomes one of the references or indicators used to assess the development of students' knowledge and skills in each member country of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The results of the PISA survey in 2018 placed Indonesia in the bottom 10, indicating that the implementation of the national education system has not been successful. This underlies the need for a more in-depth study of the factors that influence PISA data scores not only statistically qualitatively but also quantitatively which is still very rarely done. The data structure of the PISA survey results is complex, which involves multicollinearity, multivariate response variables, and random effects. Thus, it requires an appropriate statistical analysis method such as the multivariate mixed linear regression (MLMM) model. In this study, secondary data from the results of the 2018 PISA survey with Indonesian students as the smallest unit of observation were used as sample. School is used as an intercept random effect which is assumed to be normally distributed. Multicollinearity is overcome by selecting independent variables based on AIC and BIC values. Estimation of variance and random effect parameters was performed using the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method. Based on the estimator of the variance of random effects for the response variables of mathematics, science, and reading literacy, it was obtained 1548.12, 1359.39, and 1082.48, respectively, which explains the significant effect of each school as a random effect on the three response variables.
