Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni is an international journal dedicated for the publication of scientific articles in language education, literature, and arts education. It was firstly published on March 2000 with ISSN 1411-3732 in 2007 by Faculty of Language Literature and Arts Universitas Negeri Padang. This journal had ever been changed into Jurnal Bahasa dan Seni during 2004-2013. In 2014 this journal is renamed as Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni applies open journal system (OJS) and peer-reviewed online journal in 2017 with Online ISSN 2548-9097.

Abstract

This article aims to explain about the aesthetic value in performance structure of traditional piriang dance from Jorong Limau Sundai Pasir Talang, Kabupaten Solok Selatan. This dance is played especially by female dancers. This research is quantitative research which applies descriptive method. The object of this research is the performance structure of traditional piriang dance from Jorong Limau Sundai Pasir Talang Kabupaten Solok Selatan. The key instrument of this research is the researcher herself. The data are colected by using direct observation, interview, literature study and documentation. Furthermore, the data are analyzed by using ethnography method. Based on result of this research, piriang dance has traditional aesthetics from local culture values of Jorong Limau society. The aesthetic value of piriang dance can be found in motion structure, costume, floor design, music design, dance technique, and expression of the female dancers who are 45 until 48 years old. The aesthetic value of piriang dance from Jorong Limau is related to culture value which becomes the basic of life to Jorong Limau Sundai society. Abstract

PERBAIKAN KEMAMPUAN SISWA DALAM MEMBACA TEKS DESKRIPTIF MELALUI STRATEGI KOGNITIF DI KELAS VII-2 DI SMPN 1 INDRA PRAJA TEMBILAHANAbstractThis study aimed at determining whether cognitive strategy can improve students' skills in writing descriptive texts, as well as the factors that influence the improvement of writing skills. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four sessions. Each consists of a plan, action, observation, and reflection. Participants in this study were all students of grade VII-2 SMPN1 Indra Praja Tembilahan amounting to 22 students. The data were collected through: (1) observation sheets; students, teachers, teaching step (2) field notes (3) interviews, and (4) the writing test. The study found that the use of cognitive strategy can improve students' skills in writing descriptive text. The findings of this study indicate that an increase in the average value of students above the minimum completeness criteria namely 75 for English subject. The factors that influence students' skills in writing the descriptive text are (a) reading material provided to students, (b) students’ motivation, and (c) teachers’ approach toward the student. It can be concluded that the application of cognitive strategy on teaching reading descriptive text can give positive results with increasing students' skills in reading the descriptive text. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah cognitive strategy dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis teks descriptive, serta factor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi peningkatan keterampilan menulis tersebut. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat kali pertemuan. Masing-masing terdiri dari plan, action, observation, dan reflection. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII-2 SMPN 1 Indra Praja Tembilahan yang berjumlah 22 siswa. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui: (1) lembar observasi; siswa, guru, langkah mengajar (2) catatan lapangan (3) wawancara, dan (4) tes menulis. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa penggunaan cognitive strategy dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis teks descriptive. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa diatas kriteria ketuntasan minimal mata pelajaran bahasa inggris yaitu 75. Adapun faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keterampilan siswa dalam menulis teks descriptive adalah (a) bahan bacaan yang diberikan kepada siswa, (b) motivasi siswa, dan (c) pendekatan guru terhadap siswa. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan cognitive strategy pada pengajaran membaca teks descriptive dapat memberikan hasil yang positif dengan meningkatnya keterampilan siswa dalam membaca teks descriptive.Keywords: Students’ reading Comprehension of Descriptive text, cognitive strategy

Abstract

This paper reveals a comparisons between magic spells / charms as one of Minangkabau spoken Literature and the poetries of Sutardji Calzoum Bachri. The theory of comparative literature is used to reveal the comparison. Thus, the aspects compared are the structure and Moslem’s religious values found in Minangkabau’s magic spells with Sutardji Calzoum Bachri’s poetries. In fact, both magic spells of Minangkabau spoken Literature and the poetries of Sturdji Calzoum Bachri’s have many things in common. First, structurally both genres contains similar element of sound, diction and language style. Through the analyses of diction and theme it is found that both the Minangkabau magic spells and the poems of Sutardji Calzoum reflects the Moslem’s value and ideology. Abstract

Literature works cannot be completely understood if they are separated from the society that produces them. The understanding of social issues on literature works in the form of novel can be used as a polite means of education for people in posturing a phenomenon. This study is a qualitative descriptive one with literature sociological approach. Data collection applied observing and note-taking techniques. Data was analized by using content analysis. The result shows that AAC2 novel consists of six social issues, they are: (a) Poverty, much experienced by Muslim immigrants in European big cities; (b) Criminal, much committed by extrimist Jews toward the Palestinians and Muslims in general; (c) Disorganized family, much experienced by Europian society due to irresponsible husband and less dutiful children to their parents; (d) War, between Palestina and Israel; (e) Breach of norms, in the form of selling virginity, theft, vandalism, and liquor; (f) Population issues, in the form of discrimination toward the rights of Muslims minority in Europe and Islamophobia; and (g) Bureaucratic problems, in the form of lobbying done by the extremist Jews toward the University of Edinburgh campus. The social issues expressed by Habiburrahman El Shirazy contains educational values for the readers about social problems developed in community so they can learn how to solve them as offered by the story.Keyword: ayat-ayat cinta 2,novel, social issuesMASALAH SOSIAL DALAM NOVEL AYAT-AYAT CINTA 2 KARYA HABIBURRAHMAN EL SHIRAZYAbstrakKarya sastra tidak dapat dipahami secara utuh apabila dipisahkan dari masyarakat yang telah melahirkannya. Pemahaman terhadap masalah-masalah sosial yang ada di dalam karya sastra bentuk novel dapat dijadikan sebagai sarana edukasi yang halus bagi masyarakat dalam menyikapi suatu peristiwa. Penelitian ini berbentuk deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan catat. Analisis data menggunakan content analysis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan novel AAC2 mengandung enam masalah sosial, yaitu: (a) Kemiskinan, yang banyak dialami oleh para imigran Muslim di kota-kota besar di Eropa; (b) Kejahatan, yang banyak dilakukan oleh kelompok Yahudi ekstrem terhadap orang-orang Palestina dan orang-orang Islam pada umumunya; (c) Disorganiasi keluarga, banyak dialami oleh masyarakat Eropa akibat suami yang tidak bertanggung jawab dan anak-anak yang kurang berbakti kepada orang tuanya; (d) Peperangan, antara Palestina dan Israel. (d) Pelanggaran terhadap Norma-Norma, berupa menjual keperawanan, pencurian, vandalisme, dan minuman keras. (e) Masalah Kependudukan, berupa diskriminasi terhadap hak-hak muslim minoritas di Eropa dan Islamophobia; (f) Masalah Birokrasi, berupa lobi-lobi yang dilakukan oleh kelompok Yahudi ekstrem terhadap kampus University of Edinburgh. Masalah-masalah sosial yang diungkapkan oleh Habiburrahman El Shirazy dalam novel AAC2 mengandung nilai-nilai edukasi bagi pembaca terhadap masalah-masalah sosial yang berkembang di masyarakat untuk kemudian diketahui bagaimana solusi yang ditawarkan dalam cerita.Kata kunci : ayat-ayat cinta 2, masalah sosial, novel

Abstract

This paper aims to explain the development of musical instruments used in the ensemble of creative talempong and its influence on variations of songs played by these instruments. The development is seen from the musical instruments and the variation songs. The data were collected through a literature study related to the history and development of the ensemble of creative talempong, the musical instruments used, the songs sung and the context of performances that use creative talempong. The finding shows that the development of musical instruments used is tailored to the tastes and culture of local communities. The use of sound system, western musical instruments, and the use of chromatic tones in melody talempong gives an effect on increasing the variety of songs and genres that can be performed with creative talempong. Abstract

The meaning of the extra-clause adverbs in this paper constitutes the functional elements of sentences that are peripherals and are outside the clause structure. Some experts call this type of adverbs disjunct, stance adverbs and sentence adverbs. The existence of this type of adverbs is specifically to provide information or additional explanation regarding the establishment, point of view or comment on the proposition contained in a sentence. Abstract

PENGEMBANGAN PENDIDIKAN BUDAYA DAN KARAKTER BANGSA MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIASince the implementation of Curriculum 2013, the discussion on the National Character and Culture Education Program, which was started from 2011, has been seen to be decline lately. However, a deeper look at the program’s fundamentals shows that it is indeed relevant with the newly curriculum since topics on national character and culture education are inherent parts of the subject of Indonesian Language, one of compulsory subjects taught at Indonesian schools. This article shows how phases in texts-based Indonesian Language teaching and learning, which comprises  of teacher modeling, group composition tasks, and individual composition tasks, are effective steps in teaching national culture and national character to learners.Keywords: National culture and character, Texts-based Bahasa Indonesia Learning and TeachingAbstrakSejak pelaksanaan Kurikulum 2013, Karakter Nasional dan Program Pendidikan Kebudayaan, yang dimulai dari 2011, telah terlihat penurunan pembahasannya akhir-akhir ini. Namun, jika dilihat lebih dalam pada fundamental program menunjukkan bahwa memang relevan dengan kurikulum baru karena topik pada pendidikan karakter nasional dan pendidikan budaya merupakan bagian yang melekat dari pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, salah satu mata pelajaran wajib yang diajarkan di sekolah-sekolah Indonesia. Abstract

This article aims to describe the development strategy of art based instruction directive instruction. Learning development strategy is realized through design planning and systematic learning system to solve learning problems. This can be done by adopting relevant learning models. Directive Instruction as a model is done by creating a lesson plan, ie identifying topics, determining learning objectives, and selecting examples and problems. The process of learning planning for a directive instruction model starts from identifying one specific skill desired by educators and learners to be understood and used, formulating specific learning goals that learners are expected to learn, finding and creating high-quality examples that help learners in order to be able to develop a conceptual foundation for the skills that learners will apply later in later examples.Keywords: Strategy, Art Learning, Directive Instruction.STRATEGI PEMBELAJARAN SENI BERBASIS MODEL DIRECTIVE INSTRUCTIONAbstrakArtikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan strategi pengembangan pembelajaran seni berbasis directive instruction. Strategi pengembangan pembelajaran diujudkan melalui perencanaan desain dan sistem pembelajaran yang sistematis untuk memecahkan permasalahan pembelajaran. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan mengadopsi model pembelajaran yang relevan. Directive Instruction sebagai sebuah model dilakukan dengan membuat rencana pembelajaran, yaitu mengidentifikasi topik, menentukan tujuan belajar, dan memilih contoh dan masalah. Proses perencanaan pembelajaran untuk model directive instruction dimulai dari mengidentifikasi satu keterampilan spesifik yang diinginkan oleh pendidik dan peserta didik untuk dipahami dan digunakan, merumuskan tujuan-tujuan belajar spesfifik yang diharapkan peserta didik untuk dipelajari, menemukan dan membuat contoh-contoh berkualitas tinggi yang membantu peserta didik agar mampu mengembangkan fondasi konseptual bagi keterampilan-keterampilan yang akan diterapkan peserta didik kemudian pada contoh-contoh selanjutnya.Kata Kunci: Strategi, Pembelajaran Seni, Directive Instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to describe effect of short story writing skills using model imitation techniques and literary reading interest with conventional techniques in class IX of SMP Negeri 2 Pariaman. This type of research is quantitative with factorial 2x2 design. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. Research variables were independent variables, dependent variables, and moderator variables. The research instruments were questionnaires and performance tests. The data in this study were scores on the results of short story writing skills tests. The research procedure consists of the preparation stage, the implementation phase, the assessment stage. The results of this study are as follows. First, the value of short story writing skills of students taught using model imitation techniques is higher than the value of students taught by conventional techniques. Second, the value of short story writing skills of students who have a high literacy interest, who are taught using model imitation techniques, is higher than high literary reading interests taught using conventional techniques. Third, the value of short story writing skills of students who have low literary interest, who are taught using model imitation techniques, is higher than the low literary reading interest taught by conventional techniques. Fourth, there is an interaction between literary interest in reading and imitation techniques in influencing students' short story writing skills.Keyword: effect, short stories, imitate model technique, Interest in literature  reading.PENGARUH TEKNIK TIRU MODEL DAN MINAT BACA SASTRA TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENULIS CERPEN  AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dampak hasil belajar keterampilan menulis cerpen dengan menggunakan teknik tiru model dan minat baca sastra dengan teknik konvensional di kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Pariaman. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain factorial 2x2. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling. Variabel penelitian yaitu variabel bebas, variabel terikat, dan variabel moderator. Instrumen penelitian adalah angket dan tes unjuk kerja. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah skor hasil tes keterampilan menulis cerpen. Prosedur penelitian terdiri dari tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, tahap penilaian. Hasil penelitian ini sebagai berikut. Pertama, nilai keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa yang diajar menggunakan teknik tiru model lebih tinggi daripada nilai siswa yang diajar dengan teknik konvensional. Kedua, nilai keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa yang memiliki minat baca sastra tinggi, yang diajar menggunakan teknik tiru model, lebih tinggi daripada minat baca sastra tinggi yang diajar menggunakan teknik konvensional. Ketiga, nilai keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa yang memiliki minat baca sastra rendah, yang diajar menggunakan teknik tiru model, lebih tinggi daripada minat baca sastra rendah yang diajar menggunakan teknik konvensional. Keempat, terdapat interaksi antara minat baca sastra dengan teknik tiru model dalam mempengaruhi keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa.Kata Kunci: pengaruh, cerpen, teknik tiru model, minat baca sastra.

Abstract

There are many folktales that have similiar themes in the world. Birth, love, conflict, struggle for life, and miracle are the universal themes of folktales. Because of these similiarities, there is a great possibility for a reseracher to compare one folktale with others and reaveal the similiarities or differences among them. This article aims at highlightings a popular theme in many folktales around the world, it is about the spritual side of human’s life that gets a miracle from God. That theme is founded in three folktales which originally come from different setting of places, times, and beliefs. The first folktale is The Story of Little Bird. This folktale is a famous one from Irish with Hindy and Chatolic beliefs. The second one is the legend of Ashabul Kahfi from Middle East or Islam world. The third folktale is The Smoke of Fuji Yama, a folktale from Japan that is popular for Shinto believers. Three steps were used in analyzing these folktales. The first step was discussing the time and place of literary work production, including cultural background that set the story. The second step was analyzing literary lements namely character and setting. This step led to the theme of the folktales. The last step was discussing the story structure, such as explanation-rising the conflict-climax-and denounement. The result of analysis shows that theme is the same. It is about a help from God for the choosen and noble craetures.Key terms: literary work, folktale, theme
