This article aims at explaining the problems in traditional Kain dance in Painan Timur district, Pesisir Selatan regency. Nowadays problems in Kain dance revolve around its preservation and packaging. The presentation of Kain dance is no longer relevant with the growth of preference of entertaining art of the society. The preservation does not suit the sustainability of the Kain dance in the future. Therefore, Kain dance is no longer functional but marginal. The research is qualitative, where data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is then analysed using ethnography and phenomenology. The research found that the weakness of traditional Kain dance in its presentation comes from its artistic movement aspect, dramatization, dynamics of the show, and originality of the costume and make-up. Besides that, the pattern of preservation is found only in keeping the training form of a specific place of the heir of the dance. There is no visible effort to further preserve the Kain dance in actual and effective model of its sustainability.

Justice and openness are among the values of working culture needed to support the development of civil society and democracy. Justice means that the works done by civil servants should be free from discrimination in any aspects, while openness means everyone who deals with the government offices should get transparent informations about things they deal with. This research aims to analyse the effects of the ethnical working culture to justice and openness in working culture of the civil servants in the Pasaman Barat Administrations. The research finds that ethnical culture tend to influence the civil servants in working justly and openly. To solve the problem, civil servantsâ€™ working culture in the government offices needs to change, which can be done by integrating the working culture set by the government with the positive ethnical culture and religious teachings in order to build democratic civil society. PLOT DALAM KUMPULAN CERPEN SAKINAH BERSAMAMU KARYA ASMA NADIA DENGAN ANALISIS FEMINIMISMEAbstractThis study aims to obtain an understanding about the plot in a collection of short stories "Sakinah Bersamamu" by Asma Nadia. This study used a qualitative approach assisted by analysis of feminism. Documentation and observation are used in the data collection technique. Research data are in the forms of plot, stage of plot, and a form of conflict, and the form of completion in a collection of short stories "Sakinah Bersamamu" by Asma Nadia. The results of research isthe plot in the short story collection Sakinah Bersamamu by Asma Nadia, they generally have two forms: the form of plot forward and plot backward, with the stages of starting point with a simple introduction, conflict, recognition of conflict, complication, denouement, and resolution. Forms of conflicts in the collection of short stories in the form of inner conflict and the solution is in the form of closed and open. Plot presented by Asma Nadia in a collection of short stories "Sakinah Bersamamu" is able to bring the event-by-event of problems about the conflict in the household, ranging from problems in social life, the problems of the family, especially the husband, and the problems of the past.Keyword: plots, the short story collection, feminisme analysis AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh pemahaman tentang plot dalam kumpulan cerpen ”Sakinah Bersamamu” karya Asma Nadia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan dibantu analisis feminisme. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan observasi. Data penelitian berupa bentuk plot, tahapan plot, dan bentuk konflik, dan bentuk penyelesaian dalam kumpulan cerpen ”Sakinah Bersamamu” karya Asma Nadia. Hasil penelitian yaitu plot dalam kumpulan cerpen Sakinah Bersamamu karya Asma Nadia, secara umum memilik dua bentuk yaitu berbentuk plot maju dan berbentuk plot mundur, dengan tahapan dimulai dengan pengenalan sederhana, konflik, pengenalan penyebab konflik, komplikasi, peleraian, dan penyelesaian. Bentuk konflik dalam kumpulan cerpen berupa konflik batin dan penyelesaiannya berbentuk tertutup dan terbuka. Plot yang dihadirkan oleh Asma Nadia dalam kumpulan cerpen “Sakinah Bersamamu” mampu menghadirkan peristiwa demi peristiwa tentang permasalahan dalam rumah tangga, mulai dari permasalahan dalam kehidupan sosial, permasalahan dari dalam keluarga terutama suami, dan permasalahan dari masa lalu.Kata kunci: plot, kumpulan cerpen, analisis feminisme

The objective of this study is to describe the ethical values of public service among public service personnel at Department of Education in Padangpanjang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of ex post-facto. Population in this consisted of 10,864 individuals of heads of household in two districts and 16 villages of Padangpanjang. Sample was taken in two stages, cluster sampling and proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using a statistical percentage, mean, and other central tendency according to research interests. Results of this study indicated that the ethical values of public service among public service personnel at the Department of Education in Padangpanjang City has not been well implemented.Key words: ethical values, attitudes, public service, educational service

This study aims to examine the biography of pantomime figures named Jemek Supardi, who is known as the maestro of Indonesian pantomime, which includes: life history, way of thinking and his roles in developing pantomime in Indonesia. This study uses biographical theory, by telling the life of a character. This study also uses some supporting theories: life history theory, creativity theory, and role theory. This research is a qualitative research with a biographical study approach to describe the history of one's life (life history). Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. Jemek Supardi Supardi's research as subject of study. Data analysis by arranging, sorting, categorizing and grouping the results of observations, interviews, and documentation studies that have been collected. Data analysis is process by reducing the data become a logical and systematic the description. The results and the discussions from The Background of Jemek Supardi Life History is a tenacious person who dares to try new things. Flowing movement is the initial capital in practicing pantomime. His family and environment made Jemek Supardi confident in his abilities. Emotional memories, internal press creativity and external press creativity were the foundation thinking of Jemek Supardi. Jemek Supardiworks as an artist and resource person is a manifestation of his role in the existence of mime in Indonesia.Keywords: Jemek Supardi, Pantomime, Life History.JEMEK SUPARDI, MIME ARTIST INDONESIA (Sebuah Kajian Sejarah Hidup)Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji biografi tokoh pantomime bernama Jemek Supardi yang dikenal sebagai maestro pantomim Indonesia, yang meliputi: sejarah hidup, pemikiran dan peran dalam mengembangkan pantomim di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori biografikal yaitu penceritaan tentang kehidupan tokoh. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan teori pendukung yaitu: teori sejarah hidup, teori kreativitas, teori peran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi biografikal untuk memaparkan tentang sejarah hidup seseorang (life history). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian Jemek Supardi. Analisis data dengan cara mengatur, mengurutkan, mengkategorikan serta mengelompokkan hasil observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi yang telah terkumpul. Analisis data dengan mereduksi kumpulan data menjadi perwujudandeskripsi yang logis dan sistematis. Hasil dan pembahasan Latar belakang Sejarah Hidup Jemek Supardi merupakan peribadi yang ulet dan berani mencoba hal baru. Gerakan mengalir adalah modal awal dalam berlatih pantomim. Keluarga dan lingkungannya membuat Jemek Supardi yakin dengan kemampuannya. Ingatan emosi, kreativitas internal press dan kreativitas external press menjadi landasan pola piker Jemek Supardi. Jemek Supardi berkarya sebagai seorang seniman dan narasumber merupakan wujud peranya dalam eksistensi pantomim di Indonesia.Kata Kunci: Jemek Supardi Supardi, Pantomim, Life History.

Exploitation of women now comes in new faces; through the mass media. Media currently has a dual role, like two sides of a coin, on one side the media serves as a mediator for the improvement and progress of the nation, on the other side contributes to the suppression of media for the benefit of market capitalism toward consumer culture women once again being the subject of image construction. Expansion of the market and the mass media can not be separated from the flow of consumerism, because the mass media (particularly advertising on television) is an extension of the market to boost sales of industrial products in the form of imagery that originates from the "mode of production". Through the process of meaning people are affected by the image created by the market and advertisement that increase their consumptive behavior. Here begins the role of advertising in blurring the identity as the supporting tool of consumerism, therefore those who identify themselves as modern men are no longer themselves but apparently no more than "Robot Man" impersonator without original identity, the principle of life pawned in the name of modernity. Women are vying to look beautiful, to buy up all whitening products, hair straightener tools, body slimming drugs, making them "Paranoid" who are restless because being haunted by old age. Actually they are aware of the exploitation, but enjoy it on the pretext of style and fashion.Key words: women, exploitation, mass media

Color is a symbolic expression tool used by humans to translate the intentions and ideas of its users, not exception the color names used in proverbs. This research is a qualitative descriptive which aims to describe the meaning of Madurese proverbs which contain color name elements and their relation to the Madurese life principles. The data of this study are Madura proverbs which contain color name elements. Furthermore, primary data sources come from informants and secondary data sources come from books and internet pages. Data were analyzed using an ethnolinguistic approach with ethnoscience methods. The results showed that 6 Madurese proverbs used the color name elements. The colors are potѐ ‘white’, celleng ‘black’, and konѐng ‘yellow’. Each same color can have a different meaning in each proverb. Besides, the six proverbs that use the color name elements become Madurese life guidelines in running their life, such as having to maintain self-esteem, be humble, avoid abuse of power, keep trying, be a person who has good character, and associate with people who bring benefits. Thus, this research is fundamental because the color is not just a symbol of beauty, but it can show the culture of its users in the form of language expression.

The purpose of the article is (1) to gather empirical facts about the use of words and terms in Indonesian literatures, (2) understand implicature (aditional message) behind the the dynamic use of words and terms in Indonesian literatures. The fact about awareness of the usage of Indonesian language in literatures is expected to be supporting data in the development of Indonesian language history. The source of the data is Indonesian literatures including novels. The data are collected by reading technique, marking out, and taking notes. The data are analyzed using comparison technique, a technique that use words or terms in certain time and compared to those from another time. The result of this analysis shows that in 1980â€™s, many Indonesia literatures used vernacular words and terms. This period of time can be used as an alternatif to mark the development of Indonesian language, especially the development of the vocabulary. Besides, the use of words and terms in the speech of Indonesian novel characters are an implication that Indonesian society, particularly the writers are worried that traditional culture will be shifted by national culture. PERSPEKTIF GENDER DALAM DWILOGI NOVEL PADANG BULAN DAN CINTA DI DALAM GELAS KARYA ANDREA HIRATA : Kajian Struktur dan Kritik Sastra Feminisme serta Relevansinya sebagai Bahan Bacaan Sastra di SMAAbstractThis study aimed at describing the structure and the gender perspective in the two serial novels of Padang Bulan and Cinta di dalam Gelas, and to know the relevance of the gender perspective in the two novels. This study uses two theories, namely the theory of structure and literary criticism on feminism that focuses on women as readers. Structural theory is used to analyze the intrinsic elements in the novels. The theory of feminist literary criticism is used to assess gender perspective in the novels. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that (1) the structure of the novels Padang Bulan and Cinta di dalam Gelas in the form of theme, plot, character and characterization, setting, point of view, and the mandate, (2) a gender perspective which appears in the serial novels Padang Bulan and Cinta di dalam Gelas in the form of gender equality and gender inequity. Gender equality in the Padang Bulan novel is shown in form of access, participation and control. Then, gender injustice in Padang Bulan is in the forms of marginalization of women, the subordination of women, streotipe against women, violence against women, and workload. (3) the serial novels Padang Bulan and Cinta di dalam Gelas are highly relevant as literature reading material for high schools.Keyword: gender, structure, feminismAbstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur dan perspektif gender dalam dwilogi novel Padang Bulan dan Cinta di Dalam Gelas, serta mengetahui relevansi perspektif gender dalam dwilogi novel tersebut. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini dipergunakan dua teori, yaitu teori struktur dan kritik sastra feminisme yang berfokus pada perempuan sebagai pembaca. Teori struktural digunakan untuk menganalisis unsur-unsur intrinsik dalam dwilogi novel tersebut. Teori kritik sastra feminis digunakan untuk mengkaji perspektif gender dalam dwilogi novel tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif analisis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) struktur dalam dwilogi novel Padang Bulan dan Cinta di Dalam Gelas berupa tema, alur, tokoh dan penokohan, latar, sudut pandang, dan amanat, (2) perspektif gender yang muncul dalam dwilogi novel Padang Bulan dan Cinta di Dalam Gelas berupa kesetaraan gender dan ketidakadilan gender. Kesetaraan gender dalam novel Padang Bulan berupa akses, partisipasi, dan kontrol. Adapun ketidakadilan gender dalam novel Padang Bulan berupa marginalisasi terhadap perempuan, subordinasi terhadap perempuan, streotipe terhadap perempuan, kekerasan terhadap perempuan, dan beban kerja. (3) dwilogi novel Padang Bulan dan Cinta di Dalam Gelas sangat relevan dijadikan sebagai bahan bacaan sastra di SMA.Kata kunci: gender, struktur, feminisme
