Abstract

The study investigated the need for career guidance in the Almajiri school system as perceived by teachers in Kebbi State, Nigeria.  The population consisted of all teachers within the state.  The researchers purposively selected six large schools in Brinin Kebbi which is the state capital, and another six large secondary schools in Argungu. Fifty teachers were picked in each of the schools using simple random sampling technique. Thus, a total of six hundred respondents partook in this study. Need for Career Guidance in Almajiri schools (NCGASQ) was the instrument used in this study. The questionnaire was the major instrument used to gather data from the respondents. This instrument was divided into two sections.  Section A contains respondents’ demographic data, similarly, Section B comprises information that elicits responses on the need for career guidance among the Amanjiri in Kebbi State. The findings showed that the perception of the respondents based on gender and educational level were the same. However, respondents’ career perceptions differed according to age and religion. The information given by respondents between the age group of 42 years and above differed significantly from those of the other groups, while the differences were noted in the responses of those practicing African traditional religion.  It was however recommended that the government should employ trained career counsellors in the Almanjiri school system this will equally assist these students.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to explore the contributing factors of tolerance in senior high school students. This research covers the concept of tolerance theory and aspects that contribute to tolerance. The study was carried out using a cross-sectional survey method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were high school students in the city of Bandung, Indonesia. The research sample was taken using a random sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 300 high school, vocational high school, and Madrasah Aliyah students in the city of Bandung. Data collection was completed using tolerance instruments, and data analysis used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results of this study indicate that the greatest contributing aspect to the tolerance of senior high school students in Bandung was the aspect of peace. Meanwhile, the lowest contribution was observed in the aspect of equality. The peace aspect consists of indicators of caring, fearlessness, and love. The results of this study can be used as material and consideration for further research to develop a model or program of guidance and counseling services empirically designed to develop tolerance.Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi analisis faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap toleransi pada siswa sekolah lanjutan tingkat atas (SLTA). Ruang lingkup penelitian ini mencakup konsep teori toleransi dan aspek yang memberikan kontribusi pada toleransi. Metode yang digunakan ialah metode cross-sectional survey dengan pendekatan Kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini ialah siswa SLTA di Kota Bandung. Pengambilan sampel penelitian menggunakan teknik random sampling. Adapun Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 300 siswa sekolah menengah atas, sekolah menengah kejuruan dan madrasah aliyah di Kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen toleransi. Analisis data menggunakan confirmatory factor analysys (CFA). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan aspek yang memberikan kontribusi terbesar pada toleransi siswa SLTA di Kota Bandung ialah aspek kedamaian. Sedangkan aspek yang memberikan kontribusi terendah ialah aspek kesetaraan. Aspek kedamaian terdiri dari indikator kepedulian, ketidaktakutan, dan cinta. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi bahan dan pertimbangan bagi penelitian selanjutnya untuk pengembangan model atau program layanan bimbingan dan konseling yang secara empirik untuk mengembangkan toleransi.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of gender on the level of students’ self-compassion and determine the effect of students’ level of self-compassion on their academic achievement. This study uses a quantitative approach, with the type of ex-post facto research and ordinal regression analysis. The data were collected using the Self-Compassion Scale (SWD) with alternative answers from one to five of scale. The sample in this study was students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Our analysis results showed no significant effect of gender on the students’ level of self-compassion and no significant effect of students’ level of self-compassion on their academic achievement.Abstrak: Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gender terhadap tingkat welas diri mahasiswa, dan mengetahui pengaruh tingkat welas diri terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan jenis penelitian ex-post facto dan menggunakan analisis regresi ordinal. Instrumen pengumpul data menggunakan Skala Welas Diri (SWD) dengan alternatif jawaban dari skala satu sampai skala lima. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gender tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap tingkat welas diri mahasiswa dan tidak terdapat pengaruh signifikan tingkat welas diri terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa.

Abstract: The uncertain job vacancy presents substantial influence on job seekers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The anxiety concerning their future career emerges as a new and deteriorating issue for fresh graduates. On the other hand, self-efficacy serves as a crucial element in facing a shift in the situation. The self-efficacy being adopted in overcoming career anxiety is known as career self-efficacy. Therefore, this study aims to identify the correlation between career self-efficacy and future career anxiety in Indonesian fresh graduate. This study used a quantitative method with a correlational study approach. For the research sample, the final-year students participated in this study and were selected using random sampling. The data were collected through Career Self-Efficacy and Future Career Anxiety instruments and analyzed using data product moment analysis. Our results suggested a negative correlation between career self-efficacy and future career anxiety. Therefore, someone with higher self-efficacy presents a low rate of future career anxiety.Abstrak:Kondisi tidak menentu terkait lapangan pekerjaan menjadi salah satu hal yang berdampak pada pencari kerja sebagai akibat pandemi COVID-19. Kecemasan terhadap karier di masa depan tampaknya menjadi masalah baru dan semakin memburuk pada fresh graduate. Di sisi lain, self-efficacy merupakan hal penting dalam menghadapi perubahan, termasuk kecemasan karier, dalam hal ini disebut dengan career self-efficacy. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara career self-efficacy dengan future career anxiety pada fresh graduate di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan menggunakan studi korelasional. Sampel penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa tingkat akhir dengan teknik penarikan sampel menggunakan random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah career self-efficacy dan future career anxiety dan menggunakan teknik analisis data product moment. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan negatif antara career self-efficacy dengan future career anxiety. Dengan demikian, semakin tinggi career self-efficacy seseorang, semakin rendah tingkat future career anxiety yang dialaminya.

Abstract

Abstract: Metaverse, a combination of social media, gaming, and virtual reality technology innovation, is a new concept that has attracted the attention of various groups. This concept has also aided numerous groups of people, including the academician. As Metaverse offers various means to innovate, it is projected to change human lives and patterns of interaction. However, Metaverse also presents a number of negative impacts on mental health, even greater than the impacts of online games. This literature review aims to examine the impacts of the Metaverse on adolescents. Then, it develops the relevant preventive strategy through school guidance and counseling programs. This study is motivated by the lack of research related to the impact of Metaverse on adolescents’ mental health and intervention strategies. By applying the PRISMA steps, the study was conducted on scientific articles published from 2017 to 2022 extracted using Publish or Perish software. From the data collection process, we garnered and analyzed 25 relevant articles from ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Sage Journals, Google Scholar, WoS, ProQuest, Taylor & Francis Group, Emerald Insight, DOAJ, and Garuda. Our analysis results showed that Metaverse potentially has negative impacts on adolescents, especially on non-cognitive aspects, such as social skills, empathy, self-esteem, self-control, and self-regulated learning. In addition, a basic guidance and counseling strategy using various approaches and techniques is required, particularly group guidance using information technology and social media to develop youth literacy about mental health in this metaverse era.Abstrak: Metaverse yang merupakan perpaduan inovasi teknologi media sosial, game, dan virtual reality, adalah konsep baru yang menarik perhatian berbagai kalangan. Konsep ini juga telah membantu banyak kalangan, termasuk akademisi. Metaverse yang menawarkan berbagai cara untuk berinovasi, juga diproyeksikan akan mengubah kehidupan manusia dan pola interaksi. Namun, Metaverse juga menghadirkan sejumlah dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan mental, bahkan lebih besar dari dampak game online. Tinjauan literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dampak Metaverse pada remaja kemudian mengembangkan strategi pencegahan yang relevan melalui program bimbingan dan konseling sekolah. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh minimnya penelitian terkait dampak Metaverse terhadap kesehatan mental remaja dan strategi intervensi. Dengan menerapkan langkah-langkah PRISMA, penelitian dilakukan terhadap artikel ilmiah terbitan tahun 2017 hingga 2022 yang diekstrak menggunakan aplikasi Publish or Perish. Dari proses pengumpulan data, kami mengumpulkan dan menganalisis 25 artikel relevan dari ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Sage Journals, Google Scholar, WoS, ProQuest, Taylor & Francis Group, Emerald Insight, DOAJ, dan Garuda. Hasil analisis kami menunjukkan bahwa Metaverse berpotensi berdampak negatif pada remaja, terutama pada aspek non-kognitif, seperti keterampilan sosial, empati, harga diri, pengendalian diri, dan pembelajaran mandiri. Selain itu, diperlukan strategi bimbingan dan konseling dasar dengan berbagai pendekatan dan teknik, khususnya bimbingan kelompok dengan menggunakan teknologi informasi dan media sosial untuk mengembangkan literasi remaja tentang kesehatan jiwa di era Metaverse ini.
