Abstract

Cultural safety is an important issue and should be targeted to be realized. This studyaims to determine the radiation dose and the results of medical examinations ofworkers working in the field of radiation during radiation at District General HospitalArifin Achmad Hospital Santa Maria and the Awal Bros hospital Pekanbaru. This typeof research is a kind of quantitative and qualitative research through a thematicapproach to correlation and analysis. Sampling technique using simple randomsampling as many as 39 people. Data analysis using correlation and Collaizi. Theresults of the 39 respondents indicating that the radiation workers in some PekanbaruCity Hospital RESULTS majority of radiation dose exposure in the normal categorywhich totaled 39 people (100%) from 2008 to 2011. For respondents leukocyte levels inthe normal range in the period of 2008 as many as 36 people (92.7%), in 2009 as manyas 38 people (97.4%), in 2010 as many as 38 people (97.4%), and in 2011 as manyas 35 people (89.7%). Statistically there is a weak correlation between radiationexposure to changes in the levels of leukocytes. It is characterized by the discovery ofradiation workers against health problems while working at the hospital. Mostrespondents have implemented radiation protection in accordance with the principlesof radiation protection such as the use of PPE, fillm badge, apron and to theenvironment in some Hospitals already use sunscreen with a protective layer of lead(Pb) and have been using glass-coated monitor lead (Pb).

Abstract

Human activities have had an impact on global warming due to greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions resulting from industrial activities, transportation and human activities that use fossil energy sources. The purpose of this research is to analyze the increase of air temperature using CO2 and CH4 gas concentration data from 2010-2016, to know the effect of greenhouse gases on the increase of air temperature, and to analyze the most influential factors in increasing air temperature in Pekanbaru and Padang City. The research method used is survey method with assessment and processing of secondary data. The research results found that greenhouse gases in particular the concentration of CO2 gas affect the temperature rise in Pekanbaru and Padang City. The increase of air temperature in Pekanbaru City is 0.52 °C up to 0.61 °C higher than the temperature rise in Padang City 0,51 °C up to 0.60 °C. The correlation of CO2 gas concentration with temperature rise in Pekanbaru City influenced the increase of air temperature by 10.2%. Factors that affect the most increase in air temperature in Pekanbaru City is the number of vehicles and the number of hotspots whereas in the city of Padang temperature rise is influenced by the number of vehicles and the number of industries. Government policies are required in mitigation efforts to reduce the impact of increased greenhouse gas concentrations by tree planting, peatland management and zero burning land clearing

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to clarify the relation between characteristics of sediments andenvironmental condition based on the analysis of surface sediment samples and total suspendedsediments from the Southern of Bagan Estuary which is located on the East Coast of SumateraIsland, Indonesia. Surface sediment samples and total suspended sediments were collected at 21stations using sediment sampler and van dorm sampler, respectively, in June 2010. The sampleswere analyzed by various analytical approaches i.e. mechanical grain size analysis, ignitionloss method, bulk chemical analysis using atomic absorption spectrometer and sand-graincomposition analysis. In general, the estuary area is characterized by finer sediments (medium-grained sand), by the lower values of organic matters (less than10%), and by the higher contentof Fe and Al per non calcareous clastic content, which is an index of terrigenous material inputrespectively. Concentration of total suspended sediment near bottom is higher than that ofsurface water, indicating sediments turbulented by strong current system. Judging from thedistribution pattern of the Fe and K contents at surface sediment, terrigenous materials weretransported northwestward along the coast of Pekaitan Village and of Barkey Island by strongebb current. Contrastingly, terrigenous materials were transported southeastward along thearea located between coast of Pekaitan Village and of Barkey Island by strong tide current.Geographical distribution of sand grain composition (lithogenous) strongly indicate thatterrigenous materials derived from the hinterland of Sumatera Island discharged through RokanRiver to the Southern of Bagan Estuary. In addition to, terrigenous materials are also resultedfrom coast erosion of Pekaitan Village and of Barkey Island, and turbulented sediments.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in February-June 2015 in the village of Kesumbo Ampai, District of Mandau, Bengkalis. The research was aimed to identify the forms of Sakai tribe's local wisdom toward forest sustainability and the local wisdom itself and analyze its influence toward the river sustainability concept. The method used in this research was qualitative method that was designed to provide a detailed overview on specific individuals or groups in a particular circumstance and symptom. In order to understand the forms of Sakai tribe's local wisdom, the researcher conducted in-depth interviews with the Sakai community leaders, village heads and the Head of Bengkalis' Culture and Tourism Department. The result showed that Sakai's local wisdom can preserve forests and rivers in their vicinity area. One of the methods used to preserve the forest ecology is by applying a strict land zonification. In regards to the land clearing, the Sakai people keeps using a simple technology until now. For the seeds planting as well, the Sakai people does not work the land and the plants are maintained using organic fertilizers. The simplicity of the technology is a symbol of environmental wisdom. For hunting or fishing at the river, the Sakai people uses traditional equipment that are environmentally friendly so that the river area can be preserved.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai Mei 2007 di areal PT Patra Dock Dumai, Propinsi Riau. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas diatom epilitik pada lambung kapal dan juga untuk memahami faktor-faktor kualitas air yang mempengaruhi keberadaan epilitik. Data yang diperoleh langsung dari observasi dan pengumpulan sampel di lapangan. Analisis dan identifikasi sampel di atom epilitik dilakukan di laboratorium Kelautan Terpadu Universitas Riau. Jumlah spesies diatom epilitik terdiri dari 31 spesies ditemukan. Dua diatom epilitik dengan tingkat kelimpahan yang tinggi, yaitu Nitzschia sigma dan Nitschia vermicularis. Spesies tersebut menjadi spesies yang toleranterhadap tekanan arus dan udara. Kelimpahan diatom epilitik pada kapal dari besi berkisar antara 459 sampai 10.107 ind/cm2, pada kapal fiber antara 459 sampai 8.729 ind/cm2 dan kapal kayu antara 459 sampai 8.729 ind/cm2 . Dari indeks standar kergaman (H’), indeks keseragaman dan indeks dominansi, perairan memiliki keseimbangan dan tidak ada dominansi. Parameter kualitas air berada pada range yang sedang untuk diatom epilitik laut.

Abstract

Land/Forest Fire and Climate Factor Influence Analysis of PM10 Concentrations in Pekanbaru City during the 2011-2015 Timeframe have been done. The purpose of this study to find out how big the influence of climate and forest/land to PM10 concentration and its impact on aviation and incidence of Acute Respiration Infection (ARI) disease in Pekanbaru City during the period 2011-201. The method used in this research is secondary data survey method located in Pekanbaru City Air Laboratory, BMKG Pekanbaru, Pekanbaru City Health Office, PT. Angkasa Pura II Pekanbaru and LAPAN. Data were analyzed statistically and discussed descriptively. The population in this study is all of the data for PM10 and climatic factors Sukajadi station records and other data from relevant agencies. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling method that is a diary within 24 hours of the PM10 and climatic factors are summed and then taken the average monthly. so that the sample observations from the years 2011-2015 as many as 60 samples (12 samples in one year). The results showed that climatic factors and forest / land fires (hotspots) affect the concentration of PM10 in Pekanbaru City. From 7 (seven) variables analyzed finally obtained 3 (three) variable very significant influence. The concentration of PM10 also affects the aviation activity and the incidence of ARI in Pekanbaru. Based on the research results can be concluded that the factors that greatly affect the concentration of PM10 is the event of forest fire and land (hotspot) next rainfall and the last is the wind speed. The incidence of ARI and the aviation activity in Pekanbaru City is also influenced by PM10 concentration

Abstract

The Analysis of character education in creating awareness about the environment hasbeen conducted at SMK - 4 Pekanbaru in June 2013. This study uses a survey throughinterviews to the questioner and respondent. The research concludes that (1) the schoolcharacter education in the category of good it has done with students indicatorsappropriate waste disposal between organic and inorganic species, (2) environmentalawareness in the category of students is also a good indicator of the level of activity inparticular on the use of waste 4 vocational school in Pekanbaru environment. So withthe character education can be instrumental in improving students' environmentalawareness SMKN 4 Pekanbaru Riau Province labih both within academia and outsideof that environment.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to in order know the effect of effective microorganisms(EM4) on the tofu waste water in the Chemical laboratory FMIPA Riau University Pekanbaruon 18 March - 08 April 2010. Samples were taken from outlet of tofu industry Sido RukunStreet Kecamatan Payung Sekaki. The treatment was using EM4 with concentration of 1:20(Treatment A), the second treatment was using concentration of EM4 1:10 (Treatment B) andC as control. The results of the experimental showed that Treatment A was more effectivethan Treatment B and Control in decreasing BOD and COD for 13 days experiment.

Abstract

Compounds that are often used by society in controlling fly populations are chemical insecticides. Inappropriate use of chemical insecticides will harm the environment and human health directly and long term, such as poisoning, respiratory disorders, resistance to insects and environmental pollution. One other alternative to control house flies is organic insecticide that it is basic ingredients come from nature. The purposes of this study were for analyze the effectiveness of organic insecticides in controlling house fly vectors, to determine the concentration of LC 50% organic insecticides to house flies and to find out the impact of organic insecticides on environmental and economic aspects. This study used an experimental method and a completely randomized design (CRD) with four different treatments, namely control, 10% betel leaf extract + 4 ml EM4, 20% betel leaf extract + 4 ml EM4 and 30% betel leaf extract + 4 ml EM4. Each treatment was carried out with three replications. The results of the analysis showed the least amount of mortality of house fly in the control treatment ie one house fly, while the highest average of house flies mortality are 30% betel leaf extract treatment + 4 ml EM4 that are 8.66 house flies. Based on the ANOVA test, the p value <0.05 was concluded that the mean of the four research treatments differed significantly. Based on probit analysis, it was found that the concentration of LC 50% in house flies was 13.09%. Organic insecticide in terms of environment and economy has a positive impact, it can reduce odor in organic waste and has economic value compared to chemical insecticides.

Abstract

This study was carried out around. The floating net cages in Koto Panjang HydropowerReservoir from May until June 2014, with the purpose of research is to analyze theinfluence of floating net cages on diatom community structure around the floating netcages, to analyze the condition of aquatic quality around the floating net cages, basedon parameters, physics, chemistry and examine the connection between aquatic qualityand diatom community structure around the floating net cages, based on parameters,physics, chemistry and examine the connection between aquatic quality and diatomcommunity structure around the floating net cages. The method which was used issurvey method. The analysis and identification was done in Ecology Laboratory andManagement of Aquatic Environment in Marine and Fisheries Faculty of RiauUniversity. The result showed that the variety and abundance of planktonic andperiphytic diatoms are 19 genus with the total of planktonic diatom abundance is 9667cell/L periphytic diatom is 8000 cell/cm2, from the index value of diversity types ofplanktonic diatom (H’) (2,0702 – 2,3446) dominance index value (C) (0,2370 – 0,3125)and uniformity index value (E) (0,7374 – 0,8352), whereas for periphytic diatom, theindex value of diversity types is (0,9950-2,2443), dominance index value is (0,2470-0,5035) and uniformity index value is (0,8682-0,9950). The result of water qualitymeasurement of nitrate is under the recommended threshol as according to GovernmentRegulation Number 82 of 2001 About the Management of Water Quality and Control ofWater Pollution. Based on analysis of variance (ANOVA), it is found that there is verysubstanstial connection among nitrate, phosphate, brightness, temperature and DO onthe diatom community structure. Therefore, there is influence of floating net cages ondiatom community structure and aquatic quality in the area around Koto Panjanghydropower reservoir.
