JLTA publishes academic articles that recognize successful engaged learning depends on effective partnerships between students, faculty, community agencies, administrators, disciplines, and more. The journal invites submission of 1) Research that emanates from or informs campus-community partnerships; 2) Studies co-authored by faculty, students, and/or community partners; 3) Literature and Teaching English as Foreign Language; and 4) Commentary on emerging trends, developments, and/or challenges. <![CDATA[Since the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the government announced that learning would be moved online. This results in teacher assessments of students having to be done online. This research was conducted to find out how online assessment is applied by teachers in schools, especially in learning English. This study aims to determine whether teachers have difficulties and what difficulties are encountered by teachers in conducting online assessments, as well as how teachers overcome their difficulties. This study uses qualitative research methods and the subject of this research is an English teacher in SMPN 4 Bantimurung Kab. Maros. This study uses interviews and questionnaires as research instruments, interview questions and questionnaires to find out the difficulties of teachers in conducting online assessments and the implementation during the covid-19 pandemic.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to find out how does the teacher assess students’ English learning achievement using Google Meeting Application at Second Grade MAN Bantaeng.This research used a descriptive qualitative method,the instruments used observation and interview. The observation used to observed the English teacher and the interview used to found How does the teacher assess students’ English learning achievement using Google Meeting Application.The subject of this research is teacher who teaching English using Google Meeting at second grade MAN Bantaeng.The results of this study show that teachers use speaking tests to assess students' English learning performance in the Google Meeting app. Teachers evaluate students' English learning performance through oral examinations. Students join Google Meetings one by one, and teachers then ask questions directly on daily exams or final exams. Teacher evaluations of the Google Meet Student Performance App show that students' English skills can improve after passing the Google Meeting app test. Students can respond well to questions posed by teachers.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was about a multiple choice comparative study and short answer on students' reading comprehension achievement in the ninth grade of SMPN 2 Ulaweng. The problem statement of this research was there a significant difference of the students' achievement in reading comprehension by using multiple choice test and their achievement on the short answer test?. The purpose of this research was to find out a significant difference of the students‟ achievement in reading comprehension by using multiple choice test and their achievement on he short answer test as the measure of reading comprehension.This study applied a quantitative design, with a sample of 40 students divided into 2 classes. The instrument used was in the form of a test which is divided into two types of multiple choice and short answer.The results of this study indicate that the students‟ achievement in multiple choice test, higher than students‟ achievement in the short answer test. The analysis of the mean score gap between the closed test and multiple choice in the test was different. The mean score of the multiple choice was 71.5 and 47.5 short answer. From the result the researcher concluded that multiple choice test is better than short answer test to increase students‟ achievement in reading comprehension at the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Ulaweng.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed at improves the students’ reading ability at the eighth grade through Neurological Impress Method in term of literal comprehension dealing with main idea and supporting details.To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research (C.A.R) which was conduct in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken at the eighth grade students of MTS Al-Mansur Biangloe with a number of the subject were 20 students.The research findings indicated that the application of Neurological Impress Method was Significant in improving the students reading ability in term of literal comprehension dealing with main idea and supporting details. It was proved by the mean score of cycle I was 40. It was classified as poor then improve to be 83.75. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 32.5 that classified as very poor. Therefore, there was the improvement of the students reading ability in teaching and learning process from cycle I to cycle II in term of literal comprehension dealing with main ideas and supporting details.]]>

<![CDATA[This research deals language learning styles of the first-grade students of SMP Neheri 3 Bontomarannnu. The problem statement are : (1) Which language learning style is the most dominant used by the first grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Bontomarannu? (2) Do the students’ learning styles influence their English achievement? The objective of the research is to find out the most dominant language learning style used by the first-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Bonromarannu. (2) To found the influence of studens leaning style toward their achievement in learning English at SMP Negeri 3 Bontomarannu. The type of the research is descriptive quantitative. The research samples were 26 students. Then they were classified into four categories of learning style through learning style test: visual, auditory, read/write and kinesthetic learning style. In collecting the data, the researcher used a questionnaire and students’ score achievement.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to determine whether the English test made by the teacher is in accordance with the content validity. To determine the content validity, the researcher compare the English test with the syllabus, lesson plan, and the material that has been taught. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by using document analysis in the form of mid- semester test and interview from the teacher. This research collects data from English teacher who teaches in seventh grade in SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu.The results obtained after analysis the test made by the teacher, a total of 15 questions were made by the teacher who teaches in seventh grade in the mid- semester test. There are 13 questions that are categories accordance with the content validity, namely according to the syllabus, lesson plan, and the material that has been taught. While there are 2 questions that are categories as not accordance with the content validity. And from the results of interview, it can be concluded that the teacher made a grid of questions before making test. Test made by the teacher must be in accordance with the syllabus, lesson plan, and the material that has been taught and according to the level of student ability.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to aimed to find out students’ ability to identify main clause and sub clause on reported speech By fifth semester At Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This study used a descriptive quantitative research approach. The sample size was 30 students in total. Purposive sampling was utilized by the researcher. The data gathering instrument was written test.Based on the findings, the researcher found tha students’ ability to identify main clause and sub clause. Total score of the main clause test was 2.212, and the total numbers of the students were 30 while mean score of the students’ ability to identify main clause was 73.73 (good). Total score of the sub clause was 2.212, and total numbers of the students were 30 while the mean score of the students’ ability to identify sub clause was 73.73 (good) means some students were still difficult to determine them, and some students were having good comprehension about them. However this score need to be improved because this category is still low for college’s students.From the findings above, it can be concluded that students’ ability in identifying main clause and sub clause have good comprehension. However, the researcher concluded this score need to be improved.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to determine the improvement of students speaking ability after using the guessing game that in the process of teaching and learning speaking, teachers can bring real objects according to the theme of lessons. This research focuses to noun vocabulary,pronunciation,and fluency.The researcher applied the pre-xperimental method, consist of pre-test treatment, and post-test design, and collected the data by giving pre-test and posttest. The sample of the research was class VII A SMPN 1 Bontonompo Selatan which consisted of 16 students. The sample was taken by using guessing game method.The result of the research showed score in the pre-test was 41, and in the post-test was 75,44. In this research also show that The value t-test was higher than the value of the t-table (27,04>1.713 ). It mean that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded the implementation of guessing game in VII grade of SMPN 1 Bontonompo Selatan was effective to improve students’ speaking ability.]]>

<![CDATA[AHMAD MUQTADIR 2022. The Use of Discite App Tool in English Test (Descriptive Quantitative Research). A Thesis of English Education Department. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. Supervised by Erwin Akib and Yassir Malappiang. This research aimed to find out how multimedia Discite app tool is used in evaluating students’ english test and also the students’ response toward Discite app tool. The subjects of this research we the English teacher at the ninth grade and the students of the ninth grade students. It was chosen by using cluster sampling. The design of this study was descriptive quantitative. The instruments of this research were English Test, Observation and Questionnaires. The result of the data indicated that, first the value 90% is obtained as a percentage of the results of validation by the English teacher on the product. With this result, conclusions can be made about feasibility of English test developed by using Multimedia Authoring Tool. The feasibility of the product is very good or very interesting to be implemented in test. In general, the English teacher assess that the media is suitable for use. As for the advice, the test needs to add some picture because some of them are still not clear enough. Then it can make the test more interested and easy to answer. Second, The results of assessment from the students toward the product above show that the average value is 95%. In this process the students looked enthusiast in answering the test. They could know their answer was correct or incorrect after click submit button, it made them motivated more to answer the next question. Besides, some students feel uncomfortable with picture, combination colour and the instruction. By trial and testing with students in class the researcher found some parts need to be corrected in the product. The parts need to be corrected are combination colour, more instruction and need more picture to make it more interested.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of the research is to find students’ ability to Learn English at the tenth grade of SMAIT Ar-Rahmah Makassar. The research method is descriptive design with a quantitative approach. The population for this study is tenth-grade students at SMAIT Ar-Rahmah Makassar. The sample of this research was tenth grade, which contains 40 students. The research used Report text as the instrument of the research. The findings of the research shows that that the ability of in reading comprehension the students is quite good because the result categorize as fairly good. the level of students’ ability to learn English in Critical Reading is average. There are 74% (Fairly Good) the ability in terms of comprehension indicator. The ability of the students to Analyze the text in critical reading 68% (Fairly Good). The ability of the students in terms of Synthesis 71% (Fairly Good). The ability of the students to evaluate the report text 67% categorized as Fairly good. The highest ability of the students in terms critical reading to learn English is indicator of comprehension]]>
