Abstract

The purpose of this study was to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of character education for students using M-Learning-based media containing content and display according to the needs and interests of students at the elementary school level. The method used is the Design and Development research method, with data collection carried out including literature studies, interviews, validation with experts, and questionnaires. The final results of this study are user tasks, evidence of student character changes, prototype designs, and mobile applications in providing an understanding of character values with a good user experience and displaying content that is in accordance with the needs and interests of students so that they are motivated to implement every positive character value they learn. This is because Civics Caring Apps provides customized types of text, graphics, audio, video, quizzes, animations, and interactivity to allow everyone to access various forms of media to create more meaningful programs for users. Based on the research that has been done, the online learning process (on the network) has hampered the process of internalizing character education in students. The presence of Civics Caring Apps has been proven to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the character-building process of students during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Integration of Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) will assist teachers to the global requirement to replace traditional teaching methods with technology-based teaching and learning tools and facilities. In Malaysia, ICT is considered as one of the main elements in transforming the country to future development. The Ministry of Education, through the latest Education Blueprint (2013-2025), insights the importance of technology-based teaching and learning into the schools’ national curriculum. This study aims to analyze teachers’ perceptions of the effectiveness of ICT integration to support the teaching and learning process in the classroom. A survey questionnaire was distributed randomly to a total of 101 teachers from 10 public secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The data for this quantitative research were analyzed for both descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS (version 21) software. The results indicate that ICT integration has great effectiveness for both teachers and students. Findings indicate that teachers’ well-equipped preparation with ICT tools and facilities is one of the main factors in the success of technology-based teaching and learning. It was also found that professional development training programs for teachers also played a key role in enhancing students’ quality learning. For future studies, there is a need for consideration of other aspects of ICT integration especially from a management point of view concerning strategic planning and policymaking.

Abstract

The study examined the effect of technology-enabled video instruction (TEVI) on senior secondary school students’ performance in selected technical drawing (TD) concepts in Ilorin. The sample for this study consists of an intact class in a senior secondary school in Ilorin. The research adopted a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative research, pre-experimental research of one-group pretest-posttest design. Technology-Enabled Video was used for data collection. The findings from the study revealed that TEVI had a positive effect on the academic performance of students taught selected TD concept, (63.1˃ 51.5), there was a significant difference in the pretest and posttest performance of students taught selected technical drawing concept using TEVI i.e. (df=15, t=-565, p=.000˂0.05). The study concluded that technology-enabled video instruction which is an improvised instructional aid did enhance the academic performance of the students. The study implies that proper integration of technology-based packages like TEVI for instructional delivery will adequately enhance students’ performance. The study Recommended that TEVI should be encouraged among teachers and students, as this will help to boost learners’ interest and provide learners the ability to learn in a direct, self-paced, and individualistic manner, which will, in turn, translate to better academic performance.

Abstract

Academic performance in English is essential for every graduate to respond to the needs of global trends. Thus, every school is being challenged to produce globally competitive individuals. This study determined the relationship between students’ academic performance in English and; language literacy, study habits, parental support, and teachers’ teaching ability of Grade 9 students of Sto. Tomas College-Danao City, Cebu. The study utilized Descriptive Correlational Design and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The standardized tests were used in conducting the survey. The result revealed that academic performance was highly affected by study habits. Study habits had a great impact on the success of students’ academic performance in English. Among all the variables of the study, the students’ study habits got the lowest percentage mean score. This implied that though how well the students were being supported by the parents, how good were they in language literacy, and how good their teachers’ performance in teaching but they lack study habits still; it would lead to low academic performance. However, the other predictors still contributed to students’ performance with the support of good study habits. Therefore; it needs an intervention on how to improve the students’ study habits to develop good academic performance in English. Administrators, teachers, and parents should work hand in hand for students’ study habits enhancement and good academic performance.

Abstract

The study specifically investigated cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition of male and female non-athletes in Nigeria concerning their physical fitness status. A descriptive research design of survey type was used. The population comprised all 100 non-athletes. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used. We structured a questionnaire validated by three experts. A reliability coefficient of 0.70 was obtained using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Data collection was conducted by the researcher, and two trained research assistants. The four hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics of Chi-square at 0.05 alpha level. The findings of this study showed a significant influence of cardiorespiratory endurance as well as physical fitness of male and female non-athletes. Also, there was a significant influence on muscular strength and physical fitness, flexibility and physical fitness status, as well as body composition and physical fitness status of male and female non-athletes. Non-athlete students should engage in physical activities to promote cardiorespiratory endurance during any exercise. Non-athlete students should engage in regular training with weights or using the weight of the body for resistance during calisthenics exercises to promote muscular strength in them.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine job satisfaction and academic achievement in secondary schools in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State. The study was conducted using a descriptive survey research approach. Using a proportional random selection technique, 246 teachers from eight public secondary schools in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State made up the study's sample size. Teachers’ Job Satisfaction and Academic Performance of Students Questionnaire (TJSAPQ) was the self-structured questionnaire used as the research tool for this study. The four-point Likert scale type was used in its creation. To examine participant biodata, descriptive statistics of percentages were utilized. Percentage and mean were then used to respond to the study questions, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistical tools were used to test the hypotheses. The researcher concluded that the academic performance of secondary schools in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area was substantially connected with teachers' satisfaction with pay, promotion, working conditions, and human relations. However, there is no correlation between secondary school academic achievement in Ifako Ijaiye local government area and teachers' contentment with principal supervision. It was suggested that school administration and the education board acknowledge and suitably reward teachers' efforts.
