Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an increase in students' learning outcomes taught using Double Loop Problem Solving (DLPS) on the measurement material. The design of this study was a pre-experimental design with one group pre test post test design. The research sample was sixth grades which amounted to 24 people. The research techniques used were test and non-test techniques. Analysis of student learning outcomes data descriptively obtained from the results of percentages and average students while to determine the increase in student learning outcomes, we used the N-gain test formula. The results showed that using of the Double Loop Problem Solving (DLPS) learning model could improve student learning outcomes in the measurement material. This is supported by a pre-test and post-test analysis that uses normalized N-gain values where 21% of students are in the N-gain category with a High category, 58% of students are in the moderate category and 21% are in the low category

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes about circles topics in mathematics through the traditional game namely marbles. The research has been conducted using experiments method with Posttest Only Control Group Design. Students of grade eight in SMP Negeri 2 Nusalaut, Central Maluku Regency were subject, where students in class VIII1 as an experiment class and using marbles while students at class VIII2 as a conventional class. Data were collected from the essay test and it was analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed that the average of students learning outcomes in the class experiment is 74.43 and the average of learning outcomes of class control is 64.50. It means that the learning outcomes of students who taught by using approach the traditional game marbles increase compared with the learning outcomes of students taught by conventional approaches

Abstract

This study aims to describe the thought process of one slow learn child in an inclusion class in solving mathematical problems structured according to Polya’s stages. This type of research is a case study. The result of this study state that in the stage of understanding the subject’s problem only remembers information at the end of the problem because of limited memory. In the stage of making a problem solving plan, the subject translate the problem into mathematical symbols based on the sequence of activities in the problem. In the stage of implementing the problem solving plan, the subject can solve existing problem but does not have confidence in the truth of the final answer obtained. In the stage of checking again, the subject does not recheck each step of completion or the final answer obtained because the subject considers the work to have been completed

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research with an experimental design aimed at: 1) know the influence of the presentation of material in the form of comic media and without comic media on student mathematics learning outcomes; 2) know the interaction of the presentation of the material with learning motivation towards student mathematics learning outcomes; 3) find out whether the results of learning mathematics students who have high learning motivation and are taught by presenting material in the form of comic media is higher than without using comic media; 4)find out whether the results of learning mathematics students who have low learning motivation and are taught by presenting material in the form of comic media is higher than without using comic media. This research involved all SMP in Kab. Gowa. Determination of the sample is done by selecting an A accredited school, while determining the class as a sampling unit using the Purposive Sampling technique with the selected class having more dominant reading interest. So that class VIIIA was chosen at SMP Neg. 1 Sungguminasa as an experimental class and Class VIIIB in SMP Neg. 4 Sungguminasa as a control class. Variables consist of free variables and bound variables. Free variables presented in the form of a comic media and learning motivation while bound variables using the student maths result. The learning tools developed consists of students book (comic media), students worksheet book (comic media) and lesson plan. The data collected in this study were students 'learning motivation obtained using the learning motivation questionnaire instrument and students' mathematics learning outcomes were obtained using the mathematics learning achievement test instrument. Analysis of student mathematics learning outcomes test results using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis namely ANAVA and independent sample t-test. The results that:1) there is an influence between the presentation of material in the form of comic media and the presentation of material without using comic media on student mathematics learning outcomes; 2) there is no interaction of the presentation of the material with learning motivation on student mathematics learning outcomes; 3) mathematics learning outcomes of students who have high learning motivation and are taught by presenting material in the form of comic media are higher than without using comic media; 4) mathematics learning outcomes of students who have low learning motivation and are taught by presenting material in the form of comic media are higher than without using comic media

Abstract

The factors causing students' learning difficulties are very diverse, therefore, before deciding the steps that will be used to overcome these learning difficulties, teachers need to diagnose their students' learning difficulties. The purpose of this research is to 1) describe students’ difficulties in solving word problem related to the quadratic inequalities; 2) diagnose the cause of these student difficulties. This study is descriptive-qualitative research design. In this case, the researcher is the primary instrument. In collecting the data, the researcher used a diagnostic test sheet, interview and field notes. In this study, triangulation of data source is applied to check the validity of the data. Result of diagnostic test shows that student difficulties are: (a) not identify the problem, (b) not written the information into mathematical model, (c) did not know/forgot the concept of word problem that is GLBB and total revenue, (d) have not been able to make quadratic inequalities, and e) have not been able to determine its solution set. Diagnosis in this research using mapping mathematics, that is a diagram that arrange based on student difficulties. Its research shows that the causes are reading related error, linguistic error, error in understanding inequalities concepts, and error in arithmetic process. The source of causes are students’ cognitive and non-cognitive factors and also pedagogical factors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the improvement in student learning outcomes taught through ARIAS learning with cooperative settings in learning Analytical Geometry Fields. This study uses a research design type 0ne-Shot Case Study. The research subjects were lecturers and students of the second semester of the Department of Mathematics Education Unima, academic year 2018/2019, which succeeded 25 students. Data obtained through the results of the test form description. Obtained the average results of student learning outcomes using this learning model is 82 with a maximum value of 95, while the results of inferential statistical analysis obtained results t_hitung= 12,3494 > t_tabel=1,708, with a real level (∝) = 0.05. This means the average learning outcomes are more than 62.5 which is a benchmark of graduation. The results showed that using the ARIAS learning model with cooperative settings in learning Geometry Analytic Fields can improve student learning outcomes

Abstract

Student learning achievement in statistical material is still relatively low, because the learning method used is still monotonous (conventional). This study aims to improve the learning achievement of class XII Students of SMA Negeri 2 Salahutu on statistical material through the cooperative learning type two stay two stray. This type of research is a class action research consisting of two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meeting. The subjects in this study were students of class XII-MIA2 with a sample of 20 students. Data collection techniques in this study were obtained from the results of observations and final test results of students in each cycle. Classical student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II increased by 15%. Based on results obtained, it can be concluded that using the cooperative learning of the two stay two stray type can improve the learning outcomes of class XII students of SMA Negeri 2 Salahutu on statistical matrial.

Abstract

Using schemes of Euclid's geometrical concepts in long-term memory to understand hyperbolic geometry and elliptic geometry concepts with assimilation and accommodation allows for cognitive conflict. This study aims to reduce the occurrence of cognitive conflict by understanding the mathematical content of the three of Euclidean geometries, hyperbolic and elliptic. The research was conduct used descriptive exploratory. The results indicate that Euclid's geometry representation is still used in representing hyperbolic and elliptic geometry so that cognitive conflict occurs. Cognitive conflicts that occur are related to the position of two lines, parallels, two triangles with the same that correspond angles, intersects one of two parallel lines, the number of angles in a triangle, and Sacherri's valid hypothesis. The efforts that can be made to reduce the occurrence of cognitive conflict are to change existing schemes or create new schemes so that the information obtained can be combined into existing schemes in a deductive axiomatic approach to material content through the accommodation process

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ability of mathematics junior high school students in resolving the mathematics HOTS in the national exam (UN). The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative study. The subject of study is six students of ninth grade consisting of two capable, two people are low capacity, and two others high-profile. Data collection in this research using interviews and test one package the exam every year from 2016-2018, then been validated by the expert, who is elected seven items of about which include an item in 2016, two items of the year 2017, and four items of the year 2018. An instrument used is an enlightenment interview and the national exam in HOTS categorize. The result showed that students low capable with only able to solve the item number-1 and number-4 wich including in HOTS level-4 and 5, and students who are capable of being able to solve problems HOTS have similarities with students who are highly capable of being able to solve the questions number 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 with HOTS levels 4, 5, and 6

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the ability of mathematical representation of Grade VIII2 students at SMP Negeri 3 Raha 2018/2019 Academic Year during mathematics learning activities with the application of cooperative learning model in the type group investigation with open ended problem approach. The type of research is classroom researh of two cycles based on teaching syllabus of the mathematics teacher in class VIII2. Each cycle is carried ot based on the competency standards to be achieved in learning. The cycle in this class action research through four stages, namely : planning of action; implementation of action; observation and evaluation; reflection. Based on the result of research conducted on the Grade VIII2 students at SMP Negeri 3 Raha 2018/2019 Academic Year on the competency standards: calculating area and volume of prism and pyramid using cooperative learning model in the type group investigation with open ended problem approach can improve the ability of mathematical representation, which are : respones and learning outcomes shown in cycle II are primly goodand the students scoreof mathematical representation test capability in each cycle has improve signivicantly, until 80% on the last cycle. Moreover, the results showed that there are only 4 students from total 20 students who obtain score 68 which is the minimum completeness criteria set by the school . Student activities and learning management by the teacher in the learning process also increased to cycle II reaching an average of 82% and 81%. Therefore, learning by applying cooperative learning model in the type group investigation with open ended problem approach can improve the ability of mathematical representation
