'A Jamiy: Arabic Language and Literature Journal (p-issn: 2252-9926 and e-issn: 2657-2206) is a scientific journal that has published scientific papers since 2012. This journal is a Linguistics and Literature journal that is published twice a year in June and September by the Arabic Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Muhammadiyah University, Gorontalo. This journal discusses language problems that are examined in the branches of applied linguistics, such as sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, corpus linguistics, and others. In the field of literature, it includes literary history, literary theory, literary criticism, and others, which may include written texts, films, and other media. We only accept scholarly papers written in Bahasa Indonesia, Arab and English.

Abstract

Students who will learn Arabic have different abilities. Likewise, in terms of pronouncing the sounds of Arabic sentences, if there is an error, it will impact the meaning contained in the sentence.  The purpose of this study is to find out how the forms of phonological errors that occur in Class VIII students of MTs Negeri 1 Gorontalo City in the 2023-2024 school year, this research is a type of research using the Anakes method (Error Analysis) using a Descriptive Qualitative approach, the data collection technique is by Oral Test, and Sound Recording, while the data analysis technique uses the Ellis technique based on language error analysis using the Anakes procedure. The results of the forms of phonological errors in reading Arabic texts that researchers get in the field are students who find it challenging to pronounce Makhoriul letters by the nature of the letters so that letter swapping occurs, such as errors in swapping letters ع read أ, ذ readز, ظ is read,ز ث is read,س ض is read,د ح is read,ه and learners who have difficulty distinguishing the pronunciation of letters that are almost the same as the error أَبْدَأُ is read أَبْدَعُ, إِذَنْ is read إِزَنْ ثُمَّ is read سُمَّ, رِحْلَةٌ is read رِهْلَةٌ.

Abstract

This research aims to know the five names in Surat Yusuf, classify them, and explain their parsing. This research is a desk research that relies on books, publications and scientific journals related to the subject. The type of this research is analytical descriptive research based on the analysis and characterization of the content. There are three ways to analyze data: it begins with identifying the data, then classifying it, and finally presenting the data. After collecting and analyzing the data, the following results emerged: The five names are the names limited to (Akhu - Abu - Fu - Hamu - Dhu). Its ruling is of two types. The first is the five nouns that meet the conditions, so they are nominative with the waw on behalf of the ḍamma, the accusative is with the alif on the behalf of the fatḥa, and it is genitive with the yā’ on the behalf of the kasra, and the second is the five nouns that do not meet the conditions, so they are pronounced with the vowel. The five names that are found in Surat Yusuf are (Abu - Akhu - Dhu), but (Fu - Hamu) are not found in this Surah. The number of verses in Surat Yusuf, which includes the five names, is thirty-two (32) verses, and the number of its words is forty-seven (47) words, and they are as follows: The word (father) is mentioned twenty-seven (27) times, and the word (brother) is mentioned eighteen (18) times. Times, and the word (dhaw) twice. In terms of syntax, there are three sections: The first section is in the nominative case, and its nominative sign is the waw and the damma. The waw is found in four (4) words, and the damma is found in five (5) words. The second part is in the accusative case with three signs The alif, the fatha, and the yā’, so the alif is in fourteen (14) words, the fatha is in one (1) word, and the ya’ is in two (2) words. The third section is in the genitive case with two signs: The yā’ and the kasra, the yā’ is in twenty-one (21) words, and the kasra is in six (6) words.

Abstract

In the novel "Laskar Pelangi (Asakir Qous Quzh)" by Andrea Hirata, it was said that on the island of Belitung Ekal and his nine companions were students in the Muhammadiyah elementary school. Without knowing from this novel, Islamic values were obtained for the readers using semiotics at Ferdinand de Saussure from his structural theory that contains the sign, the signifier, and the signified. This research aims to stand on the forms of semiotics and Islamic values in the novel "Laskar Pelangi (Asakir Qous Quzh)" by Andrea Hirata in the theory of semiotics of Ferdinand de Saussure. This research is a type of qualitative desk research, and the researcher used the method of collecting data in this research using the method of documents. The researcher used the descriptive approach and the analytical graphic approach to analyze the data obtained from the quotations of the novel in this research. The research concludes that the forms of semiotics in the novel Soldiers of the Rainbow are 43 forms of the signifier and the signified in the 43 quotations from the conversations therein. and 24 Islamic values in 43 quotes from 80 conversations. This research has many implications. This will expand our understanding of the linguistic and non-linguistic aspects that authors use to create meaning in literary works, providing insight into how authors use Islamic values as a source of inspiration in constructing narratives and communicating deeper values to readers, and revealing how Islamic values influence the signifiers used by the author. And how to convey Islamic values through the signs in the novel. This research will make an important contribution to understanding the relationship between semiotic analysis and Islamic values and meaning in literary works.

Abstract

Cultural factors that cause differences in language characteristics between men and women are an interesting thing to study. The country that is still very thick with its patriarchal culture is the State of Egypt, which causes differences in language characteristics between men and women. The novel Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi is based on a true story of a woman who fought against patriarchal culture in Egypt and was about to be executed for killing someone. The purpose of this writing is to find out the characteristics of women's language in Nawal El Saadawi's women's novel at zero point based on Robinn Lakoff's theory of women's language. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. With this method, the researcher analyzes the choice of each word used by the main female character in the novel Woman at Point Zero, so that the language characteristics of the main female character in the film can be revealed. While the method used to collect data in this study is the technique of reading and noting on primary data sources. . In this study, 4 characteristics of women's language were found in the novel Woman at Point Zero by Nawaal El Saadawi based on Robin Lakoff's theory, namely: empty adjectives, hedge, intensifier, avoidance of strong swear words. The use of these linguistic characteristics cannot be separated from the existing patriarchal culture in Egypt. and experienced by the main character in the novel, causing women to be very careful in their speech and often use intensifiers to emphasize their utterances so that their interlocutors understand the meaning of their speech. This novel clearly explains the condition of women who are still second in the country.
