Abstract

This study examined the social influence and facilitating condition as determinants of secondary school teachers’ behavioural intention to use mobile technologies for instruction in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research of the survey type to 958 teachers in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The findings indicated there was strong relationship among teachers’ social influence, facilitating condition and behavioral intention to use mobile technologies with ANOVA value of F (2,956) 61.53 p 0.05, F (2,956) 28,786 p 0.05 and F (2,956) 5.152 p 0.05, respectively. The study concluded that teachers' social influence and facilitating conditions influenced their behavioural intention to use mobile technologies for instruction. The implication is that there might be an improvement in teaching and learning at secondary school if mobile technologies are integrated into teaching. The study recommended among others, that secondary school teachers should help themselves by making use of mobile technologies for instructional purposes and shift their focus from using them for fun and entertainment to improving instructional delivery.

Abstract

This study determined the utilization of e-resources for learning among undergraduates. The study adopted descriptive research of the survey type. The population for this study consists of all National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) undergraduates. Proportional sampling techniques were used to allocate many respondents in each NOUN centre based on their estimated population using Israel Model. The instrument for data collection was an adapted questionnaire. Descriptive and Inferential statistics were used to answer the research question and test the stated hypotheses with the aid of statistical product and service solution (SPSS) version 20.0 at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings indicated that undergraduate students had positive utilization of E-resources for learning. No significant difference exists in the undergraduate students’ utilization of E-resources for learning based on gender and digital age. The study concluded that learning can be enhanced among undergraduate students if appropriate resources are deployed for learning. Therefore, it was recommended that undergraduate students be encouraged to deploy e-resources for learning irrespective of their gender.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise in online gaming and the absence of face-to-face education in schools has raised worries about the effect on students' academic performance. This study aimed to find out the relationship between the level of online learning and the academic performance of BPEd students. It is in this light of this study to assess the level of impact of online games to the: (1) health aspect, (2) social aspect, (3) intellectual aspect, and (4) academic performance of chosen BPED students at Sultan Kudarat State University Access Campus. The researchers employed a descriptive-evaluative research approach since the study's findings would analyze students' engagement in online gaming applications, and the researchers used Google Forms to collect the data they required. With a total of thirty respondents, the set questionnaires employed will act as a data collection tool. Frequency count and weighted mean were the statistics employed in the investigation. According to the survey, the majority of the respondents are in the 20-year-old age group, with 40% of the respondents coming from the second-year level. It also revealed that the majority of respondents who played online games are men, accounting for 80 percent of the study's respondents. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that playing online games has no substantial association with the respondents' academic success, as evidenced by their Probability-value.

Abstract

Indonesia's low literacy rate makes Indonesia lagging behind several other countries. The purpose of this study is to improve technological literacy in school students. This study uses the YouTube application as a medium to improve technological literacy. The method used is descriptive quantitative with an approach using a pre-experimental method in the form of a one-group pre-test post-test design. The results of this study an increase in knowledge of technological literacy by 42%. The pre-test result of 28% increased to 70% after being given treatment. YouTube media is proven to be able to improve technological literacy in elementary school students and can be used as a technology literacy media.

Abstract

Schools are institutions designed for the learning process. The school level is divided into basic education, secondary education, and higher education. The purpose of the school is to develop the potential of students. The purpose of this research is to combine mapping analysis with the VOSviewer application. In addition to VOSviewer, Publish or Perish was also carried out in this study. The keyword used is "High School". Based on search results of 1000 relevant articles published from 2017-2021. Based on the research results, the number of published articles about "high school" has decreased every year. This research is expected to help researchers who will conduct and determine the research theme.

Abstract

The fourth industrial era (or Industry 4.0) refers to the recent trend of massive data collection, analysis, and communication with intense process automation. Massive studies have been conducted in this field, though with the main focus on technical details, hardware, and software. There remains a considerable gap in the analysis of the potential effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on economies and management. According to recent studies, from 45% to 60% of jobs around the globe are at risk of being automated or computerized. Although new jobs such as automation engineers, programmers, data analysts, and others are being created, the economies would get a significant amount of workforce lacking the necessary qualifications. A causal model that shows the effect of increasing automation on economies has been developed and discusses potential implications. The paper suggests that economies and organizations would have to adopt “Algorithmic Management” to remain competitive in the new digital environment. This paper can be a reference, especially from an education perspective.

Abstract

The introduction of distance learning in education in universities has transferred the competition between them to a higher, global level also. However, Sudan is one of the African countries, suffering from many challenges that are related to technology such as poor network, lack of awareness, lack of commitment of institutions and instructors, and lack of network coverage to the remote areas. Therefore, this paper aimed to review the initiative of distance education in some Sudanese universities. In doing so, this paper followed a qualitative research approach to the type of case study research. The information for this study was derived from articles, books, online sources, reports, and documents. The paper reviewed distance education policy in some Sudanese Universities Such as the Open University of Sudan, University of Khartoum, Sudan University of Science and Technology, Al-Neelain University, and Al-Zaeem Al-Azhari University. It was normal that universities in Sudan needed to introduce their teachers and students to such distance education programs to achieve more excellence in teaching and learning. The paper suggests college officials should adopt policies to implement distance education in Sudanese universities.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of the concept mapping teaching approach on students’ performance in Chemistry in senior secondary schools regarding a periodic table concept. W analyzed 11,094 chemistry students from eleven public senior secondary schools in Katsina. Two schools and 128 Senior Secondary chemistry students formed the sample for the study. Three research questions with hypotheses were raised and formulated respectively to guide the study. The study was a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group involving one experimental group and one control group. The chemistry Performance Test was used for data collection. The study revealed that there is no significant difference in the mean performance scores of students taught a periodic table concept using concept mapping and those taught the same concept before the treatment. There is a significant difference in the performance of the students taught a periodic table concept using concept mapping and those taught the same concept using a conventional teaching method after the treatment. Also, there is no significant difference in the mean performance score that exists between male and female chemistry students.

Abstract

Mathematics is a special subject that cut across every other subject and every aspect of human life and serves as a clue in solving real-life problems. Teaching mathematics with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) materials might bring tremendous progress in the field of mathematics learning. This is activity-based which makes all students in mathematics class participate fully and contribute to learning. The opinion of secondary school students on ICT use, what is expected from them, and the motivation encountered in mathematics class was investigated. Three hundred (300) secondary school II learners were selected randomly from six secondary schools in Educational District II in Lagos state. The instrument used was based on Mathematics Teaching with ICT (MTICT), this was divided into different sections Student Perceived Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, Facilitating Conditions, and Student Motivation. The data were analyzed with percentages and mean. From the result, the use of ICT in teaching secondary school mathematics enhanced the performance expectancy, create more motivation and the social influence from peers, friends, colleagues, and society members contribute immensely to the encouragement of the student in ICT use for studying mathematics. Therefore, ICT should be used in secondary school mathematics teaching.
