Abstract

Urfu Bay is one of the new marine tourism destinations among the Biak Numfor community. This tourist area does not yet have data from scientific studies related to the level of suitability of the region and its environmental carrying capacity, so it is considered necessary to do so. It is feared that the unavailable accurate data about the condition of tourist areas can pose risks to the comfort and safety of visitors, considering these two aspects are the main reference in the management and development of a tourist area. The purpose of the research is: (1) to know the level of conformity of Urfu Bay area as a marine tourism area, and (2) to know the carrying capacity of urfu bay marine tourism area. The research took place from July to September 2020 in the marine tourism area of Urfu Bay, Biak Numfor Regency. The research methods used are surveys with random sampling techniques, observations, interviews, and library studies. The results showed: [1] Urfu Bay marine tourism area is not suitable for coastal recreation activities (1,235) and diving (1,370), while it is suitable for snorkeling tourism activities (2,285), and [2] the carrying capacity of the urfu bay marine tourism area is 176 people per day. The conclusion of this research is that the coastal area of Urfu Bay is not suitable for marine/coastal tourism activities. Keywords: Suitability; Carrying Capacity; Marine Tourism; Urfu Bay; Biak Numfor

Abstract

Abstract

Youtefa Bay is a coastal area with a form of closed waters located in front of Jayapura City. The closed waters become Nature Tourism Areas. Population growth in the bay area is increasing and the rapid development activities in the coastal area, for various purposes such as settlements, fisheries, ports, tourism objects, cause increased ecological pressure on coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. This study aims to determine the potential of biological resources through an inventory and identification study, coral reef and the status and condition of coral reef ecosystem health through lifeform analysis and the Coral Death Index. Data collection on coral reef ecosystems is carried out at 2 (two) stations using the LIT (Line Intercept Transect) method. The results found overall the range of percentage of coral cover in the range between 48.44 to 50.26%, while the coral mortality index (MI) ranged from 0.19 to 0.32 at both stations. Health status and condition of the coral reef ecosystem shows poor condition (poor).Key Words: Coral reef; Line Intercept Transect; Health status; Mortality index; Youtefa bay

Abstract

Cellulose is included in the main polysaccharide group that is widely available in nature. Cellulose is a straight-chain glucose polymer that is bound by β-1,4 glucoside bonds. Cellulase is an enzyme complex consisting of several enzymes that work in stages or together in breaking down cellulose into glucose, by hydrolyzing the β-1,4 glucoside bond in cellulose. Cellulase enzymes have been used in various industries. Industrial applications require enzymes that are stable at high temperatures. Various types of thermostable enzymes can be isolated from thermophilic bacteria, cellulase enzymes are no exception. This study aims to isolate and identify thermophilic bacteria that produce cellulase enzymes from Sila hot springs. The results of isolation and screening of cellulase-producing bacteria from hot water samples obtained by 7 isolates that have the ability to degrade cellulose can produce clear zones on LB-CMC agar selective medium, but CR2 isolates showed the largest zone of 1.5 cm. CR2 isolates were Gram-positive bacteria and were identified as having close relations with Bacillus aryabhattai strain B8W22 using the 16S rRNA method. Keywords: Cellulose; Cellulose enzyme; Thermostable enzyme; Thermophilic bacteria
