Abstract

The problem that occurs in efforts to increase zea mays production is low land productivity, especially for red-yellow podzolic soil types. Setting plant spacing is an important factor to increase crop production easily and not increase production costs. Increasing the plant population per unit area can increase yields, but if the plant population continues to be increased, the yield will actually decrease. The aim of this research was to determine the response of growth and production of Zea mays to plant spacing treatments and to determine the correct planting distance with a high growth and production response. This research used a Randomized Block Design with 4 treatments, namely: P1 = planting distance 100 x 20 cm; P2 = planting distance 80 x 20 cm; P3 = planting distance 60 x 20 cm; and P4 = planting distance 40 x 20 cm; and repeated 3 times. Observation variables included plant height, ear weight, ear diameter, ear length, and sweetness level. The data analysis used was analysis of variance to determine whether the treatments were significantly different or not and continued with the LSD test with a significance level of 5%. The research results showed that differences in the planting distance of Zea mays on red-yellow podzolic soil had an effect on plant height, cob weight without corn husks, cob weight with corn husks, and cob length. Treatments P1 and P2 were the best treatments for the variables plant height, cob weight without corn husks, and cob weight with corn husks. Meanwhile, for the cob length variable, the best treatment is the P1 treatment.

Abstract

Soybeans are one of Indonesia’s strategis agricultural commodities. Soybean prices fluctuation due to high demand and low stock of soybeans. This study was conducted to determine the behavior of local soybean prices in Indonesia, imported soybeans from the USA, and world soybeans. This study uses monthly soybean price time series data from January 2017 to March 2022 for local and world soybean price data and for imported soybean price data (USA) from January 2018 to March 2022. The data is obtained from the Kementrian Perdagangan, UN Comtrade, and the World Bank. The research method used is the ARCH/GARCH analysis method. The result of this study is the estimation of the GARCH model on the volatility of local soybean prices in Indonesia, imported soybeans (USA), and world soybeans obtained the GARCH (1,1) model. Based on the GARCH (1,1) model, the price of local soybeans in Indonesia is more volatile than the price of imported soybeans (USA) and the price of world soybeans is more volatile than the price of imported soybeans (USA). The prices of local soybeans in Indonesia, imported soybeans, and world soybeans are more volatile after the Covid-19 pandemic than before the Covid-19 pandemic. Future forecasts of local soybean prices in Indonesia, imported soybeans, and world soybeans are predicted to increase with the highest price in December 2024 of IDR 15,391.21 for local soybeans, IDR 11,303.92 for imported soybeans, and IDR 12,069.11 for world soybeans. This price forecast can be used as a reference by the government in planning soybean import policies.

Abstract

Over the last three years, Paddy rice production in Tana Tidung Regency has been approximately 500-700 tons. This production is considered low, even when compared to rice production in other regencies located in North Kalimantan Province. One of the factors supporting high production is the crop management system used by farmers. This research aims to analyse the level of adoption of Integrated Crop Management (ICM) in the paddy rice commodity in the Sesayap District. ICM is an innovative approach in agriculture aimed at reducing the use of chemical pesticides and promoting sustainable pest and disease control. This study was conducted to understand the extent to which farmers in Sesayap District have adopted ICM technology in paddy rice cultivation and the factors influencing this adoption. The research method was a structured questionnaire survey from a sample of paddy rice farmers in the Sesayap District. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling method, with the criteria that they are part of farmer groups and actively cultivate paddy rice. The total number of respondents obtained was 57 individuals. The primary data collected were then described to illustrate the level of ICM adoption and the influencing factors. The results of this research indicate that the level of ICM adoption in the paddy rice commodity in Sesayap District is at 105, categorising it as moderate. Significant factors influencing the adoption level include farmers' level of education, knowledge about ICM, accessibility to information sources and training on ICM, the availability of institutional support, and farmers' perception of the benefits and effectiveness of ICM in increasing productivity and reducing production costs.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the internal factors of red rice farmers in Compong Village, the external factors of red rice farmers in Compong Village, and the marketing strategies of red rice farmers in Compong Village. This research uses qualitative descriptive. The sampling technique is based on specific considerations, namely that the determination of informants is not based on guidelines or population representation, but on the depth of information required. The results of the research show 1) SWOT analysis on the marketing of red rice in Compong village, Pitu Riase subdistrict, Sidenreng Rappang district, is that the strength of the high nutritional content of red rice and a suitable location for farming can be an added value for the product. Weaknesses The low level of public awareness about health can influence consumer interest. Opportunity: There is Huge market potential around Sidenreng Rappang Regency and big cities in South Sulawesi. Threats: Tight competition with similar red rice products from other regions. 2) The marketing strategy in Compong village is an ST (Strengths-Threats) strategy that can be taken by utilizing internal strengths to overcome external threats. One emerging external threat is competition from red rice products in the surrounding area. To overcome this threat, Compong Village can maintain its product excellence by improving the quality of red rice products and expanding its marketing network by collaborating with organic food producers.

Abstract

UMKM Aqsha is a Small and Medium Enterprise that produces oyster mushrooms in Tarakan City. In the implementation process, the inventory for oyster mushrooms has yet to use the calculation method of EOQ analysis. In this case, there might be a media shortage of raw planting materials. The objectives of the research were to (1) describe the system of controlling the inventory for oyster mushrooms planting media raw materials based on actual conditions at UMKM Aqsha, (2) analyze the system of controlling the inventory for oyster mushrooms planting media raw materials using economic order quantity analysis, buying frequency, safety stock, reorder point and maximum inventory. The technique of taking informants was conducted by selecting the key informants, namely business owners and workers who know the information needed in the research. The analysis method used economic order quantity analysis, buying frequency, safety stock, reorder point and maximum inventory. The results of the research showed that the inventory control of UMKM Aqsha required all three raw materials totaling 3,345 kg in a year, with a one-time order quantity for the three raw materials totaling 1,115 kg. The inventory control implemented by UMKM Aqsha was not optimal yet and also has not yet implemented a reorder point. So that it was not possible to prevent a shortage of the three raw materials during the production process. EOQ analysis was given an optimum order for all three materials with 1,655.9 kg of raw materials, no safety stock for all three materials, a reorder point for all three materials with 526,17 kg of raw materials, and for the maximum inventory for all three materials with 1655.9 kg of raw materials.
