Abstract

Globalization is the occurrence change in various aspects of human life. Globalization is characterized by advances in information technology and all of the information can be accessed easily and quickly. During the development, globalization causes many problems in the field of culture. Such as the loss of the original culture of a country, the decline in the sense of nationalism and patriotism, lifestyle changes, and so on. To anticipate these conditions, in a public organization such as a state need a leader who understands the running cross-cultural leadership. The researches team from GLOBE has done several researches about the relationship between culture and leadership. The main objective of this research is to improve our understanding of cross-cultural interaction and cultural impact on leadership effectiveness. As part of their study of culture and leadership, GLOBE researchers develop their own classification of cultural dimensions. Transformational leadership is a leadership approach to doing business to increase awareness, excite and inspire subordinates or members of the organization to expend extra effort in achieving organizational goals. A leader is known as a transformational leader if he can change he situation, has a lofty goals, and has a reference value of freedom, justice and equality. Transformational leadership is the kind of leadership needed in globalization era.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of family factors, personal characteristics, and economics of the family SMKN dropout rate in the city of Padang. Type of research is quantitative research. The population is all SMKN Padang numbering as many as 10 SMKN, sampling techniques of the elements in this study population using total sampling, Analysis using multiple regression method. The results showed that: 1) There is a significant positive effect between family factors on dropout rates in SMKN Padang, 2) There is no significant positive effect between the personal characteristics of the dropout rate in SMKN Padang, 3) There is a significant positive influence on the economic family SMKN dropout rate in the city of Padang. This means that the greater amount of economically disadvantaged children will cause the higher the dropout rate at SMKN Padang.

Abstract

In order to increase the graduate competency, SMA N 3 Bungo has been consistent to make the improvement during the learning process. Various attempts were made as sustainable development for teachers, administrators, and all elements of the school. As a professional educator, teachers are managed to get a competence development. To increase the ability of teachers in education, teachers are developed to doing research in learning process. The main purpose of this article is a reference to enhance the capabilities of teachers in conducting action research, so the methods of this study can be applied in SMA N 3 Bungo. This article discusses the various alternative teaching methods and strategies for classroom action research that can be applied by teachers.

Abstract

The aim of this classroom action research is to increasen students learning activities and students learning achievement on physics. This research was done in two rounds. The research subject was the students from XI SKM 2 class, SMAN 2 Payakumbuh. The data in this study was collected by using questionare about students learning process activities and test. Data were analyzed by using quantitative qualitative technique. The result showed that: 1) Students ability in oral activities, motor activities, mental activities and emotional activities is still in the average category 2) The increase of student’s visual, listening, writing, and drawing activities happened in a low category 3) The using of cooperative learning model in STAD type can increase students achievements on basic competence.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is increasing PKn studying report with Mind Map cooperative learning model for IX.2 grade SMP Negeri 5 Dumai. The changing aim variable in this research is PKn studying report, meanwhile the action variable is Mind Map cooperative learning. The form of the research is action research class using cycle model that contain 2 cycles. Each cycles contain 4 steps, there are planning, action, observation and reflection. 40 students of IX.2 grade SMP Negeri 5 Dumai as a subject there are 12 boys and 28 girls. Collecting data methods are test, observation, and documentation. Analysis data method is descriptive analysis. Based on researching result, we can say that there is an increasing result after doing class action using Mind Map cooperative learning model for PKn subject. It can be shown in students’ frequency before and after action class to the students is increase. Cycle I shows the increasing of PKn subject with classical percentage that is 77,5% or 31 students. On cycle II shows the increasing PKn subject that reach average score (KKM) is about 95% or 38 students.

Abstract

The use of imprecise media in teaching and learning process had caused some problems in achieving students learning mastery. The process of teaching and learning were focused on the teachers that the students could not develop their own ideas. Related to the problems which were found in the field, the researcher tried to find the solution by applying pictures as a media in teaching and learning process. This research was aimed to see how much pictures can improve students speaking ability in Dharma Bunda Kindergarten Pekanbaru. It was hypothesized that the use of pictures in teaching and learning process can improve students speaking ability. This was a classroom action research which was conducted in Dharma Bunda Kindergarten Pekanbaru at second semester in 2008/2009 of academic year. The data was collected by administering a test and also used observation sheet for students and teachers activities. Then the data was analyzed by using quantitative approach. The result of data analysis showed that the use of pictures can improve students speaking ability in Dharma Kindergarten Bunda Pekanbaru especially for those who were registered in 2008/2009 of academic year. The implication of this research was the use of pictures can improve students activity as well as their speaking ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this class action research is to improve student motivation in speaking lesson at monologue recount text. This research is accomplished by using media through learning model picture and pictures. This research was done in three cycles within 6 effective weeks of 3 months period. Each cycle consists of 4 skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing. The implementation of this research is taken twice in a week. The research subject was the students from VIII-E class, SMPN 2 Payakumbuh. The data in this study was collected by using questionare about students learning process activities, observation sheet, and test. Data were analyzed by using quantitative qualitative technique. The conclusions of this study showed an increasing of student motivation in the classroom during the speaking lesson in monologue recount text.

Abstract

Indonesian government especially ministry of education conduct a policy called national test for the students as one way to improve the educational quality. But this policy get many arguments from stakeholders such as teachers, student, parents dan society. The aim of this research is to describe the perception and expectation of teachers in West Sumatera related to national test administration. As the results the tachers’ perception shows that national test administration in West Sumatera was relevant to the curriculum and be able to control the educational quality. But they also hope that in future the fund will be reported and managed transparantly. Based on this research, we recommend the goverment to improve teachers’ quality, and control the national test administration to avoid fraudulent.

Abstract

The changing and reforming education system relies on the acquisition of competence by teachers. Light Vehicle Engineering Expertise Programme (TKR) is a study program developed and demanded as the development of science and technology and the needs of society. This study aimed to answer the needs of professional competence to be mastered based the vocational curriculum 2013. This study used a qualitative method. This study used Delphi technique. Data was analyzed by using triangulation sources and consensus search. Initial formulation of the professional competence of TKR teachers consists of 5 areas: field of engineering; machine; powertrain; chassis and suspension; and electrical. The results of the first identification composed of 31 core competencies, 52 sub-competencies and 174 essential indicators. The second was to search for consensus and clarification to the respondent against each competency that has been arranged on prior identification. The whole competence has reached a consensus with the approval percentage is more than 50%. After repairing, formulation of the professional competence of vocational teachers overall had 32 core competencies consisting of 56 sub-competencies and 193 essential indicators. The third identification was done to provide taxonomic level of education that must be mastered at any standards of competence and professional competence of teachers. The results of the third identification gave the mandate that vocational teachers need to master the cognitive domain of 9.375% for C2; 25% for C3; 50% for C4; and 15.625% for C5, and the knowledge domain of 9.375% for K1; 53.125% for K2; and 37.5% for K3.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low student learning outcome at Curriculum and Technology of Education in Education of Sciences Faculty, State University of Padang. The purpose of this research was to reveal the relationship of learning motivation with learning outcome of student TM 2013 semester 2 in KTP FIP UNP majors. This research used quantitative methods to the type of correlational research. The sample in this research were 77 students TM 2013 semester 2 in KTP FIP UNP majors, used Slovin formula with proportional random sampling technique. The research instrument was structured in the form of a questionnaire with Likert scale models, after being tested looking for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between learning motivation and learning outcome of students TM 2013 semester 2 majoring in Curriculum and Educational of Technology at 0.492. Based on the findings of this study concluded that the independent variables, namely learning motivation played a very important in improving learning outcome, in addition to other variables.
