Abstract

This article describes the world of and images of women depicted in women fiction writer, particularly in short story literature. In depicting women’s world, an Indonesian writer tends to focus on their domestic than public life. This is because domestic life is considered safer for women, and women are considered best settled in the domestic life. There are six images closely associated with women; a mother, a loyal woman, a successful woman, a second woman, an ideal woman, and a bad woman. Mother image is the most found, 14 of 15 fictions examined in this research. The description of domestic life associates with mother image, because the two are closely related with the life of Indonesian women. Key words: women’s world, women’s image, women’s literature

Abstract

Child-created children’s literature that grown in Indonesia in 2000s, particular-ly those about family, tends to describe women as mothers. This is because the young writers still live with their mothers that the nurturing habits of the mother are reflected in their writing. The mothers in the child-created children’s literature are described as beautiful, smart, self-reliant, and independent from their husbands (the fathers) in making decisions about the children. This pleasures the children and helps them in self-improvement. The mothers in the literature are also described as the women who are active in domestic as well as public life.Key words: women’s representation, child-created children’s literature, mother

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this jurnal is to describe the corelation between students’ reading appreciative short story and writing short story text skill of VII grade MTs. N Lubuk Buaya Padang. This research is quantitative research in term of description of corelation study. Based on the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that. First, students’ skill in reading appreciative short story of VII grade MTs. N Lubuk Buaya Padang is good with the avarage score 80,57. Second, students’ skill in writing short story text is good with the avarage score is 76,67. Third, based on t test,  it can be concluded that there is significant corelation between students’ skill in reading appreciative short story and students’ skill in writing short story text of VII grade MTs. N Lubuk Buaya Padang because t counted is bigger than t table (12,19>2,021). Kata kunci:  hubungan, membaca apresiatif, keterampilan menulis, teks cerpen

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe the educational values of character in Andrea Hirata’s novel entitled Ayah. The research is a qualitative descriptive method. The approach taken in this study is a mimetic approach.This research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences and the discourse displaying events and characters that indicate the educational values of character in Andrea Hirata’s Ayah novel including: (1) religious, (2) honest, (3) creative, (4) independent, (5) pacifist, (6) worker, (7) curious, (8) friendly, (9) who likes reading, (10) nationalist, and (11) patriotic. The techniques of collecting research data here are to read and understand, decide the main character and supporting character, inventory, interpret, and conclude.Kata kunci: nilai, pendidikan, karakter, implikasi

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe (1) the form of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron, (2) the cause of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron, (3) the settlement of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron. The research is a qualitative descriptive method. The approach taken in this study is the approach of sociology of literature. Data of this study are the elements of the novel that reveals social conflicts contained in the novel Inheritance work Chairul Harun include: (1) the forms of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron, (2) the cause of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron , (3) the forms of social conflict resolution in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron. This research data collection techniques are read and understand, identify, inventory, and mengklasisifikasikan data relating to social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairu Aaron. Based on the research results, it can be concluded social conflict in the novel Inheritance Chairul Aaron's work as follows. First, the forms of social conflict, namely; personal conflicts as a result of another person; The main figures conflict with the family; The main figures conflict with the community. Second, penyebabtimbulnya social conflict, namely; economic factors; biological factors; psychological factors; cultural factors. Third, the forms of social conflict resolution, namely conciliation / peace; mediation; coercion / force; détente / loosening. This research may be implicated in learning Indonesian curriculum SBC / 2006 class XI 1st half at SK. 7 Finding elements of intrinsic and extrinsic saga, with KD7.2 Analyzing the intrinsic elements novel Indonesia / translation. Kata kunci: konflik sosial, novel, implikasi

Abstract

Ketidakadilan gender yang dialami oleh perempuan tergambar dalam karya sastra, tidak saja yang dikarang oleh perempuan, tetapi juga karya sastra yang dikarang oleh pengarang laki­laki. Dalam Cerita dari Blora karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer, ketidakadilan gender itu sangat terlihat yang meliputi; marginalisasi, subordinasi, stereotip, dan kekerasan. Dalam Cerita dari Blora karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer, ketidakadilan gender berupa beban kerja ganda tidak ditemukan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh belum banyaknya kaum perempuan yang berkiprah di dunia publik pada masa cerita ini dibuat, artinya belum banyak perempuan yang mempunyai pendidikan yang memadai sehingga layak dipekerjakan di luar rumah tangga. Oleh karena itu, tidak ada perempuan yang digambarkan memegang peran ganda, baik sebagai ibu rumah tangga maupun sebagai pekerja (wanita karier). Abstract: Gender inequality experienced by women is reflected in literary works, not only those written by women writer but also those written by men writer. In Pramoedya Ananta Toer?s Cerita Dari Blora, gender inequalities are very clearly seen; those are marginalization, subordination, stereotype, and cruelty. However, double­working load is not found in this novel. It means that only few women working in the public world when this story was made. Also, those who were educated women were still rare so that they just hold the role of housekeeper. Therefore, there is no woman holding double role both as a housewife and a career woman. Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure and social functions of the expression prohibition of the human body and drugs in the village of Talago Gunung Village Barangin District Sawahlunto. The theory used in this research is folklore theory. This research type is qualitative research with descriptive method. Data obtained from oral sources and words informants community of Talago Gunung Village Barangin Sub District Sawahlunto equipped with the recording phase, then transcribed into the form of writing. The transcribed results are translated, as well as the collection of data on the story environment conducted by recording, observation and interview techniques. Data is validated by triangulation technique,furthermore, the data were analyzed by data inventory, classification / data analysis, discussion, conclusion, and reporting. The result of this research is social structure and function of people's trust expression prohibition society of Talago Gunung Village Barangin Sub District Sawahlunto, can be concluded that there are 52 expression prohibition, that is 45 phrases which is structure of two parts and 7 phrase which is structure of three parts. Furthermore, there are 6 expressions which serve as a function of the reinforcement of religious emotion or belief, 2 as a function of the imaginary projection system, 36 educational functions, and 52 expressions of prohibiting and enjoining and entertaining functions are not found in the data.Keywords: structure, functions, expression, prohibition

Abstract

This study aimed to describe and analyze the form and use of sound in the Poetry Collection Book Tidak Ada New York Hari Ini by M. Aan Mansyur. To achieve these objectives the theory is used: (1) the nature of poetry, (2) theory of structuralism, (3) elements of poetry building, (4) sound elements in poetry, (5) alliteration and aconance, (6) cacophony and efoni, (7) anaphora and epiphora, and (8) the function of sound in poetry. Based on the analysis in the poetry collection, There is Tidak Ada New York Hari Ini, the work of M. Aan Mansyur, found 14 sounds of alliteration, 24 sounds of aconance, 17 sounds of cacophony, 23 sounds of ephony, 10 sounds of anaphora and 2 sounds of epiphora. There are 4 functions of the use of sound elements, namely: (1) expressive energy, (2) giving suggestions to the reader, (3) means of musicality, and (4) providing an atmosphere / special impression.Keyword: form, exploiting of sound, anthology poems, Tidak Ada New York Hari Ini, M. Abstract

This thesis aims to describe the form of social criticism of war in song lyric of Iwan Fals and Bob Dylan and the comparation of them. This thesis belongs to qualitative research. Subject of this research is song lyric of Iwan Fals from www.iwanfals.co.id and song lyric of Bob Dylan from www.bobdylan.com. The research focused to songlyricthat contains social criticism of war theme and applied to comparative literature theory. The method to analyze this data is descriptive analysis. Validity of data obtained by triangulation technique. Based on the results of the study concluded the following points. First, social criticism of war in song lyric of Iwan Fals described by persuade form. Second, social criticism of war in song lyric of Bob Dylan described by curse form. Third, sosial criticism of war in song lyric of Iwan Fals and Bob Dylan described by different form because different orientation: Iwan Fals tendents to push foward persuade form because war is only an useless, meanwhile Bob Dylan tendents to push foward curse form because war is very cruel.Keywords: song lyric, social criticism, comparative literature

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the image of the Muslim woman character in the novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, and Jilbab in Love written by Asma Nadia. This was a qualitative research with descriptive method based on content analysis. Object of this study was novel  Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, and Jilbab in Love written by Asma Nadia. Data analysis was done by (1) classifying the data associated with the image of the Muslim woman, (2) interpreting the data associated with the image of Muslim women, (3) analyzing and inventorying data associated with the image of Muslim women, (4) concluding the data. The findings of this research indicate that the image of the Muslim women in the novel  Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, and Jilbab in Love written by Asma Nadia is women who are honest and keep his verbal, patient and sincere women, women who are fasting and keep her prayer, women who maintain honor and views, the women who remember Allah/God remembrance, and qanitaat.Keywords: image of woman, moeslimah, Asma Nadia, novel
