Abstract

Sustainable professional development of pedagogic teachers is a strategic effort to improve the competence and performance of teachers in carrying out their duties and functions as planners, implementers, and evaluation of learning in the classroom. This research aims to examine the improvement of innovative, creative, adaptive, and productive quality of PBI based on Indonesian text and character through the SKBP model of teachers in junior high schools and MTs. This research was conducted using qualitative approach with survey type. The research subjects were PBI teachers in 6 junior high schools and MTs selected research target locations by using random patterns of strata. Descriptive data of 5 research objects obtained by researchers as a key instrument with interview techniques, questionnaires, and focused observations. Data analysis was carried out using a flow model during the study. The development models used are R2D2 model: Recursive, Reflective Instructional Design and Development and Oxford training strategy model. The assessment of the effectiveness of the SKBP model was carried out using a qualitative approach with the type of class action research of the Kemmis and Taggart models. The research subjects were PBI teachers and grade VIII students at 6 junior high schools in Malang districts and cities. Further data analysis is done descriptively, including (1) improvement of pbi process based on Indonesian text and character using SKBP model and (2) improvement of PBI results based on Indonesian text and character using SKBP model.

Abstract

Vocabulary and grammar are the most essential components of all use of language as they have to be taught to the language learner to support to the development of the four skills, especially for writing skills Richard (1987:45). Unfortunately, Grammar has been believed as the most terrific problem for most of adolescence learners. They were terrific to construct wrong order of sentence (grammar) and this problem will effect on creating ideas in writing. This case indicates that grammar should be mastered by English learners especially students who want to create ideas in writing. Teacher races game provides a series of fun activity, and gives all the members’ opportunity to work cooperatively (Smith, 2008). This game can fulfill teacher’s need that is link and integrate four basics English language skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing skills into learning and teaching activity. This study was an experimental quantitative study which needs two subject groups – experimental and control group. The population chosen is one state junior high school in Surabaya. The simple random samples used; and VIII C as an experimental class and VIII A as a control class. The pre-test and post-test were given to both of the groups. Tests consist of tryout, pre-test and post-test that were used to collect the data. According to the collected data, the researcher made statistical calculation by using t-test and analysis to answer the research question. Ttest results were examined to know the comparison of experimental and control groups’ mean. The ttest of pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental and control group presented tvalue10.93. Meanwhile, the tvalue for rejecting the null hypothesis with df 50 at t.05 was 2.009. It indicated that tvalue > than tvalue (10.93>2.009) so that it can be concluded that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

From the results of data analyzing, the conclusions are: 1) there is not yet adequate access to education at the State Junior High School level when it is compared to the number of graduates from State Elementary Schools; 2) from the nine zones in the zoning map of Cimahi, there were only 6 graduates from State Elementary Schools that can be accommodated in State Junior High Schools; and 3) there are still a large number of Elementary Schools graduates for the 2019/2020 school year who have not been accommodated in the zoned State Junior High Schools. Therefore, from the result of this study, it can be recommended that the increase in the number off class units is still needed, and the development of New School Units for State Junior High Schools which refers to laws and regulations, which to organize the zoning system in Cimahi in the form of Mayor Regulations.

Abstract

Self-assessment in learning is rarely used during classroom learning. Students as adults should engage in self-assessment to accommodate need. The reflection journal writing activities used by students at the end of each study are one alternative to self-assessment. Reflective thinking, reflective questions, reflections and reflective practices are often used interchangeably, although there is little difference. The purpose of this research is to know the results of reflective journal product development in accordance with validation experts, lecturer studies, and student responses. This type of research method is research and development. The validity rate of journal developed amounted to 85% of learning evaluation experts, 96% of psychology, 90% of Indonesian language experts. The progress of students' learning abilities will be improved by the release of reflective journals. The number of reflective journals is 22 journals in each semester consisting of 16 journals of lecture meetings and 6 follow-up journals of reflection results. Self-assessment in reflective journals can be observed in the naked eye. If the student does not experience changes while studying, then the student can be said to be hampered in the learning process. Students can determine their own learning abilities.
