Abstract

Abstract

Mentally healthy individuals can face all the challenges of life effectively. One of the indicators of mental health is the presence of psychological well-being. Parents who have children with special needs need to have high psychological well-being. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of conscientiousness and gratitude on psychological well-being on parents of children with special needs. This research is a quantitative study using Ryff's psychological well-being scales, Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6), and conscientiousness taken from the HEXACO-PI-R scale. The subjects in this study were selected using a purposive sampling technique with a total of 55 parents who have children with special needs. The hypotheses were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that conscientiousness and gratitude have a simultaneous effect of 62% on psychological well-being in parents who have children with special needs. However, among the conscientiousness variables and the gratitude variable which has the most dominant influence on psychological well-being is the gratitude variable.

Abstract

This study adapts and analyzes the psychometric properties of Prosocialness for Adults developed by Caprara in Indonesian with a sample of university students. The adaptation of this measuring instrument goes through several stages, starting from translation, back translation, testing the reliability coefficient, and collecting validity evidence in the form of content-based testing and internal structure testing using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). This study involved a sample of students in Bandung and Cimahi, as many as 273 students. The results showed that the Indonesian version of PSA Scale was declared reliable (alpha Cronbach = 0.841) and met the goodness of fit index criteria. Indonesian version of the PSA Scale measuring instrument has good psychometric properties, so it can be used for research or assessment purposes that measure degree prosocial in adolescent samples. This study suggests that the Indonesian version of the PSA Scale can be developed by adding a wider variety of samples, a larger sample size, and trying to relate to other variables to increase criterion validity

Abstract

Research shows that students with academic grit have better achievement, learning regulation, and resilience abilities than students without academic grit. Even so, research results show that it is still rare to find academic grit in a person. Academic hope is a positive psychological variable that has many benefits to positive educational variables and has been proven to be able to predict academic grit. This study tries to look back at the ability of academic hope to academic grit in middle school students. The participants used in this study were 194 students of SMK-SMAK Makassar. There were two instruments distributed to SMK-SMAK Makassar students, namely the academic hope scale and the academic grit scale which were distributed to research respondents. Tests on the data collected show that academic expectations can provide significant academic grit and make a large effective contribution. There are two aspects of academic expectations, namely pathway and agency. Path analysis as an additional analysis to see the predictive ability of each aspect of academic expectations shows that the path makes a large effective contribution, while the agency makes a small effective contribution. These results show the balance of academic expectations of one's academic grit.

Abstract

Although there have been several studies investigated the effect of COVID-19 outbreak on mental health, studies that specifically analyze the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on bank employees have not been investigated, especially during the new normal era. Therefore, this study aims to assess the mental health of bank employees and its correlation with dimensions of work motivation. This online cross-sectional study measured 403 participants using the DASS-21 and the MWMS scale. Participants who experienced depression, anxiety, and stress at the moderate to extremely severe level were 32.51%, 63.77%, and 7.94%. Furthermore, there are no differences in depression, anxiety, and stress on all demographic variables, except for the job position characteristics, which are significantly different on the anxiety scale. The correlation analysis results show that depression is negatively correlated with introjected regulation, identified regulation, and intrinsic motivation, whereas depression is positively correlated with the amotivation dimension; anxiety has a negative correlation with extrinsic regulation-material, introjected regulation, identified regulation, and intrinsic motivation; then stress is negatively correlated with the five dimensions including extrinsic regulation-social, extrinsic regulation-material, introjected regulation, identified regulation, and intrinsic motivation. These findings suggest that banks in Indonesia should provide mental health interventions for employees.

Abstract

The policy of working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic caused changes in the work environment and job demands that were suspected of causing cyberloafing. This study aims to determine the role of job boredom in mediating the effect of job demands on cyberloafing. Data were collected through online questionnaires to measure cyberloafing, job boredom and job demands from 116 participants who work as administrative staff. Data processing was carried out through regression techniques. The results showed that job demands had a significant effect on cyberloafing (β = 0.427, p = 0.000). After entering job boredom as a mediator, the results showed that the effect of job demands on cyberloafing decreased (β = 0.251, p = 0.004). These results indicate that job boredom can mediate (partially) the effect of job demands on cyberloafing. So, the effect of job demands on cyberloafing is even greater when those demands lead to work boredom. The  correlation between demographic data and research variables show that position, working hours and length of using internet  have a positive correlation with job demands; age, tenure, and working hours have a negative correlation with job boredom; age and tenure are negatively correlated with cyberloafing.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the phenomenon of abusive supervision faced by employees. Abusive supervision experienced by employees, namely verbally and non-verbally. The purpose of this study is to understand the dynamics of emotional regulation in employees who experience abusive supervision. The subjects of this study were three employees who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews on the subject and references to journals, books, research results and other data provided for research. The analysis technique used is Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings indicated that the process of regulatory dynamics carried out by the three research subjects included 3 (three) phases, namely the assessment phase, the emotional experience phase, and the behavioral response phase. The individual's tendency to develop and comply with standards despite experiencing abusive supervision can be an indication that the individual has good emotional regulation dynamics, while the individual's tendency to be passive is an indication of obstacles in the dynamics of emotional regulation.
