Hilirisasi dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tidak terbatas pada konsep, metode, objek material penelitian dan kajian, tetapi juga aspek aspek penguatan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mengidentifkasi dan menyelesaikan permasalahan. Bakti Budaya terbit dua kali setahun pada bulan April dan Oktober dan diterbitkan oleh Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The district of Gunungkidul was chosen as a potential area for the adoption of a new approach in Community Engagement (CE) program. Participatory mapping, reinforced by the application of the Geographic Information System (GIS) as a new approach, became a breakthrough amid the vastness of humanities, which still seems to be fragmented in each study program. Terefore, a platform is neended to optimize the potential of FIB UGM to address the diversity of cultural aspects in a community. Tis CE is designed to empower both parties at once, ie community and college. For the community, recollecting of their cultural properties can be a powerful capital for potential development with a structured and accessible database. Tis cultural richness helps them to initiate and implement the sustainable village development programs. Strengthening and developing their identity and integrity of local culture can be achieved if their overall potential can be mapped. For the college, CE becomes a model that can provide more mature readiness in actualizing its “tri dharma”, either through the preparation of human resources and methodological reinforcement.

Te existence of ancient grave sites in Banyuwangi save the potential of historical data to uncover the origins of Javanese civilization. However, the sites have been damaged by the activity of looting graves in the last ffteen years. Tis Community Engagement Activity aims to identify socio-economic issues and the substance of the object of the site study to stop looting and raise the potential of ancient tombs academically and politically concerning historical heritage management policies, as well as ocioeconomically for the local community. Community Engagement Activities was conducted in November 2015. Te team found that the looting of grave sites by residents was motivated by economic problems. Nevertheless, the problem network is rooted in the political aspect of the absence of a policy that places the ancient site’s grave as an area of cultural heritage. Tis issue is closely related to the low level of awareness of government and citizens. In addition, there are complex issues concerning the ownership and management of the land area of the grave site, which is a coﬀee plantation.

A village having potential of cultures, especially language, literature, and performing arts is getting more difcult to be found in this millenium era. When the condition is owned by a certain village, it is natural to be accompanied in growing and strengthening the self-awareness of the villagers by maintaining, preserving, and developing those potentials. One of the villages that has potential of Javanese cultures, especially language, literature, and performing arts is Beji Village. Te location of the village is in Ngawen District, Gunungkidul, DIY.Observation and inventory of problems, mapping the problems, taking action in the form ofgiving motivation, counseling, education, and opening the discussion and consultation as widely as possible are the methods of the accompaniment. By implementing those methods, optimal results namely changes in community behavior in terms of awareness, understanding improvement, and capability to manage the potential feld of language, literature, and performing arts that they already have will be achieved.The result of community service in Beji Village, especially in the feld of language shows someerrors and inaccurate uses of the Javanese variety language in daily routine. In addition, there was also some correction and education in writing Java letters in the nameplate in the sub villages. In the literature feld, accompanied by the local society, we succeeded in documenting the writing of folklore based on some heritage sites in the village. In performing arts, not only succeeding in education and counseling, we also established the institutional art groups in the village of Beji.

One of the eﬀorts in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 is noble moraleducation and environmental preservation through learning. In this case, creative writing is seen as an eﬀective learning medium to convey these values. Terefore, the development of environmentally sound creative writing study in the feld of language and Indonesian literature is considered necessary so that this community engagement activity is then implemented in Pondok Pesantren Muqimus Sunnah in Palembang. Te purpose of this community engagement is to improve the creativity of the community in the feld of creative writing that is environmentally sound as an eﬀort to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Te method used in this community engagement is by delivering lectures on creative writing and training in both fction and nonfction. Games are also used as ways to covey the workshop materials. From this training, it seems that madrasah teacher and students are very enthusiastic and more eager to write. In conclusion, creative writing training that is embodied in games, as well as criticism of environmental conditions, is necessary to hone the criticality and creativity of the students and teachers in the world of literacy.

One of the eﬀorts to utilize the cultural heritage is to make it as a source of inspiration. In this case, the cultural heritage of Sojiwan Temple is used as an inspiration for the development of surrounding communities. People are encouraged to take advantage of the existence of the temple, namely by using it as a source of design inspiration cloth motif which later developed into batik craft. Te next step, crafters need to be presented directly to the batik community, both designers, manufacturers, and consumers. Terefore, it is necessary to do the exhibition with the need for the resulting batik gets appreciation from the wider audience. Batik exhibition is done by museum exhibition model, which has specifcation especially in delivery of story, or object as part of showing ideas. Te exhibition was held at the UGM Museum to reach out to people who have not been in direct contact with the craftsmen, the batik community and academics.

Community engagement, in tri dharma, is a dharma that is directly related to society. Department of French Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada carry out a community engagement program by conducting a French language training for employees in Kampung Homestay, Dusun Ngaran II, Borobudur Village. Tis training is delivered by tutorial system using communicative method. Expected result of this training is that the homestay employees can communicate in French with simple structures and phrases. In addition, Department of French Literature also helps the homestay to promote itself through a website or brochure in French, so that French-speaking foreign tourists can get to know this village better. Tis activity also produces teaching materials and videos of French-language tourism based on local cultures.

Due to the shortage of professional workers in various felds, Japan began to open up a wide opportunity for the entry of foreign workers by opening various cooperation with other countries to invite the workers to their country. One of them is with Indonesia through a cooperation scheme called IJ-EPA (Indonesia - Japan Economic Partnership Agreement) which includes cooperation in the procurement of manpower feld of nursing. Delivery of nursing workers to Japan certainly has some obstacles, especially related to the complicated requirements to become a nursing staﬀ in Japan, the abilitym to master Japanese and Japanese culture. Terefore, a team of a community engagement of Prodi Jepang, FIB, UGM seeks to help reduce these obstacles through the Socialization of Nurse Competency Standards in the IJ-EPA Framework. Te event was held on 22 November 2017 at Bahrul Ulum Medical School (STIKES), Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java. Te materials given are information about competency standards as required in IJ-EPA, Japanese social and cultural conditions, as well as gemba nihongo or Japanese language used in the nursing profession.

Manajemen Sejarah Berbasis Komunitas: Pengembangan Kawasan Kauman sebagai Living Museum Nur Aini Setiawati

One of the community services developed by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences provides an assistance to the community of Kauman village in preparation for Kauman village development as Yogyakarta living museum. In this case, Kauman area will serve as a kind of village that has a sustainable cultural tradition since the founding of Ngayogyokarto Hadiningrat Sultanate. In accordance with the concept of the living museum, many kinds of ideas will be implemented to regain the old cultural traditions that were taken from interviews with Kauman elders, community fgures, and young people about the history of Kampung Kauman. Te interviews are basically an intangible heritage which its narrative was attached to the landscape of Kauman village. Te results obtained from the interviews is a collective memory of Kauman village society to the development history of Kauman village. Te compilation and determination of the location, the building, the narrative house of historical formation, and the tradition that is carried out regularly in one year is the initial basis for the implementation of the historical living museum.

Pengembangan Potensi Kepariwisataan Berbasis Masyarakat di Desa Pengkol, Kabupaten Sukoharjo, Jawa Tengah Tular Sudarmadi

Administratively, Pengkol Village is listed in Sub-district Pengkol, Nguter District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java. While this village is not categorized as a poor village, income earned from wet-feld rice farming and fshing in Colo dam is not sufcient to support villagers’ daily life. It is not surprising that most of the productive age population prefer to work in factory or as labor migrants in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. A glimpse, of natural resources, cultural heritage and everyday life shows that Desa Pengkol can be managed as a Tourism Village Attraction. Tis article delineates the way in which Pengkol village is developed, managed, and empowered by short, middle and long community service program of the Community Based Tourism. Focusing on identifcation of tourism object attraction, this preliminary -short program- makes an eﬀort to improve, not only the economic, social, and cultural, but also the villagers day to day life welfare. Given such eﬀorts the Pengkol villagers are expected to stay during their productive age in their village as the owner and manager of tourism village attraction business. Further, they will not work as an industry worker or labor migrants.
