Abstract

Learning by applying game technology in learning media will attract students' attention. This study uses a domino physics game with quantities and units as materials. Each card will be printed with a barcode containing information regarding the principal amount, unit, symbol, and dimensions. The process of making physics domino card media uses the ADDIE development model. The trial was conducted on 133 class X students at one of the SHS in the Pamekasan and Surabaya Regencies. The results of the validation of the physics domino cards in the media aspect obtained a very valid average category value, and the material aspects got a very valid average category value. The results of the average percentage of responses of Al Amien Pamekasan senior high school students after using the domino physics media with indicators of ease of obtaining, interest, and usefulness obtained scores in the very good category. The results of the average percentage of responses from Pamekasan 4 senior high school students after using the domino physics media with indicators of ease of obtaining, interest, and usefulness obtained scores in the very good category. The average percentage of senior high school 9 Surabaya responses after using the domino physics media with indicators of ease of obtaining, interest, and usefulness received scores in the very good category. Domino physics learning media can make it easier for students to understand the material in quantities and units and instill a strong will to learn physics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ critical thinking skills and the corresponding prior knowledge of Virtual Reality (VR) media used for learning purposes in a classroom setting. A total of 65 high school students from Grade XI Science 1 and Science 2 were involved as respondents in this preliminary research using qualitative-descriptive analysis. The instrument used included questionnaires (distributed over the respondents) containing 12 questions on VR relevant to the indicators of critical thinking skills. The results showed students' skills in critical thinking at the intermediate level. The indicator of analytical ability has the highest percentage in the medium category. The number of students with critical thinking skills in the high category is 14, and in the medium category, as many as 51 students. Students' prior knowledge of VR media (familiar with the technology) was reported to 46.00% of all the respondents, and the remaining 54.00% did not know what it was. However, all the respondents were interested and happy with VR media as a learning tool. Improvement of critical thinking skills could be achieved through contextual learning and VR learning media. The implication of the present study for future use of VR education media in schools is possible as VR media is considered to be technology-assisted learning, applicable to science and physics teachers when delivering learning materials in class.

Abstract

National identity is interesting to be discussed, considering the loss of national boundaries since technological advances increasingly affect daily life. National identity is essential to be implemented from an early age, primarily through the role of education. The focus of this study is to reveal the Principal's strategy for strengthening national identities. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach through a survey of 50 elementary school principals spread over 18 subdistricts in the Sidoarjo Regency. Two things can be concluded from this study. First, national identity is essential for the young generation of mid-globalization. This study shows that every respondent realizes the importance of principal secondary schools developing straightforward policy programs about internalizing national identity. Those policy programs must integrate extracurricular activities, extracurricular activities, building school culture, and various participation activities. Second, most of the respondents agree that their schools have no clear policy as their guidance in internalizing national identity values in learning. Several teachers have integrated national identity values into learning through lesson plans or learning activities. This study recommends developing an applicable policy model to strengthen the national identity of the young generation.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the implementation of the referral system at the Centers for Character Development and Counseling Guidance (CCDGC) and Psychology Service Centers. This study uses a type of R&D with a descriptive approach. The participants in this research are the chairperson or secretary at the Center for Psychological Services, the CCDCG, and related parties in the internal referral system and system developers. Data analysis in the form of observation, documentation, and focus group discussion (FGD) was collected directly. This study's results indicate that the referral system carried out by the CCDCG can be implemented as needed. In addition, the Psychological Service Center in the psychological examination and consultation program can develop a referral system according to the needs of clients from outside the Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). This study implies that the implementation of the referral system makes it easier for users to access services according to their needs, and the psychology service center has an optimized SOP to rule the CCDCG at UNESA. The limitation of this study is that it is only focused on UNESA. Hence, further research can analyze the development of a referral system in the CCDCG to other institutions and compare it to UNESA.
