Abstract

One of the critical processes when fabricating offshore is the process of transferring the offshore module (Top Side) from the top of the jetty to the transportation barge or often called the process Load Out. One of the analyzes needed to ensurethe processing load out runs smoothly and safely is the analysis of the strength of the barge structure when the load out process occurs, which is checking the strength of the barge structure whether it is able to withstand the load topside when there is load transfer from the top of the jetty to transportation barge or from the edge of the barge to the final location. To get accurate results, the help of computer programs is used or often called the finite element method (Finite Element Analysis). The software used in this analysis is Staad Pro V8i with a three-module simulation experiment. From theanalysis it was concluded that the three module simulation simulations have a maximum value of von mises stress is 74.119 N / mm2, normal stress is 57.765 N / mm2, and shear stress is 0.02279 N / mm2, where all stress values are below the maximum limit required by the American Institute of Steel Construction ( AISC) so that the barge structure does not need to be given additional reinforcement both internally and externally because it is still safe and able to withstand the topside when loading. Analysis with SPMT has the potential to be a benchmark in analyzing the strength of the barge structure in the process of loading out the offshore module (top side).

Abstract

Most of the heat exchangers onboard are in the form of shell and tube. Another form is the plate heat exchanger (PHE). The advantage of PHE is that it has a very large displacement surface at a small volume of tools. Selection of suitable gasket material for PHE is very important. It is intended for a long service life of PHE. The research has been conducted at the shipyard of PT. JMI Semarang to find out the location and cause of plate leakage from PHE. PHE observations and improvements are carried out when the ship is docked at the shipyard. Repairs were made directly in the form of operational data and manual book PHE type of M15.

Abstract

Interior design is the process of designing and planning a room by prioritizing the aspects of beauty, comfort, and function of the room. With the development of time, a room is required to provide more functions supported by adequate furnitureeven with a limited space capacity like the room on a ship. This research will design an item of furniture with a primary function and several secondary functions so that it can reduce the use of more furniture in space. This study applies anthropometric calculations to produce ergonomic furniture dimensions and is friendly to the human body shape. Besides, the design made does not leave the beauty aspect by taking a modern minimalist concept. This design takes a natural form from a beehive which is considered to have advantages in terms of structure and is easy to mix and match with oneanother. This research produces a sofa design as a primary function as a seat and bed, and a secondary function as a table and chairs. This sofa can be assembled as needed so that it gets a secondary function which is very suitable for use in a space that is not too large like the room on a tourist ship.

Abstract

Beach is an area that is physically subject to change. This change is caused by natural processes and human activities. Physical changes that generally occur on the beach are erosion and sedimentation. The dynamic processes that occur atthe beach are the result of a combination of various forces at work on the beach, which include the force of waves, currents, sedimentary movements, wind and so on. To analyze sediment transport in coastal areas, one of the main thingsthat need to be known is the characteristics of coastal sediments. The study was carried out on beaches prone to erosion and sedimentation, the location of sample data research at several points taken in the area around the Aeng TakalarVillage Beach and Padongko Barru Beach. The analysis carried out is the analysis of the distribution of sediment grainsto determine the characteristics of existing sediments on the beach. The results showed that the sizes of the sediment samples on the beach in Aeng Village, Takalar District were a mixture of fine sand and medium sand which had a diameterof 0.125 mm - 0.5 mm and the size of the sediment grains on the Padongko beach. Kabru was a mixture of fine sand and medium sand which has a diameter of 0.125 - 0.5 mm.

Abstract

Sedimentation is the deposition of rock material that has been transported by water or wind. Majene is one of the areas in Indonesia which is mostly a coastal area so it is necessary to research the sedimentation rate. The sediment rate was determined using an assembled device made of 4 m iron and a 25 cm long 2-inch pipe tied to the iron. The measurement location consists of 3 locations. The first location is located at the western end of Barane beach, the second location is in the middle and the third location is located at the eastern end of Barane Beach which is close to the river mouth. The sediment height measurement in the pipe was carried out every week for each location for 3 measurements. From the research results, the sedimentation rate at location 1 ranged from 14,788.36-23,238.85 cm3/year with average sedimentation of 18,661.5 cm3/year. The sedimentation rate for location 2 ranged from 12,675.73-21,654.38 cm3/year with an average sedimentation of 16,724.92 cm3/year. The sedimentation rate for location 3 ranges from 13732.04-16900.98 cm3/year with average sedimentation of 15,562.98 cm3/year. Ocean currents carry sediment towards the western end of the Barane coast so that the largest sedimentation rate is at the first location.

Abstract

The demand for small LNG carriers in Indonesia is increasing along with the increasing demand for LNG supply from the LNG field to the islands in eastern Indonesia. The distribution of LNG to islands in eastern Indonesia is not efficient if using a larger LNG carrier because in the islands there is no gas pipeline infrastructure to distribute LNG from the LNG terminal at the port to the user. With a small LNG carrier, the distribution LNG can use a small LNG tank that will be taken by land vehicles after the ship rests at the port. To design a small LNG ship, various calculations are needed so that the ship being built will have a good and efficient performance. One of them that must be calculated is the ship's resistance and engine power to be installed. In this paper the prediction of ship resistance and EHP BHP for prediction power of engine using numerical simulation methods. The results of this paper are for ship resistance at design 1 of 101.01 kN and for design 2 of 267.06 kN. In design 1 for EHP of 519.93 kW and BHP of 611.68 kW, and in design 2 EHP of 1373.87 kW and BHP of 1616.33 kW.

Abstract

The use of fiberglass-based composites is often found in shipbuilding. However, the use of composites in the shipbuilding process does not yet have clear and standard quality standards regarding the ratio between the amount of resin and catalyst used. Meanwhile, the amount of use of resin and  atalyst has an influence on the strength of the fiber-reinforced composite. This study aims to determine the effect of the amount of catalyst mixed into the resin on the tensile strength of fiberglass-polyester composites. The method used in this study is an xperimental method that uses a tensile testing machine by varying the amount of catalyst in the resin from 0.5% to 2%. In this study, the results showed that composites with a catalyst amount of 0.5% had a tensile strength value of 4.85 kgf/mm2, elongation of 2.43% and elastic modulus of 2.26 kgf/mm2. Composites with a catalyst amount of 1% had a tensile strength value of 5.02 kgf/mm2, longation of 1.71% and elastic modulus of 2.96 kgf/mm2. Composites with a catalyst amount of 1.5% had a tensile strength value of 5.49 kgf/mm2, longation of 1.97% and elastic modulus of 3.07 kgf/mm2. Composites with a catalyst amount of 2% had a tensile strength value of 4.97 kgf/mm2, longation of 1.62% and elastic modulus of 3.11 kgf/mm2. The tensile strength of fiberglass-polyester composites has increased in the amount of catalyst 0.5 to 1.5% and has decreased in the amount of catalyst 2%. The highest value of tensile strength is in composites with a composition of 100% resin and 1.5% catalyst.

Abstract

The biological, chemical and physical compounds in waters will effect the life of the biota in it. Nitrate is the main form of nitrogen in natural waters and the major nutrient for alga growth. The aim of this research is determining the concentration of nitrate in Pasir Putih waters, so that the research data can be utilized as water quality monitoring in Pasir Putih waters, Bungatan district, Situbondo regency. The nitrate data in marine waters sampling was collected from three stations and through laboratory analysis methods. The marine waters samples ware putted in dark glass bottles and stored in coolbox for aboratory analysis, then the data results was compared with water quality standard based on theDecree of the State Minister of the Environment Number 51 of 2004. The average of the concentration of nitrate at station A is 6,8 mg/l; at station B is 10,2 mg/l; at station C is 5,6 mg/l. The average of nitrate concentration at sampling stationsis 7,53 mg/L shows that nitrate concentration level is exceed the water quality standard based on the Decree of the State Minister of the Environment Number 51 of 2004. This leads to an indication of anthropogenic pollution in the waters due to the existence of floating net cages near the research location at Pasir Putih waters Situbondo regency. It needs further researchs about the presence of floating net cages to the surrounding water quality.
