Abstract

The focus of this research is to discover whether leadership, lecturer’competence, learning behavior dan learning  motivation influence students’ soft skill quality at the Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning of Kupang Archdiocese. This research is also designed for analyzing which of those four variables that becomes the most dominant factor on student’soft skill quality. Research’s population refers to the student at Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese, with total of 136 students. Using simple random sampling as the method, this research focuses on 103 respondents. The results of the descriptive statistics analysis showed that the leadership was catagorized as good (72,74 %), lecturers’ competence as good (67,45 %), learning behavior as good (72,37 %), learning motivation was good (73,31 %), and students’ soft skill quality was also catagorized as good (73,50 %).  The results of t-test showed that partially leadership (3.307, sig. 0.001 < 0,05), lecturers’ competence (3.395, sig. 0.001 < 0,05), learning behavior (3.255, sig. 0.002 < 0,05), and learning motivation (2.380, sig. 0.006 < 0,05) had a positive and significant effect on the student’ soft skill quality of Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese. The results of F-test indicated that simultaneously the four independent variables: leadership, lecturers’ competence, learning behavior and learning motivation (16,778, sig. 0,000 < 0,05) had a positive and significant effect on the student’ soft skill. It is suggested to the management of Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese has to make a evaluation on the leadership and lecturer performance, evaluation on the learning behavior, learning motivation and students’ soft skill quality, to make a research of the others factor that influence on students’ soft skill quality, and human resource development. The management of Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese and Swasti Sari Institution can do their job and responsibility to improve the leadership quality, lectrurer’ competence, learning behavior, learning motivation and students’ soft skill quality.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the memory of Grade IV students through the application of structured practice and training methods to the learning of Education for Catholic Religious in classes IV at Nunbai State Elementary School in 2019/2020 Academic Year. This research is a Classroom Action Research, the researcher collects data through observation, documentation and tests. The activity was carried out to the experimental class after being given treatments using structured practice methods and exercises. after the researchers gave treatment to the experimental class. To measure the successful application of structured practice methods and exercises the researcher made a comparison with the control class. Researchers found several important points after conducting research. Some of these points are: (1) The level of student participation is very active in following the lessons and has progress in understanding according to the material provided, when compared to conventional methods used in the control class (2) Students are actively involved in following the lesson and actively answer the questions given, (3) Individual performance is very effective. It is seen that all students are actively involved and have the responsibility in completing and answering the questions given, (4) Students are able to recall the material given by the teacher, (5) when applying methods of practice and practice in learning for student will like it more learn and understand the material provided by the teacher.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the understanding of Catholic religion teachers about teaching supervision, procedures, techniques used, approaches, and results achieved in teaching supervision of the Education for Catholic Religious in SMP (Catholic) and SMP (State), Kefamenanu District, TTU Regency, NTT Province. Data was collected through interviews, observations, documentation studies, and analyzed conceptually inductively. The results of the study are (1) most religious teachers and supervisors understand supervision as an assessment activity; (2) parties involved in supervision activities namely the school principal, supervision team, senior teachers, teachers who are certified assessors, and supervisors; (3) the procedure made in teaching supervision consists of the procedure that is passed by the supervisor from the school and the procedure that is passed by the supervisor of a supervisor; (4) the techniques used in general use individual techniques; (5) the approach used in supervision is more on the valuation approach; (6) the results obtained from the implementation of teaching supervision that there are improvements and changes in teaching, there are variations in teaching methods, KKM is complete, about the child's attitude depends on the character.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how teachers as an educational model in developing the spiritual life of students at the secondary school level. This research is motivated by the lack of guidance from parents and teachers, students also rarely pray both privately and pray together, as a result students are less interested in participating in spiritual activities. The method used in this study is qualitative research, namely by obtaining information through direct interviews, observations and documentation. To respond to these problems, the authors conducted interviews with teachers and students in Junior High Schools. Besides it, observation and documentation are needed to strengthen valid data or information. Research findings in Junior High Schools are that teachers have carried out their duties in guiding and growing students 'faith but students are less aware that what teachers do is developing students' spiritual lives through prayer, worship and the deepening of the Scriptures.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to discover whether leadership style, work motivation, work discipline influence employee performance at the Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning of Kupang Archdiocese. This research is also designed for analyzing which of those three variables that becomes the most dominant factor on employee performance. The results of the descriptive statistics analysis showed that the leadership style was catagorized as good (60,76 %), work motivation as good (59,52 %), work discpline as good (60,77 %), and employee performance was also catagorized as good (60,81 %). The results of t-test showed that partially leadership style (4.117, sig. 0.000 < 0,05), work motivation (4.373, sig. 0.000 < 0,05), work discpline (2.769, sig. 0.006 < 0,05) had a positive and significant effect on the employee performance of Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese. The results of F-test indicated that simultaneously the three independent variables: leadership style, work motivation, work discpline (13,777, sig. 0,000 < 0,05) had a positive and significant effect on the employee performance. It is suggested to the management of Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese has to make a evaluation on the leadership style and work motivation, evaluation on the work discipline and employee performance, to make a research of the others factor that influence on employee performance. The management of Pastoral Institution of Higher Learning, Kupang Archdiocese is responsibility to improve the leadership style, work motivation, work discipline and employee performance.

Abstract

This research is focus to study the effect of classroom action research on student learning achievement at the SDK St. Yoseph 3 Naikoten Kupang in 2019/2020. This research was conducted at the SDK St. Yoseph 3 Naikoten Kupang and the problem studied is the decline in classroom action research activities of the teachers that cause in decrease of the student learning achievement. This type of research is quantitative research and the research sample includes teachers at the SDK St. Yoseph 3 Naikoten Kupang. The data collection technique used a questionnaire, and the research data was processed by computerized and analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis models. The results of descriptive statistical analysis prove that the achievement of the classroom action research variable is 69.13% and the student learning achievement variable is 68.28%. While the results of inferential statistical analysis showed a positive and significant influence of the classroom action research variable on student learning achievement (t value of 1.060, sig value of 0.000 <0.005) and R2 is 61.5%. The result of this research showed that classroom action research has an effect on the student learning achievement at SDK St. Yoseph 3 Naikoten Kupang in 2019/2020.

Abstract

This research is focused to know how the implementation of affective relationships between parents and children and to find out how parents try to prevent the children from gadget syndrome. The research location is in the Santo Tarcicius, Parish of Santo Joseph Tebing Tinggi. The informan in this research are mother and father. Father and mother are main educators in the family. Father and mother in the sacred covenant of marriage are obliged to educate and raise and take care their children. One of them is by increasing affective relationships with children, especially in modern times. Nowadays many children have used gadget to the point of not knowing the time, so they become addicted to gadget. This research uses a qualitative approach that prioritize the result of observation, interview and documentation. The result of research shows that parent have an affective relationship with children. This is marked by the close relationships between parent and children, communication with children, parents also help their children in responsibility and help children to find their child's identity, especially mentoring and monitoring children when using gadget.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the linearity of the Learning Plan component of the Catholic Religious Education. This research is the most relevant study in relation to the pedagogical and professional competence of teachers in organizing learning at the Xaverius College School of Ambon. The focus of this qualitative research is to determine the linearity of the learning component of Catholic Religious Education in Xaverius College School of Ambon. The data collection technique used in this research is to use documentation study which is then analyzed in terms of completeness and systematic, clarity of the content of the learning components and the linearity of the learning components.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to discover whether work motivation and lecturer’ competence influence lecturer’ performance at STIPAS Keuskupan Agung Kupang. The research method that used in this research is a quantitative method with an explanatory research approach to test the hypothesis. The data collection technique used a questionnaire which distributed to the research sample, and the data analysis technique uses descriptive data analysis and inferential data analysis. The results of the descriptive statistics analysis showed that the work motivation was catagorized as good, lecturers’ competence as good, and lecturers’ performance as good. The results of t-test showed that partially work motivation and lecturer’ competence had a positive and significant effect on the lecturer’ performance of STIPAS Keuskupan Agung Kupang. The results of F-test indicated that simultaneously the two independent variables: work motivation and, lecturers’ competence had a positive and significant effect on the lecturer’ competence. Therefore, these two variables are very necessary or very useful to improve the lecturer’ performance at STIPAS Keuskupan Agung Kupang, especially in the fields of education, research and community service.

Abstract

The aim of this studi is to measure the relation between the use of variety teaching method and students motivation of study in Catholic Religion Subject. This measurement is done using the qualitative research approach. the level of data validation and its fault is 0,05. The subject of this research is teachers and students at Secondary Schools within Kota Kefamenanu Subdistrict. The statistic data shows that coefficient corelation value is 0,843 or 84,3%. It means that there is a strong and tied relationship between the variable of the use of variety teaching method and students motivation in the proses of learning Catholic Religion Subject. From the percentage value on the relation, the researcher could say that the use of variety teaching method is needed and important for teachers to develop students motivation of studying this certain subject. Students will get more motivated within the process of learning this subject if the teacher applies various teaching methods. Coefficient determination value is 0,710 or 71%. This shows that the use of variety teaching method affects the students motivation of learning 71%, while the rest is 29% affected by any other factors. The other factors here are related to teacher’s personality, giving punishment, and school laws that allow the students to follow learning process at schools. So, there is a significant relationship between the use of variety learning method and students motivation of learning Catholic Religion Subject for Junior High Schools within the Subdistrict of Kota Kefamenanu School Year of 2016/2017. The more the teachers performance in the process of learning the Catholic Religion Subject, the more the students will be motivated to follow the process of learning the subject in the classroom.
