Abstract

This study aims to: (a) describe the episode of Ilana Tan's novel Sunshine Becomes You; (b) describe the movie episode of Sunshine Becomes You by director Rocky Soraya; (c) describe the episode of Ilana Tan's novel Sunshine Becomes You novel with Sunshine Becomes You directed by Rocky Soraya. This research type is qualitative research with descriptive method. This research data is the episode of novelty novel Sunshine Becomes You by Ilana Tan and Sunshine Becomes You film directed by Rocky Soraya. Data collection techniques have three stages. First, read Ilana Tan's Sunshine Becomes You novel, and then follow Sunshine Becomes You directed by Rocky Soraya. Second, the data collection phase of the novel episode of Sunshine Becomes You by Ilana Tan and Sunshine Becomes You film by director Rocky Soraya were collected through recording and observation techniques. Third, the stage of inventorying data into data inventory format. The research findings are episodes of 30 novel episodes, while in the film there are 26 episodes. In the film there are 5 additional episodes, and a reduction of 9 episodes, while the episode of a novel story that changes varies after being turned into a movie, found 15 episodes. It happens because of the creativity of the director while adapting the novel to the movie.Keywords : novel, movie, ekranisasi, episode

Abstract

This study  aimed to determine the structure and social function of folklore legend naming Batunabontar Batang Natal district Mandailing Natal district. The method used in this research was descriptive method. The data source of this research was the people who inhabit Batunabontar village, Batang Natal District, Mandailing Natal District. The instrument used in this study was the researcher himself and the informant based on the understanding of the structure and social function of the naming legend of a place. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation by observation and to strengthen the data obtained, direct interviews were carried out to the authorities in research on the Social Structure and Function of the Legend of the Naming of Batunabontar Village, Batang Natal District, Mandailing Natal District. The results of this study indicate that the Social Structure and Function of Naming Legend of Batunabontar Village, Batang Natal District, Mandailing Natal District has a unique history and structure and function in the village. The uniqueness of this Batunabontar makes the writer want to know the importance of the structure and function of the Batunabontar in Batang Natal District, Mandailing Natal Regency.

Abstract

This article aim to deskription (1) relation unsure, (2) estate unsure, (3) marriage unsure to be found in novel Hidup adalah Perjuangan by Azwar Sutan Malaka. The data of this study is copy or words written of object that direct to Minangkabau culture. This research use approximation sociology literature. The results of this research are (1) relation in Minangkabau is matrilineal relation. In the matrilineal system, women have fuction like the joint heirs of tribe and have estate, (2) in tradision Minangkabau, estate dont to sell, but the women do sell estate, so that appear a problem, and (3) marriage in Minangkabau have two arrangement , based on religion and tradision. Based on religion is talk marriage settlement, but based on tradision is follow some marriage manners , that is a propose, marriage and manjapuik marapulai. And if happened separation, dead separated or life separated, so according tradision a man beck to home with family.

Abstract

This article was structure and social function of folklore legend Si Untuang Sudah in Kanagarian Salido Sari Bulan District IV Jurai Pesisir Selatan Regency. Indonesian Literature Study Program, Department of Language and Literature of Indonesia, Faculty of Languages and Arts, State University of Padang. This study aims to describe the structure, and the functions contained in the story of Si Untuang Sudah in Kanagarian Salido Sari Bulan District IV Jurai Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research type is qualitative research by using descriptive method. Data were collected through interview, observation and recording with informant in Kanagariani Salido Sari Bulan District IV Jurai Pesisir Selatan Regency. Based on the research findings concluded the following matters. Structure of the story of Si Untuang Sudah can be described as folows: (a) figures of the legend Si Untuang Sudah, while the additional characters are Puti Linduang Moon, Rajo Angek Garang, Rajo Kuaso Kakek tuo, community (b) The path contained in legend Si Untuang is conventional groove; (c) there are several backgrounds contained in the story of Si Untuang Sudah, time setting, place, and social background. (d) The theme of the legend of Si Untuang has been about the greatness of God in showing his power; (e) The mandate we can take in the story is not to be emotional, do not be easy to believe in others, always be grateful and say thank you for what God has given you, to be wise before making a decision. The social function of the legend story of Si Untuang Sudah is for educating. entertaining, forming identity and tradition.Keywords: Structural, Social function, Folklore, Legend

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the structure and function of the poem in the event manyerakan marapulai and children daro at the wedding ceremony in the village of West Pasaman Tabek Sirah. This research is descriptive qualitative research method. The object of research in the form of rhymes and children's events manyerakan marapulai and children daro. Data analysis was performed with (1) transcripts of recording data into written language, (2) analyzing the data, (3) to classify the data into the aspects studied, (4) interpreting the data in accordance with the purposes of the study, (5) make the conclusion. The results of this study indicate that in the event manyerakan marapulai rhymes and children daro has a physical structure and inner structure. The physical structure consists of : diction, imagery, concrete words, figurative language, rhyme and Rithmah, while the inner structure consists of : theme, feeling, tone and atmosphere and mandate. Functions contained in the event manyerakan marapulai rhymes and children daro found ten functions, namely (1) as a means of communication, (2) the identity, (3) as an ornamental flower oral tradition, (4) as a means to preach, (5) as a means to educate, (6) as the embodiment of indigenou , (7) as a means of entertainment, (8) as symbols of culture, (9) evokes heroic values ​​and (10) to further humanize humans.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe of gender inequality to women in the novel Kenanga by Oka Rusmini. The type of this research was qualitative research by using analysis of descriptive method. The data of this research was novel Kenanga by Oka Rusmini. The technique of data collection was done through four stages: (1) read and understood the novel as a whole, (2) determined the character, (3) identified data related to the kinds of gender inequality, the factors of gender inequality, the impacts of gender inequality, and (4) inventorized of data based format inventory data. Based on results of study,it can be concluded that: (1) the types of gender inequality are marginalization, subordination, negative stereotype, violance and burden; (2) the factors of gender inequality are caste factor, patriarchy culture, culture, social and economy; (3) the impacts of gender inequality are psychology, the destroy of idealism and moral.Keywords: gender inequality, women, feminism

Abstract

This article portrays the culture of entertainment, consumerism, pragmatism, secularism or profane lifestyle, hedonism, taste uniformity and instant culture in Ika Natassa's Critical Eleven metropop novel. The research is qualitative research and using descriptive method.  Based on the results of data analysis found the portrait of urban communities in the novel metropop Critical Eleven as follows. First, entertainment culture, such as music, traveling to places of interest, shopping, sports, partying and more browsing the internet and chatting with friends through social media. Secondly, the culture of consumerism, such as buying expensive goods for toys and collectibles, the use of well-known brands as their fashion, "hunting" food in famous restaurants and shopping, and for the particular needs of urban societies more attentive to the quality and costliness of goods. Third, pragmatism, society becomes antifondationalist, antirepresentationalist, and antirealist. Fourth, secular or profane lifestyle, religion is not so important in today's life. Fifth, hedonis, like living full of entertainment, royal or consumptive, and make fashion as a self-image. Sixth, the uniformity of the sense, that makes the community no longer have a distinctive culture. Seventh, instant culture, teaches that life needs a process to achieve success.Keywords: urban community, metropop novel, literature

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the meaning contained in the text Pasambahan Manjapuik Marapulai in Kenagarian Koto-Tinggi Sub-district Baso Regency Agam Districtusing semiotic theory. This study uses semiotic theory proposed by Charle Sanders Pierce. This research looks at the signs contained in text form Pasambahan Manjapuik Marapulai symbol, index and icon. Data collected through library research, observation, interviews and some of the data taken from the internet. Data analysis was done descriptively. The results of these findings are the first, there are 31signs symbols, 5 marks icon and 3marks index. The results of this study are the signs contained in the text Pasambahan Manjapuik Marapulai. Next, look for the inner meaning behind these signs. The meaning contained in the  only explicit but implied meaning of meaning and cultural semiotic meanings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are for describing (1) Individual social conflict that with his self  in novel  Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi, (2) Individual social conflict with his family in novel Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi, and (3) Individual social conflict with social environment in novel Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi. The data of this research are quotation or the words were written by object that will have been observed, which going to individual social conflict with his self, family, and social environment. The source of this research is Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru, the novel by Khairul Jasmi. There are ways for taking the data, those are : (1) reading and understanding  the novel that wanted to observed, (2) marking all the event that topic going to the problems research, and (3) make a data list based on data list format.  The invention of this research are individual social conflict in the novel Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi involves the individual social conflict that with his self , with his family, and with social environment.

Abstract

This article aims to: (a) presents a transliteration Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharran and Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib texts, and (b) serves over language Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharran dan Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib texts. The results of this study is to present a text that can be read and understood by the people now on the text of the Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharram and Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib. The results of this study also presents the text has been adapted to the Indonesian Spelling (EBI). This text recounts every good practices such as fasting, charity, and the other was in the month of Muharram and Ashura, the reward will be multiplied practice. In the manuscript Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharran and Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib text is a vocabulary that shows the variety of old Malay language in it.
