Abstract

Abstract: Pregnancy is the natural and normal process. Pregnant women get common changes that occur both physically and physiologically. Those changes cause them discomfortort and one of them is back pain. It can be solved by non-pharmacological therapy which is done by doing some activities such as distraction technique, self hypnosis, reducing the pain perception, massaging treatments, relaxing in a hot bath and heat or cold therapy. This research intended to investigate the effect between Endorphin Massage and warm compress therapy to reduce the back pain during the third trimester of pregnancy. This research was a quasi experimental research with two group pre test and post test design in which this experiment was done in two different groups. The sample utilized pusposive sampling technique and conducted at all public health center or puskesmas in Mataram during July to October 2017. The sample consisted of 30 pregnant mothers with third trimester of pregnancy who detected with the back pain through Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). This scale was done before and after they got Endorphine Massage and warm compress for 20 minutes in five days. Afterward, the data was analyzed by using test statistic of independent t test. The result found that mean score before and after the Endorphin Massage was 1.933 while the mean score before and after warm compress was 0.733. Those results indicated that Endorphin Massage was more effective than to reduce the back pain during the third trimester of pregnancy. Endorphine Massage was also used as the alternatif therapy of non-pharmacological to solve the back pain. Therefore all the midwives can apply Endorphine Massage through the midwifery service to the pregnant mothers in which it can help them to solve the back pain problems during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Abstract

Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia caused by insulin secretion disorder, insulin function or both of them. Hypertension is a disease identified by the increasing of diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg or systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg. Diabetes mellitus and hypertension are two closely related condition and both are health problems which require accurate treatment, since it may accelerate complication of DM and hypertension. The occurrence of  DM and hypertension is higher than solely DM. DM causes hyperglycemia that triggers oxidative stress, increasing NO degradation leads to hypertension. This research utilized a case-control study involving with type 2 DM with hypertension patients as the case (n = 40) and type 2 DM without hypertension as the control groups (n = 40). The level of NO was analyzed using spectrophotometry. Correlation regression was used to analyzed the correlation between NO and blood pressure. A p value ˂ 0,05 was considered as significantly differance. The results showed mean level of NO was lower on subjects type 2 DM with hypertension compared to that of on subjects with type 2 DM without hypertension (p=0,023). There was a negative and week correlation between the level of NO and blood pressure (Systolic r = -0.233, p=0.037 and Diastolic r = -0.149, p=0.188).Keywords: Type 2 DM; Hypertension; Nitric Oxide.

Abstract

Abstract: Strenuous physical activity can increase the activity of enzymes AST (aspartate aminotransaminase) and ALT (alanine aminotransaminase) in the blood as a sign of hepatic dysfunction caused by oxidative stress as a result. Excessive free radicals that damage macromolecules in cells. The supplementation of black soybean (Glycine max L) contains anthocyanin as an antioxidant is expected to reduce the formation of free radicals thus the activity of liver enzymes and the levels of SOD enzymes as intracellular antioxidant can be maintained. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using extracts of black soybean (Glycine max L) on the activity of liver enzymes (AST-ALT) and the antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD) of white rats that were given a maximum of physical activity. The research was control group post test design in vivo that used black soya extract treatment given to white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain given maximum physical activity. The results indicated black soybean extract 40% was the most powerful retaining the activity of liver enzymes and blood levels of antioxidants SOD. The conclusion is there is an effect of black soybean extract against the activity of liver enzymes (AST-ALT) in rats given maximal activity, whereas SOD enzymes can inhibit the decline of SOD enzyme level to 37.8% but statistically there is no significant influence. Keywords: AST-ALT enzymes; antioxidants SOD; Soybean black; Physical activity maximum.
