Abstract

For Japanese language learners in Indonesia get Monbukagakusho Japanese Studies program is something that is very coveted. Moreover Monbukagakusho Japanese Studies program through G to G that must be faced through a very strict selection. In 2012 Japanese students of Faculty of Cultural Study UB who pass the selection were 7 students, in 2013 were 4 students, and in 2014 were 8 students graduated from 21 students in Indonesia. To reach the achievement, it is necessary efforts to improve Japanese ability especially Kanji (writing) Bunpou (grammar), and Dokkai (reading comprehension). The development of students’ cognitive ability does not walk alone but it required the ability to organize and control its cognitive abilities. The approach used in this study is metacognitive. From the description above, the research problems are formulated as follows: (1) How to increase Japanese students’ ability who participate monbukagakusho selection, (2) What factors which support the learning systems to improve students’ ability to deal with the selection. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This study used a questionnaire with 30 respondents of Japanese literature student of Faculty of Cultural Study UB who have joined benkyoukai monbukagakusho test preparation. The results showed that to increase the students’ Japanese language proficiency, it is required benkyoukai with strict selection. The students who do not achieve a score above 60% with correct answers 3 (three) times in a row will fall The factors that support learning systems are: The role of the study program, student of benkyoukai participants, materials and evaluation, and facilities and infrastructure.   Keywords: benkyoukai (study group), monbukagakusho (scholarship of Ministry of Education and Culture   Japan)

Abstract

Teacher plays an essential role in education process. The success of a learning process in changing students behavior depends on how well the teacher treat the students. The teachers also have to be a good model for the student in every classroom interaction. Teaching English will be meaningful when the teacher can integrate the teaching process into the development of students’ character. When the students behave with proper manner in society, the education process can be said meet the goal of education. Any subject matter in education needs to concern about this issue, especially in English language teaching. The students are not only taught about the linguistic structure of the language but also how their character can be built through the classroom interaction. This paper aims to give an overview about the teachers’ role in building student’s character through English language teaching classroom. It is dealing with what is the nature of character and its importance in education. It also describes the roles of teacher as character educator and how to integrate character education into English language teaching which can be done through some way, such as habituation, integrating character education into English material, cooperative learning in English teaching classroom and Instructional Media of English Teaching.   Keywords: Classroom Activities, Character, Character Building, English Language   Teaching.“Character isn’t inherited. Abstract

Meningkatnya jumlah guru dan dosen professional belumlah menjadi ukuran dan patokan standar dari pembelajaran yang berkualitas. Hal ini didasari oleh adanya kenyataan bahwa masih rendahnya kualitas pembelajaran itu sendiri baik di sekolah maupun perguruan tinggi. Ketidakterampilan peserta didik dalam kegiatan berkomunikasi baik lisan maupun tertulis menjadi suatu bukti ketidakprofesionalan dari dosen dan guru yang sudah professional tersebut. Salah satu faktor penyebab ketidakterampilan tersebut berangkat dari ketidakprofesionalan guru dan dosen terhadap pengelolaan tahapan pelaksanaan proses pembejaran di kelas. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan berbagai upaya peningkatan profesionalitas guru dan dosen melalui revitalisasi proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran di kelas; (2) untuk melihat kebermanfaatan berbagai upaya tersebut dalam meningkatkan keprofesionalan guru dan dosen. Penyajian tulisan ini bersifat  deskriptif karena berupaya memberikan gambaran tentang berbagai upaya peningkatan profesionalitas guru dan dosen melalui kegiatan merevitalisasi pelaksanaan dari proses pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia yang telah dilaksanakan selama ini. Kegiatan revitalisasi tersebut tentu saja terkait dengan perkembangan teknologi komunikasi yang semakin mengglobal Profesionalitas guru dan dosen dapat ditingkatkan melalui kegiatan merevitalisasi kembali tahapan pelaksanaan pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia di sekolah maupun perguruan tinggi dalam kerangka menghasilkan pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia yang berkualitas dan mumpuni.   Kata kunci: profesi, profesionalitas revitalisasi, pembelajaran,

Abstract

Music learning in kindergarten so far focused on the development of singing through habituation, so the results are not optimal. This study aims to describe the music learning to develop basic musical skills of students in kindergarten. This study used a qualitative approach, which is implemented in kindergarten Dharmawanita UNP. Data collected by observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed according to the method developed by Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the learning of music in the classroom as an activity carried out by the main dedicated music teacher and allocating specific time for music learning on a regular basis to optimize the development of basic musical skills of learners. Abstract

The objective of this paper is to describe the phenomenon of cultural educational wisdom messages in the Minangkabau classic story, especially kaba stories contained in "Cindua Mato". It describes the existence of kaba as a literary work which contains educational wisdom among them: the message about character wisdom of the importance of education; knowledge about learning strategies, learning ethics; and character of educating children in a variety of occasions. This brief discussion is expected to be input to understand and analyze the existence of educational character wisdom in the Minangkabau classic story in the learning literature in the future. Abstract

This paper is aimed to figure out the students’characters which are built through EDP in STAIN Bukittinggi. Nowadays, in the process of learning English, the lecturer needs to consider about how to encourage the students’ characters, not just teaching them English. However, the English students tend to spend their time instudying the theories, reading English textbooks, and writing the resumes but less practicing. In this case, EDP provides additional time for the students in practicing English. So, the lecturer also has more chances to activate the students’ characters. Simply put, the lecturer can give treatments to influence the students in having a better life. These kinds of treatments can be given by the lecturer through one of EDP’s activities that is giving weekly motivation. The lecturer then can encourage the students continuously to speak English all day long while educate them to be diligent and have a high willing to practice their English.Moreover, the lecturer also can re-charge the students’ responsibility and integrity in running the program because the lecturer gives them her belief in order the students can be honest, cared and respect each other in doing the program while keeping EDP’s rules.Finally the lecturer can emphasize both students’ characters andtheir speaking abilityby giving weekly motivation in English Days Program itself.   Keywords: Student characters, weekly motivation

Abstract

PENGENALANDalam membicarakan perkembangan terkini yang dihadapi dan sedang dipraktikkan di rantau ASEAN1, beberapa perspektif boleh dilihat apabila membicarakan atau meninjau tentang isu-isu mutakhir di dalam seni pertunjukan. Seni pertunjukan sememangnya sudah sebati dengan pengaruh luaran seperti sosio-ekonomi dan juga politik sesebuah negara, di rantau yang berdekatan atau di kawasan yang mempunyai hubungan yang rapat. Namun, pada masa yang sama kedudukan atau sifat yang statik di dalam senario seni itu sendiri telah membentuk satu ruang tepu di mana tiada kondisi yang kontroversial atau yang unik berlaku di sesebuah negara. Dalam menganalisis dan membicarakan isu-isu mutakhir yang telah memberikan pengaruh di dalam senario seni pertunjukan dapat dilihat dari sudut pendidikan, penyelidikan, bentuk persembahan, tema, pentadbiran, kelestarian dan juga anjakan paradigma dalam menentukan hala tuju seni pertunjukan pada masaakan datang.

Abstract

RSBI SMA teachers are required to be able to teach their subjects using English as the medium of instruction. As the result, they need to improve their English. They went to English courses available in their surroundings. They were taught by the English instructor from the English course without considering their needs for the language skills. The data collected from SMAN1 and SMAN 10 Padang indicate that they need the four skills of English with different order of needs. Speaking skill appeared to be the most needed skill followed by listening, writing, and reading skills. It means that the speaking skill should have the biggest portion and the most emphasis in the implementation of the English training for the RSBI SMA teachers.

Abstract

 As the spearhead of educational success in terms of educators, teachers, and coaches, teachers in SMP/SMA in particular, is currently faced with how to change the perspective of the curriculum and instruction, particularly for adjusting to a new setting goals and how to learn from the KSTSP to Curriculum 2013. Teaching experience in the classroom has been more oriented to knowledge and skills, slowly but surely, should be changed to materials and instructional activities that promote educational attitudes (affective), or also called character education. Concerned to education in a learning attitude in education in the curriculum in 2013 does not mean reducing the meaningfulness of competence knowledge and skills in the instruction. Indeed, the nature of the substance is humanities education as learning, which educate students moral values ​​and attitude to the fineness of character. In other words, prioritize materials and learning activities in the sense of educating on the basic character of education, in addition to teaching the knowledge and practice the skills in learning, has become the essence of learning in Curriculum 2013, which must be followed up by the teacher with learning simple, integrated, and meaningful.   Keywords: Character Education; Curriculum 2013; learning

Abstract

This paper is talking about the oral tradition of the people belief of prohibition expression in categories about human life of Minangkabau society in custom areas Luhak Nan Tigo on the framework of the study of oral literature, oral traditions, and folklore. The people belief of prohibition expression in categories about human life is divided into the following subcategories, namely subcategories pregnancy, infancy, and childhood, the human body subcategories and folk medicine; subcategories home and housework; subcategories livelihoods and social relations; subcategories travel and transportation; subcategory of the romance, engagement, and marriage; and subcategories death and funeral customs. Talks about the people belief are related to the conviction, while the conviction is closely linked with the traditions and customs. All of them are summarized in two main points that are culture and ideology. Thus, when dealing with belief, including the people belief of prohibition expression in the oral literary should be placed on the framework that the problem is not whether it can be proven or not, true or not, but rather on how the values ​​contained in the text of prohibition expression functioning in the social community. Local wisdom which is form of the values ​​and philosophy of life is able to develop integrity of the society, a tool of social control, combining strength that are broke for social solidarity, group identity, and communal harmony. The functions give a signal that every society needs conviction, other conviction that can support life creativity in togetherness.
