Abstract

The discussion of the Church's Hope on Eternal Life is a very interesting topic to explore during this pandemic situation which has taken many lives every second. This theme is very close to human life. The problem to be discussed into this research is, to begin with about how Catholics are in their faith relationship. Furthermore, is about how Christians embrace the COVID-19 pandemic situation and involves other people around them doing the same. For eternal life which has been for them since baptism is not a promise in vain. It takes effort and cares to grow it all. These problems were discussed using qualitative research methods with respondents who came from various backgrounds of age, occupation, place of residence, and status of their involvement in church life. The finding of this study is that Catholics manifest their faith by doing positive activities that involve others such as sharing positive experiences, struggles, and strengthening spiritual life. In addition, to embrace this pandemic, Catholics raise awareness of Christian solidarity, because for a member of the Church, faith must not be individualistic. To sum up, Spe Salvi's encyclical helps people open and lift themselves from the trap of despair and stand firm of their faith. Thus contemplation of actions and contemplated actions becomes a powerful weapon to spread Catholicism during this pandemic.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the implementation of Catholic religious education in the Church (Parish) for Catholic students who attend public schools, and do not receive Catholic religious education because there are no Catholic teachers who teach in public schools at the elementary, junior high, high school and vocational school levels. The research was conducted on 47 Catholic churches that carry out Catholic religious education for Catholic students studying in public schools in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta with 78 respondents. The finding is that quite some public schools at the elementary, junior high, high school, and vocational levels with 15 students and above do not receive Catholic teaching in their schools because there are no Catholic religious teachers who teach at these schools. The main problem of this research is: can efforts to improve the quality of Catholic religious education for public students in the Catholic Church in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta overcome the problem of the lack of Catholic religious teachers teaching in public schools?. Efforts to improve the quality of the implementation of Catholic religious education for public students carried out in the Catholic Church have a positive impact on fostering Catholic students and in fulfilling the obligations of academic demands to get the value of Catholic religious education and character in public schools. This research recommends the importance of improving the quality of Catholic religious education for public students in the Church; such as coaching for Catholic Religion teachers who teach in the church and the assessment process so that it is by the assessment standards in the applicable curriculum. For this reason, it is important to collaborate with the Directorate General of Catholic Guidance at the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia to prepare a budget for the development of Catholic religious teachers/catechists who teach Catholic students attending public schools. And the importance of good planning by the Directorate General of Catholic Guidance at the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta for the formation of Catholic Religion teachers in public schools. In addition, optimal efforts and cooperation are needed for the Catholic Community Service Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta with the Jakarta Archdiocese Catechetical Commission, the role of family/Parents, so that the implementation of Catholic teaching for public students at 47 churches/parishes in DKI Jakarta can be implemented. The quality is improved because it can overcome the problem of the shortage of teachers who teach Catholicism in public schools.

Abstract

The school environment as a formal educational institution, is organized, systematic, multilevel and follows clear and strict requirements. The school environment is a component or an integral part of the school. The Catholic school environment should have a characteristic that is based on Christ in his ministry, always prioritizing love and evangelical freedom. A good Catholic school environment is expected to encourage an effective and efficient learning process. The purpose of this study (1) to understand a good and healthy school environment, (2) good and healthy teaching and learning process. (3) analyze the extent to which the school environment has an influence on the implementation of the teaching and learning process at at Santa Maria Catholic Elementary School. Respondents in this study amounted to 6 teachers at at Santa Maria Catholic Elementary School, namely two principals and four teachers. The analytical method used is inductive. From the results of this study, respondents understand that the school environment is a healthy and comfortable learning environment, a place for education and training, as well as a second home, where the teaching and learning process takes place, and a place for interaction between school residents.

Abstract

Idealism is a philosophical paradigm which views that the reality that exists in natural life is not an essential truth, but only a description of the ideas that exist in the world of ideas. Idealism is oriented to ideas, to the soul, to spirituality, to ideals, to norms that contain absolute truth. The ideal nature contains absolute, genuine, pure, and holy. This paper wants to explore how to apply the flow of idealism in the world of religious education. Why is this important? The Law on the National Education System (Undang-Undang Sisdiknas) orders that every student receive religious education according to their beliefs. Religious education is certainly an education about ideals, because it talks about God as the Supreme Ideal and encourages humans to have an ideal spiritual life. This paper is important to contribute some basic things in the perspective of idealism. Idealism assumes that knowledge is something that arises and is born from events in the human soul. The purpose of religious education in this perspective is thus to create human beings with noble personalities and have a higher and ideal standard of spiritual life and have a sense of responsibility to society.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Catholic religious education teachers in countering religious radicalism at Private Junior High School Santo Xaverius 2 Kabanjahe. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this study were sourced from the results of interviews and observations. The subjects in this study were 2 teachers of Catholicism and 60 students from grades VII, VIII and IX. The interview data that was explored was how the strategies used by the teacher were to shape the character of good students in order to avoid radical understanding. Observation data comes from activities carried out by teachers of Catholic education subjects during the learning process in class. The data were then analyzed using the data reduction stage, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the study found that the role of Catholic religious teachers to shape students' character as a strategy against religious radicalism were: a) teaching religious education in schools, b) cooperating with parents or guardians of students in educating religious materials in the family, and c) cooperating with deacon of the Church.

Abstract

The church has the responsibility to pass on the Christian faith and values to the youth of the church. Meanwhile, the development of technology and information has had a tremendous impact on the lives of young people, which is not always positive for the development of faith. There is a negative impact that the Catholic Church has to face on its youth. The Church faces a difficult challenge in passing on the faith to its youth, because the Church's proclamation is no longer attractive to young people, the digital generation. This study was conducted by studying literature from various sources in this digital era. Based on the literature study and observations, the author concludes that in order to inherit catholic faith to young people, the Church must understand the characteristics of the younger generation. Then, the pastoral minister needs to accompany the youth to walk together, using social media to proclam their faith and involving them in the church tasks and missions

Abstract

This paper aims to explain how to design Catholic religious education learning activities using the Hybrid Learning method. The importance of learning design is first to improve the quality of education and make it easier for students to learn. When you want to improve the quality of Catholic religious education, what needs to be considered is the quality of learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic situation, to overcome the learning loss dilemma that occurs at the education level, hybrid learning is one method that can be taken to carry out learning activities. Hybrid/mixed learning refers to a combination of online learning and conventional (face-to-face) learning. Innovations that can be made in Hybrid Learning combine several forms, for example, Flipped classroom, flex model, rotation model, enriched model, anchor model. This innovation needs to be done to learn. Catholic religious education is more fun to motivate and facilitate students in learning. Determine the form of hybrid learning can be done by following the steps of learning development with the ADDIE model. The development procedure goes through the steps of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The development of hybrid learning using the ADDIE model is expected to be able to produce a hybrid learning design that is per the learning objectives and characteristics of the students.

Abstract

The focus of the study discussed is the work of God's salvation in a historical framework. In the context of the Old Testament, all events, both wars and trials faced by the Israelites, were God's plans that had been prepared. The historical God is present in the form of justice which ultimately provides salvation for mankind. The writing of this scientific paper uses the method of critical analysis with reflection and relevance through the correspondence truth test. The purpose of writing this article is to take a deeper look at how great and extraordinary the works of God's salvation were in the history of the people of Israel. Furthermore, it is also explained how God makes various efforts so that His chosen people are always directed to Him, things that make the Israelites fall into sin and come to a reflection on God's loving works of salvation in forgiving people's sins. This article outlines how deep God's love for the Israelites is in the life history of God's chosen nation. The benefit of writing this article is to reflect more deeply that God's love is so real in human life.

Abstract

Blended learning is a learning model that combines face-to-face learning with web-based learning, by utilizing media and tools that can be used in an e-learning learning environment. The hope with the blended learning model is that educators must be ready and brave to face technological advances and students to be active and independent. The blended learning model is also applied to Catholic schools, including Yohanes Gabriel Pare Catholic Junior High School. The purpose of this study (1) is to describe what is meant by a blended learning model. (2) Explaining the implications of the blended learning model for the implementation of learning in Yohanes Gabriel Pare Catholic Junior High School. This study uses a qualitative method. The respondents of this research were the teachers of Yohanes Gabriel Pare Catholic Junior High School. The number of respondents in this study was 10 people. Abstract

The diversity of religions, beliefs, ethnicities, languages, and cultures shows that Indonesia is so rich and beautiful. However, waves of radicalism or religious fundamentalism that leads to conflict and violence have continued to spread over the years in the world, including Indonesia. Radicalism that breeds intolerance is a threat to the integrity of the nation. Since 2019 the government through the minister of religion has paid attention to building a religious moderation program in Indonesia. Religious moderation is a government program that is always actual for the Indonesian people. The Indonesian Catholic Church takes part in spreading the values ​​of religious moderation especially through education.
