Abstract

For at least hundreds of years Arab travelers and merchants, especially those originating from Hadhramaut, have had special relationship with Southeast Asia and its people. Historically this relationship has been very deep and permanent; sociologically extensive and continuous; and culturally heavy manifesting in various significant, and influential ways. One such influence is the adoption of many Arabic elements in the languages used in Indonesia. On the contrary, the Arabic language used by the Hadhramis in the archipelago was also influenced by Malayo-Indonesian language. This study aims to describe such use of loan words from Malay and Dutch in the Arabic language of the Hadhramis. The present study is data oriented. Some twenty-five copies of letters written in Arabic by the Hadhramis are analyzed. A closer look at the letters or correspondences from and to Hadhramaut and the Indonesian archipelago revealed that some Malay and Dutch lexicons were also used in their correspondences which were written in Arabic. Such use may indicate at least two aspects, socio-linguistic and socio-political. At the socio-linguistic aspect, the use of Malay and Dutch elements can be said as early process of bilingualism and adoption of new linguistic identity, while at the socio-political level such use shows how the beginning of the identification and adoption of new local or national identity.

Abstract

Higher education is an institution that nurtures the birth of quality intellectual resources. Universities contribute to improving the quality of Human Resources (HR), including the Raden Fatah State Islamic Institute (IAIN) as one of the Islamic Universities located in Palembang City. Factually, IAIN Raden Fatah developed and planned the institutional change of IAIN into Raden Fatah State Islamic University (UIN). The development effort has been carried out since 2003. This effort is interesting to be studied and investigated in more depth. As a public organization, the vision of the organization is very important and determines the wheels of the organization affecting the overall mission and management mechanism. IAIN's organizational vision affects the organizational structure, science and the role of institutions as pioneers of change and readiness to face global competitiveness. The purpose of this study is to describe the formulation of the vision, development of scientific orientation and competitiveness as the basis of the campus management's efforts in carrying out a process of change. Change management is carried out as a theoretical framework to find out the process carried out by IAIN to achieve the big goal of becoming UIN Raden Fatah. It is recognized that the changes made have taken at least 10 years, and in 2014 began to see results. The results of this study indicate that the vision that was initiated, formulated and implemented as a reference for the entire academic community of IAIN Raden Fatah, which was recorded 19 times, underwent changes and greatly influenced the institutional performance in achieving these great goals. In the scientific context, the scientific model formulated by Ismail about the "House of Science" can be accepted as planning for the development of IAIN Raden Fatah. The biggest challenge is global and inter-institutional competitiveness by improving curriculum, evaluation, materials, and training for lecturers and other education personnel.

A literature study on the content of the Qur’an in several relevant verses is conducted directly. In addition, a qualitative descriptive approach was used to conduct a phenomenological study on Muslim families in Indonesia. The author obtained an investigation of the verses of the Qur'an on the basis of this research which emphasizes the critical position. The nature of field observations also supports the findings of the literature. Researchers can draw conclusions about the role of fathers in family interaction on the cognitive competence of students

Abstract

Every conflict and war has a pre-history, such as Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is one of them. In the current scenario, the Nagorno-Karabakh has become the centre of international politics. The article focuses on the conflicts of Nagorno Karabakh, about its actual geo-location, integrity, and sovereignty. Also, in this study, we have tried to highlight the political agenda of the world’s top leading countries like Russia and France was backed by Armenia. At the same time Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Israel supported Azerbaijan. On 10th November 2020, after six weeks of fierce fighting, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to end the military operation over the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute, the ceasefire brokered by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Armenian leader Nikol Pashinyan has described the decision to agree on a ceasefire as ‘painful’ for him and their citizens, while Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has claimed victory. Perhaps, the objective of the full involvement of Turkey in this fight was to give a signal of emerging as a leading country in the Muslim World. The ceasefire was organized by Russia between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which keeps Turkey and western countries out of the final peace talk, which seems like Russia wants to show remains a dominant power and its impact in the South Caucasus.

Abstract

Seven Dignity is one of the controversial teachings because it contains the thoughts of Waḥdat al-Wujud Ibn Arabi in it. Seven Martabat first time emerged from the Sufism text written by Muhammad Ibnu Syeikh Fadhlullah Al-Burhanfuri Al-Hindi, At-Tuhfah al-Mursalah Ila Ruh an-Nabiy, which is the material object of this research. This research is a literature review using philological and philosophical approaches. Meanwhile, the data analysis used content analysis. This book contains the seven divine dignity which is based on the philosophical thinking of Ibn Arabi. In the process of spiritual alignment with Khaliq, a salik must go through seven stages of dignity, namely 1. La Ta'ayyun's Dignity, 2. Early Ta'ayyun's Dignity, 3. Ta'ayyun Sani's Dignity, 4. 'Alam Al -'Arwah, 5. 'Alam Al-Misal,' 6. Alam Al-'Ajsam, and 7. 'Alam Al-'Insan. In it it is very identical with the Neoplatonic peripatetic view of the mind, making it part of God, and equating it with the attributes of God and Plato's World of Ideas..

Abstract

The paper discusses Quranic methodology of interpretation as set forth by Hamka (1908-1981) in Tafsir al-Azhar. It analyses the comprehensive method he crafted and the dynamic approach he brought out in textual exegesis. The extensive discussion and exposition of creative legal thought and ruling, history, mysticism, moral, theology, religion and culture reflected his typical and profound ijtihad (independent reasoning) and philosophy as substantively employed in this work. The method employed in this study was descriptive and analytical. It looked into themes brought forth in Tafsir al-Azhar and deduce its understanding and ideas that the author tried to formulate and projected. The study concluded that Tafsir al-Azhar was crafted based on certain al-adabi al-ijtima‘i’s approach (cultural social). It was a highly authoritative and monumental work produced with convincing analysis and being a dominant and vital reference in the work of tafsir in the Malay-Indonesian archipelago. The Tafsir emphasized on rational approach in understanding Quranic text reflecting the profound impact and inspiration from Tafsir al-Manar, its principal reference, and was highly influential in the intellectual tradition and modern development of tafsir that flourished in the Malay-Indonesian archipelago.
