Abstract

Breast cancer is a type of cancer in the breast tissue that is common in women. An effort to detect the possibility of breast cancer early is to do a Breast Self-Examination (BSE), no need to spend money, just enough to take a moment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of demonstration and audiovisual counseling on breast self-examination (BSE) skills in women of childbearing age. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with a two group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all women of childbearing age and the number of samples in this study was 66 people (33 people each with demonstration and audiovisual methods) who were taken by total sampling technique. Collecting data using observation sheets or checklists. This research test uses the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test. The results showed that the Z value = -5.477 and p-value = 0.000 (p-value <0.05), indicating that there was an effect of counseling demonstration methods on BSE skills and the Z value = -5,000 and p-value = 0.000, indicating that there was an effect of audiovisual counseling on BSE skills. It is hoped that women of childbearing age can improve their knowledge and skills in performing breast self-examination by seeking more information that is easy to understand, such as through videos and pictures to practice BSE at home and also to reduce the incidence of breast cancer in women who are expected to have their breasts checked at least once a month.

Abstract

Young elderly dominate the prevalence of the elderly in Indonesia with the age of 60-69 at 63.39%, then the middle elderly with the age of 70-79 years by 27.92% and the elderly aged 80 years and over by 8.69%. Functional changes in the elderly are decreased cognitive function, resulting in changes in the structure of brain function. This will be seen in the elderly who have impaired orientation, attention, concentration, thinking, remembering, and language. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and cognitive function of the elderly. This research uses correlational analytic method and cross sectional approach. The instrument used was a questionnaire and the cognitive function of the elderly was measured by the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 92 elderly respondents. Statistical analysis used is frequency distribution and chi-square. This research shows that elderly with light physical activity mostly have cognitive impairment, that is 39 people (42.4%). The results of the analysis showed that the p-value was 0.00 < 0.05 so that there was a relationship between physical activity and cognitive function of the elderly. Physical activity reduces the incidence of various vascular disease factors such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. Cardiovascular function can be improved with intense physical activity. As blood flow increases, oxygen transport to the brain increases. Cognitive function of the elderly can be maintained with regular physical activity so that it remains at a good level.

Abstract

Patient safety concerns can help minimize the risk of KTD, reduce the occurrence of medical disputes, reduce conflicts between health workers and patients, reduce the lawsuits process, and dismiss allegations of malpractice which is increasing lately. The achievement of a good patient culture is done by building an understanding of the norms, beliefs, attitudes, and values that are important to nursing organizations. The systematic review of this study is aimed at identifying patient safety measures implemented by different countries to look at the effectiveness of patient safety culture in primary health care in global coverage. This research uses systematic review methods. Searching for journals was conducted in three well-known journals such as Proquest, ScienceDirect, and Scopus in the 2015-2021 publishing year. The term used is patient safety in the primary health care area and the community, as well as efforts made. Research on the database identified 7,967 articles to be filtered. After sorting and verifying the paper, data was taken from 12 papers explaining the culture of patient safety in primary health care. The articles taken have global coverage with research originating in several countries namely; Manchester, Sweden, Yemen, Lebanon, Germany, and Brazil. Characteristics of the study are grouped into the following themes: Patient safety in primary health care, and patient safety events in primary health care, Measurement of patient safety in primary health care, and Methods/ efforts to improve patient safety in primary health care. Tools that are used to measure patient safety, in general, are SAQ (Safety Attitudes Questionnaire), MOSPC (Medical Office Survey on Patient Safety Culture), and SOPS(Survey on Patient Safety Culture). This systematic review shows that many measurements can be taken to identify patient safety culture applications. Several efforts can be made to improve patient safety application, one of the important efforts in improving patient safety is improving knowledge. Education is an important step for the best patient safety intervention efforts. One of the programs that can be useful for the development of patient safety is the CUSP (Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program) program.
