Abstract

The current exhibition of paintings is oriented more on business, so the objective of a person doing an exhibiting is to sell their paintings. It’s not something that is taboo, because the painter is also human who needs money for living expenses and for the cost of creating new paintings. unfortunately the comfort of the exhibition room is sometime forgotten. Abstract

A good literary work is certainly timeless. When tsunami struck Japan, two poems and a song were continuously broadcasted on the television. The poems: Ame ni mo Makezu and Kodamadeshouka and the song: Ue o Muite Arukō were written long before the disaster. These works were able to motivate the Japanese people to unite and bounce back in facing the disaster. The author uses a liberal-humanist approach and literary sociology in analyzing the three factors. Based on the results, it is known that through liberal humanism the three literary works are indeed a good literary work since they have eternal significance. The repeated words are an emphasis that the Japanese people would not give up. While literary sociology reveals that when they were first written, these three works also served as a source of motivation to the people who were in the midsts of troubles. Since they were first written until today, especially when the tsunami struct, these three works continuously exist to motivate the Japanese people. Abstract

This research aimed to describe Paranggi’s in the national literary field. Data sets in this research involved texts and propositions of artists, man of letters, or journalists related to Paranggi. The data sets were collected through the use of documentation and interview techniques. Data were analyzed by describing, comparing, associating, sorting or combining them with the Bourdieu’s theories including arena, habitus, capital, strategy, and other concepts discussing cultural production field. In the national literature, Paranggi has occupied objective position as a consecrated and legitimated poet in his field. Such consecration and legitimacy have been based on the principle of specific legitimacy, i.e. recognition provided by a group of other poets that actually serve as his competitors. In other words, the recognition has positioned him in the art edge as an autonomous artist and not positioned based on the principle of dominant and popular legitimacy. Paranggi has been consistently involved in the field of limited production or the so called high level art. In such a competition, he prefers symbolic capitals, prestige involvement, charisma, authority, consecration, or artistic celebration in poetry. Poetry becomes ideology in Paranggi’s life.Keywords: Paranggi, position, and national literary field.

Abstract

Di Bali, seni rupa hanya terdengar di Denpasar, Gianyar dan sekitarnya saja. Di luar wilayah itu: di Jembrana, Karangasem dan Buleleng, nyaris tak terdengar. Padahal Buleleng misalnya, punya sejarah seni rupa yang telah tumbuh sejak abad ke-19. Pameran seni rupa Suryakanta di Buleleng memberi sedikit gambaran tentang dialek visual Buleleng.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Abstract:The constructivism theory by Piaget and social constructivism or socio-cultural theory by Vygotsky have long been observed as theories of cognitive development. Both of these theories have two opposed ideas that deserve discussion. Piaget’s theory states that language students do their own discovery, so that students are able to construct their own knowledge. Meanwhile, sociocultural theory by Vygotsky states that social interaction influences language acquisition. In learning foreign languages, namely English, these two theories make big contributions that need to be discussed pertaining to how the application of these two theories in English class.Key words: constructivism, English, socio-culturalABSTRAK Teori-teori konstruktivisme seperti teori oleh Piaget dan konstruktivisme sosial atau teori sosio kultural oleh Vygotsky telah lama dicermati sebagai teori perkembangan kognitif. Kedua teori ini memiliki dua ide yang bertentangan yang pantas didiskusikan. Teori Piaget menyatakan bahwa pelajar bahasa  melakukan  penemuan  sendiri sehingga  para  pelajar  dinyatakan  mampu  mengkonstruksi  pe-ngetahuannya sendiri. Sementara, teori sosiokultural oleh Vygotsky menyatakan bahwa interaksi sosial dan  memberikan pengaruh pada penguasaan bahasa. Dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing, yaitu Bahasa Inggris, dua teori ini memberikan sumbangan yang besar sehingga perlu dicermati dalam hal bagaimana aplikasi kedua teori ini di kelas Bahasa Inggris.Kata-kata kunci: Bahasa Inggris, konstruktivisme, sosio kultural

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research aimed at improving students’ reading comprehension by implementing  PORPE technique. Subjects of the research were the second semester students of class G taking reading 1 subject. The research used classroom action research method which was done in two cycles. The data were collected by reading comprehension test for measuring the student’s reading comprehension, observing the teaching learning process for collecting the class condition, and questionnaire for collecting student’s perception toward PORPE learning technique. The results of the research show that (1) the implementation of PORPE technique was able to improve learning process of reading, in which the students become more active and enthusiastic in attending reading class. Therefore, the learning process of reading ran more dynamic. (2) The score of students’ reading comprehensions also improved significantly at the end of each cycle. (3) In terms of students’ perception, generally the students have positive and good respond toward the PORPE technique for teaching and learning reading comprehension.Keywords: PORPE technique, reading comprehension, students’ reading comprehensionABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa dengan menerapkan teknik pembelajaran PORPE. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa semester II kelas G yang mengambil mata kuliah Reading 1. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang  dilaksanakan  dalam  dua siklus. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes membaca pemahaman untuk mengukur kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa, pengamatan terhadap proses pembelajaran reading untuk mengetahui kondisi proses pembelajaran di kelas, dan kuisioner untuk mengumpulkan data persepsi  mahasiswa  terhadap teknik PORPE. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Penerapan  teknik  PORPE  mampu  memperbaiki  proses  pembelajaran  reading, yang mana mahasiswa menjadi  lebih  aktif dan antusias dalam  mengikuti pembelajaran reading. Oleh karena itu proses pembelajaran reading menjadi lebih dinamis. (2) Skor kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa juga mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan pada setiap akhir siklus. (3) Dalam hal persepsi mahasiswa, secara umum mahasiswa meliki respon yang baik dan positif terhadap penerapan teknik PORPE dalam proses pembelajaran reading.Kata kunci: teknik PORPE, membaca pemahaman, kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This study was aimed at analyzing and describing the authenticity of assessment implementation by teachers in vocational school in Buleleng Regency. The analysis of assessment authenticity in this study was seen from teachers’ assessment planning and assessment implementation as well as how teachers and students perceive the assessment implementation. This study used exploratory method as the design involving 35 vocational English teachers and 35 classes of vocational students in Buleleng Regency. The data was gathered through document study, questionnaire, and interview and analyzed qualitatively. The results tend to point on a sufficient level of teachers’ assessment implementation. Its level was also found to be sufficient based on how teachers and students perceived its implementation. It was because most of the lesson plans designed by the teachers did not include relevant assessments yet to the expectation of the syllabus. The assessment instruments planned such as rubrik, blueprint, and test was found to be less appropriate. Although some assessments seemed to fulfill the criteria of authentic assessment well, inappropriateness of its implementation was still found. It indicated that the assessments implementation did not represent students’ competency yet as required in their real-world life.Keywords: assessment authenticity, teachers’ made assessment ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan keotentikan pelaksanaan asesmen oleh guru di sekolah kejuruan di Kabupaten Buleleng. Analisis keotentikan asesmen dalam penelitian ini dilihat dari perencanaan asesmen guru dan pelaksanaannya serta persepsi guru dan siswa terhadap pelaksanaan asesmen. Exploratory method digunakan sebagai desain penelitian yang mengikutsertakan 35 guru Bahasa Inggris dan 35 kelas siswa kejuruan di Kabupaten Buleleng. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi dokumen, kuesioner, dan interview dan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan asesmen guru berada pada katagori cukup otentik. Cukupnya tingkat keotentikan pelaksanaan asesmen guru juga ditemukan berdasarkan pada persepsi guru dan siswa terhadap pelaksanaannya.  Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya perencanaan asesmen yang relevan dalam rancangan perencanaan pembelajaran (RPP) guru sehingga kurang mampu mencapai apa yang diminta dalam kurikulum.  Asesmen instrumen yang direncanakan dan dilaksanakan seperti rubrik, kisi-kisi, dan tes cenderung kurang sesuai untuk digunakan. Walaupun beberapa asesmen sudah memenuhi beberapa kriteria untuk dikatagorikan sebagai asesmen otentik, kekurangsesuain dari pelaksanaannya masih terjadi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan asesmen guru, secara umum, belum mampu mewakili kompetensi siswa seperti apa yang diminta dalam dunia nyata.Kata kunci: keotentikan asesmen, asesmen guru

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research with purpose to analyse the process of lesson study as a way to improve lecturers’ pedagogical competence is a descriptive qualitative research which conducted direct observation, interview, and documentation. From the result of interview, it was found that there are some problems faced by lecturer model in teaching writing 2 course, unconfident in teaching adult learners, lack of experience, monotone methods and media used, and inappropriate assessment techniques implemented. Moreover, lecturer observer gave some suggestions like choosing variation of methods in teaching based on the topic, the use of innovative media, and assessment techniques which emphasize more on the process. In the implementation stage, it was found that the lecturer model conducted the teaching and learning process based on what have been deal in previous stage with lecturer observer. But, there were still some limitation that should be improved like the use of technology and the ability to explain the material in lecturing section. As the next stage, reflection, FGD was conducted and got the result to revise the planning for the next teaching, like the use of schoology as additional media used to discuss the task given to students and the revision on delivering the material which should include question and answer activity with the students.Keywords : lesson study, pedagogical competenceABSTRAK Penelitian dengan tujuan menganalisis proses lesson study sebagai upaya membina para dosen muda untuk meningkatkan kualitas mengajar ini merupakan penelitian  deskriptif  kualitatif  dengan  melakukan pengamatan langsung atau observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dari hasil wawancara serta dokumentasi yang dilakukan pada tahap perencanaan lesson study, ditemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa kendala yang dihadapi dosen model saat mengajar mata kuliah Writing 2, diantaranya tidak percaya diri mengajar mahasiswa, kurang pengalaman, penggunaan metode serta media yang monoton, serta teknik penilaian yang belum sesuai. Disamping itu, dosen pengamat/senior memiliki saran-saran perbaikan berupa pemilihan metode yang bervariasi sesuai topic, penggunaan media inovatif, serta penilaian yang berfokus pada penilaian proses. Pada tahap implementasi, ditemukan bahwa dosen model telah melaksanakan pembelajaran sesuai dengan rencana yang disepakati sebelumnya dengan dosen pengamat. Namun terkait pelaksanaannya dalam kelas, masih terdapat beberapa kelemahan yang harus diperbaiki, seperti penggunaan media dan teknologi pembelajaran, serta kemampuan memaparkan materi saat sesi ceramah. Sebagai tahapan berikutnya yakni tahapan refleksi, dilaksanakan FGD yang menghasilkan perbaikan untuk perencanaan serta implementasi tahap berikutnya, seperti penggunaan schoology sebagai media tambahan dalam membahas tugas yang diberikan pada mahasiswa serta penyesuaian cara memaparkan materi dengan menyelipkan tanya jawab sembari tetap menjelaskan materi.Kata Kunci : lesson study, kemampuan mengajar

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Classic story or satua Bali already started to fall behind and replaced by a more modern story theme. To revive the classic stories in Bali, researchers conduct studies on Kamandaka Tantric texts. As for the objectives of the present study, namely, 1) To know the stories in the script Tantric Kamandaka. 2) To determine the values of character education in Tantric texts Kamandaka. The method used in this research is the method of documentation. There are two results obtained in this study, namely (1) the stories in the script TANTRI Kamandaka 11 title story consists of 35 parts of the story, namely 1) Friendship Kura-Kuran premises Geese (3-part story), 2) Ticks with bedbug (5-part story), 3) the Sewanggara death without a witness, 4) Papaka, Tiger and Monkey (12-part story), 5) Tiger Run Because Goat Betina (2-part story), 6) Gajah Mati in Kroyok By Bird Palatuk , Crow, Flies and Frogs (4-part story), 7) Takshaka Dead By Parents Village (2 part story), 8) Naga Sitara Dead Because Budi Worse, 9) story Three Fish, 10) the King Aridarma Know the language of animals not Come said She Wrong, (3 part story), 11) Death of the Candapinggala with the Nandaka. (2) there are 20 values of character education (religious values, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, curiosity , respect for others, friendship, solidarity, love of peace, environmental care, social care, responsibility, courtesy, mutual help, democratic, recognize excellence and unyielding) Kamandaka Tantric story can be embedded in each individual as the basis for the formation of character.Key words: value character, Tantri KamandakaABSTRAK Cerita klasik atau satua  Bali sudah mulai tertinggal dan tergantikan oleh cerita yang temanya lebih modern. Untuk membangkitkan kembali cerita-cerita klasik yang ada di Bali, peneliti mengadakan kajian tentang naskah Tantri Kamandaka.adapun tujuan daripada peneltian ini yaitu, 1) Untuk mengetahui cerita-cerita yang ada dalam naskah Tantri Kamandaka. 2) Untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam naskah Tantri Kamandaka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode dokumentasi.Ada dua hasil yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu (1) cerita-cerita yang ada dalam naskah Tantri Kamandaka 11 judul cerita yang terdiri dari 35 bagian cerita yaitu 1)Persahabatan Kura-Kuran denga Angsa (3 bagian cerita), 2) Kutu dengan Kepinding (5 bagian cerita), 3) Sang Sewanggara mati tanpa saksi, 4) Papaka, Harimau dan Kera (12 bagian cerita), 5) Harimau Lari Karena Kambing Betina (2 bagian cerita), 6) Gajah Mati di Kroyok Oleh Burung  Palatuk, Gagak, Lalat, dan Katak (4 bagian cerita), 7) Taksaka Mati Oleh Orang Tua Desa (2 bagian cerita), 8) Naga Sitara Mati Lantaran Budi Buruknya, 9) Cerita Tiga Ikan, 10) Sang Raja Aridarma Tahu Bahasa BInatang tidak Ikut Kata Istrinya yang Salah,(3 bagian cerita), 11) Matinya Sang Candapinggala dengan Sang Nandaka.(2) ada 20 nilai pendidikan karakter (nilai religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, rasa ingin tahu, menghargai orang lain, bersahabat, setia kawan, cinta damai, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, tanggung jawab, sopan santun, tolong menolong, demokratis, menghargai prestasi dan pantang menyerah) Cerita Tantri Kamandaka dapat ditanamkan dalam setiap individu sebagai dasar pembentukan karakter.Kata-kata kunci: nilai karakter, tantri kamandaka

Abstract

ABSTRACT The poster is a type of media which  shows the Balinese culture during the colonial (Dutch) period.  It  aims to express the exoticness of Bali during the Dutch era. The significance of each sign on the poster depends on how one sees the culture. Posters as a visual communication medium expresses the meaning of the details and images through the viewpoint of semiotics. The discussion in this study will use a method of semiotic analysis conducted in understanding and reading of a masterpiece of visual communication design. The results of semiotic analysis in this article essentially can be described that the  poster in the colonial period refers to Balinese culture representing women as the main object. The significance of this Balinese woman is exotic, honest, and innocent. Plants, meru, and mountains also  on the poster show the beauty of Bali. The poster clearly shows that Bali is a paradise island.Key words: poster, colonial, significanceABSTRAK  Kajian poster sebagai media representatif dalam pencitraan identitas budaya Bali pada masa kolonial (Belanda) bertujuan untuk mengungkap tanda pada poster Bali di masa kolonial Belanda yang mampu menjadi media publikasi tentang keeksotikan Bali, dan bagaimana makna setiap tanda pada poster yang acap bertumpu pada konsep pemikiran budaya. Poster sebagai sebuah media komunikasi visual diungkap makna atas tanda yang muncul didalamnya melalui sudut pandang semiotika. Pembahasan dalam penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode analisis semiotika yang dilakukan dalam pemahaman dan pembacaan terhadap sebuah karya desain komunikasi visual. Hasil analisis semiotika dalam artikel ini dapat dideskripsikan bahwa pada hakekatnya poster Bali pada masa kolonial mengacu pada konsep kebudayaan dengan menghadirkan perempuan Bali sebagai obyek utama poster. Perempuan Bali ini memiliki makna eksotik, jujur dan polos. Pada poster juga dihadirkan tumbuhan, meru dan pegunungan yang memperlihatkan keindahan Bali. Dengan menunjukan gambaran seperti ini, tentu bertujuan untuk memperlihatkan Bali sebagai ‘pulau surga’. Poster Bali pada masa kolonial memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam mengkonstruksi citra identitas buadaya Bali sebagai pulau surga.Kata Kunci: Poster, Kolonial, Makna
