Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of cooperative learning model type Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) using smartphone game kahoot application toward students learning outcome. This research is  quasi experimental design. The population of this study were students of class VIII SMP totaling 4 classes. The sampling was conducted by random sampling technique and obtained 2 classes as samples, class VIII-C and class VIII-D. Class VIII-C as the experimental class totaling 24 students and class VIII-D as the control class totaling 25 students. The test instrument used to determine student learning outcomes is a multiple choice questions in the form of pre-test and post-test which consists of 20 questions. The results showed that the class taught by STAD learning model using kahoot game obtained an average score of 82.917, while classes taught with conventional learning obtained an average score of 50.25. Hypothesis test obtained t count = 4.509 > t table = 4.047 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an effect on student learning outcomes through the Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) type cooperative learning model using the Kahoot game smartphone application on the learning outcomes of class VIII students on the Materials Structure and Function of Plants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of science learning outcomes of students in online learning using Google Meet and Google Classroom during Covid-19 pandemic. Population in this study were all class VIII as many as 210 students consisting of 7 classes. The sample in this study consisted of 2 classes with a total of 60 students. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling technique and obtained 2 classes VIII-1 (Google Meet) and VIII-2 (Google Classroom). The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research using primary data analysis (questionnaire data) distributed using google form. The secondary data analysis was obtained from the School Final Examination data. The data were analyzed using SPSS 21 to get the mean, standard deviation (S), normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing (t-test) at a significant level = 0.05. The results of hypothesis testing using SPSS obtained a significant 0.012 from t count (2.679), significant level = 0.05 and (df) = 58 obtained t table (2.001). If t count > t table is 2.679 > 2.001, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means, there is an effect of online learning on junior high school students' learning outcomes. In terms of learning outcomes, classes that use Google Meet have higher learning outcomes than classes that use Google Classroom.

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology has made many changes in the field of education, including innovations that make it easier for teachers and students in learning activities. One of the innovations in the field of education is the blended learning model. A blended learning model that combines the advantages of face-to-face learning with distance learning to make learning activities more effective. One of the platforms that can be used in blended learning is edmodo. This platform combines social communication with learning so that learning activities can also be monitored properly by parents of students. This research was conducted to see how the effect of the blended learning model using the Edmodo platform on the effectiveness of learning biology. The research was carried out using a systematic literature analysis method known as meta-analysis. Data were obtained from 20 articles and processed using the effect size formula. Based on the analysis and discussion that has been carried out, the results obtained are 1,01 with a high category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of edmodo has a high influence on the effectiveness of learning biology.

Abstract

This study aims to increase student’s knowledge related to waste management through contextual approach. The subjects of this study were grade 3 students, as many as 28 students. This research was conducted at MI Perwanida Blitar. The research method used is in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kemmis and Mc. Taggart went through two cycles, each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research instruments used were interview, written tests, and documentation. The results showed that student’s knowledge related to waste management through contextual approach in each cycle increased from 74% in the first cycle to 84% in the second cycle, so that the results of this study had reached the expected criteria. The application of contextual approach in learning waste management can help students to improve their knowledge in managing waste, both individually and in groups.

Abstract

Information technology-based learning is currently very much required by educators in the learning process, this is due to the Covid-19 pandemic condition which forces the learning process to be carried out through distance education or commonly called online. The online learning process is quite difficult for educators to monitor students’ motivation, independence and critical thinking skills. One of the efforts to carry out the online learning process is to use e-learning media by edmodo platform. Edmodo is a social network-based learning platform that can help educators and students in the virtual learning process by prioritizing the privacy of students. This study aims to analyze the use of e-learning media by edmodo platform and its relation to students’ motivation, independence and critical thinking skills. This study used meta-analysis method. The population was 21 articles that examine the application of edmodo in learning while the sample was 16 articles taken by purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used the effect size calculation technique by Glass. The result showed that the edmodo platform application in learning had an effect on increasing students’ motivation, independence and critical thinking skills. The effect of edmodo platform application is higher on students’ critical thinking skills with an effect size value of 0,43 (medium effect), followed by students’ motivation of 0,24 (small effect) and students’ independence of 0,11(negligible effect).

Abstract

Indonesia has 25% of the world's flowering plant species. One of the largest flowering plants in Indonesia is the Orchidaceae family. There are 4,000 – 5,000 species of orchids scattered in various provinces, one of which is in North Sumatra. There is still little information about the Family Orchidaceae found in the Bukit Lawang Forest, the purpose of this research is to determine the types of orchids found in the Bukit Lawang Forest, Timbang Jaya Village, Bahorok District. This research was conducted from December 2020 to January 2021. The research method is exploratory by making an inventory of the types of orchids found along the exploration path. The results found 9 species of orchids (7 genera) consisting of 7 epiphytes and 2 terrestrial, namely Bulbophyllum sp., Bromheadia sp., Plocoglottis sp., Epidendrum sp., Pinalia sp., Dendrobium sp. and Dendrobium lobolatum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of MAN students during online learning. This research includes descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The research subjects were 54 students of class XI MIA 3 and XI MIA 4 MAN Tanjungbalai by using simple random sampling technique. The data were collected by using a question instrument in the form of essay as many as ten questions. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive statistical processing. The results showed that the indicator giving a simple explanation had an average value of 66.66 with a sufficient category, the indicator determining the basis for decision making had an average value of 56.94 with a less category, the indicator drew conclusions with an average value of 52.77 with a poor category, the indicator provides further explanation with an average value of 59.72 with less category, tactics and strategy indicator has an average value of 58.79 with less category, critical thinking ability of students of class XI MIA 3 and XI MIA 4 MAN Tanjungbalai as a whole when online learning has an average value of 59.57 in the less category. One of the efforts that can improve students' critical thinking skills is using the right learning method such as problem-based learning.

Abstract

Mangrove forest is a form of a transitional ecosystem from land and sea so it has many roles and functions for the ecosystem, one of which is maintaining the biological stability of the waters. This study aims to determine the condition of the mangrove forest and its effect on the diversity of animal species found on Rambut Island. The method used in this study is a meta-analysis by combining some previous data through a literature study on the condition of mangrove forests and animal diversity on Rambut Island. The study results show that on Rambut Island 18 species of mangrove plants have been identified and in the last 10 years, there has been a decrease in the number of mangrove species to 6 species in 2021. The mangrove forest is dominated by Rhizophora mucronata species. Animal species found in mangrove forests are dominated by groups of water birds, such as the great egret (Egretta alba). The decrease in the number of mangrove plant species resulted in a decrease in the abundance and diversity of animal species on Rambut Island. This is because these animals lose mangrove vegetation which provides a place to find food and protection for the animals that live in them. Therefore, the mangrove forest is an area that must be preserved so that it can benefit the animals that live in it.
