Abstract

Belajar bahasa asing, terutama bahasa Inggris, membutuhkan konsentrasi dalam memahami makna dan isi materi. Permainan tradisional adalah aktivitas yang telah diwarisi sejak zaman kuno dan biasanya melibatkan gerakan fisik, seperti olahraga. Namun, di era digital saat ini, permainan tradisional semakin jarang. Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa internasional penting yang sangat dibutuhkan individu untuk dipelajari dalam era globalisasi saat ini. Namun, banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris karena kurangnya minat dan kesulitan memahami materi pelajaran. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana permainan tradisional dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris dan dampak penggunaan metode ini di era digital. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa dari sebuah MTs. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan permainan tradisional, seperti batu-gunting-kertas, dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan, motivasi, dan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris. Studi ini juga menemukan bahwa menggunakan permainan tradisional sebagai metode pengajaran dapat melestarikan warisan budaya dari permainan tersebut. Oleh karena itu, permainan tradisional harus dipertimbangkan sebagai pendekatan yang efektif bagi guru untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa mereka dengan cara yang menyenangkan dan menarik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi karakter kemandirian siswa melalui kegiatan ekstra kurikuler dalam konteks pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode observasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa sekolah menengah yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ekstra kurikuler di sebuah sekolah di daerah perkotaan. Data dianalisis melalui proses pengamatan, pencatatan, dan analisis tematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ekstra kurikuler memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam pengembangan karakter kemandirian siswa. Melalui kegiatan tersebut, siswa memiliki kesempatan untuk mengambil inisiatif, mengelola waktu, menghadapi tantangan, dan mengembangkan keterampilan sosial. Selain itu, kegiatan ekstra kurikuler juga membantu siswa untuk meningkatkan kemandirian dalam mengambil tanggung jawab, bekerja secara mandiri, dan mengatur diri sendiri.Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kegiatan ekstra kurikuler memiliki peran penting dalam pengembangan karakter kemandirian siswa. Sekolah dan pendidik perlu memberikan perhatian yang cukup pada perencanaan dan pelaksanaan kegiatan ekstra kurikuler yang mendorong kemandirian siswa. Dukungan dari guru pembimbing dan suasana yang positif dalam kegiatan tersebut juga berperan penting

Abstract

Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterlibatan siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPA pada siswa Kelas VIII D di SMP Negeri 18 Surabaya untuk tahun pelajaran 2022/2023. Penelitian ini melibatkan 32 siswa yang menunjukkan minat rendah dalam mata pelajaran tersebut. Hasil penilaian awal menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa berada di bawah tingkat yang diharapkan, dengan hanya mencapai persentase ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal sebesar 45%, sedangkan persentase ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal seharusnya mencapai minimal 70%. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini dan meningkatkan pengalaman belajar yang lebih baik, metode Snowball Throwing diterapkan. Berdasarkan analisis data, temuan penelitian, dan diskusi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode Snowball Throwing secara signifikan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPA. Pada pra-siklus, hasil belajar siswa berada pada tingkat 45%. Pada Siklus I, terjadi peningkatan yang sedikit, mencapai 59%, namun masih termasuk dalam kategori kurang. Namun, penyesuaian dilakukan untuk Siklus II, yang menghasilkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam hasil belajar, mencapai 79%, setelah menerapkan metode Snowball Throwing. Selain itu, penerapan metode Snowball Throwing juga meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA. Pada pra-siklus, keterlibatan siswa hanya mencapai 60%. Pada Siklus I, terjadi peningkatan, mencapai 67%. Pada Siklus II, keterlibatan siswa mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan, mencapai 97%. Siswa aktif berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan IPA dengan penerapan metode Snowball Throwing. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode Snowball Throwing efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterlibatan siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPA bagi siswa Kelas VIII D di SMP Negeri 18 Surabaya.

Abstract

Traditional teaching methods have been found to be ineffective in promoting students’ critical thinking skills, real-world application, and engagement. To overcome these issues, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) as an alternative teaching method to enhance the academic performance of Grade XII students in MAN 1 Kota Madiun. Using a pre-experimental design, the research focused on a single class, specifically Class XII-IPS 2, with a sample of 32 students during the second semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The topic investigated was “How to Prepare Your Future”. The study assessed the impact of implementing PBL on students' academic performance by examining their engagement, critical thinking skills, and ability to apply their knowledge to real-life situations. The results indicated that the use of PBL significantly improved students' academic performance, as evidenced by increased engagement, enhanced critical thinking skills, and better application of knowledge. These findings highlight the potential of PBL as an effective teaching method to improve students' overall academic achievement. Therefore, it is recommended that educators and policymakers explore the integration of PBL into their curriculum to enhance students' critical thinking skills and better prepare them for future challenges.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the improvement in mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the Gogo Iwac method (Google Classroom and Google Forms for Individual Work Activity). The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Plumpang, with eighth-grade students in Semester II as the research subjects. The research employed a Classroom Action Research approach consisting of two cycles. Data collection involved both test and non-test instruments, and data analysis was conducted by analyzing the learning outcomes from the Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The results of the study indicate a significant increase in the average scores from 66.39 in the Pre-Cycle to 71.25 in Cycle I, and further to 82.64 in Cycle II. This is also reflected in the graphical representation of the percentage of students’ mastery of the material. While the Pre-Cycle percentage of mastery was only 33.3%, it increased to 52.8% in Cycle I, and in Cycle II, it significantly rose to 94.4%, indicating that the students have achieved mastery in the topic of spatial figures in a classical sense. These findings demonstrate that the Gogo Iwac method can enhance student learning outcomes in mathematics. The implications of this research suggest the effectiveness of integrating technology tools like Google Classroom and Google Forms for individual work activities to improve mathematics learning outcomes. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impact and scalability of the Gogo Iwac method in different educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the influence of implementing an inquiry-based approach on students’ critical thinking skills in the subject of Pendidikan Agama Islam in 8th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Sawahan Madiun. The research utilized the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The study was conducted through several cycles, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observations, critical thinking ability tests, and interviews with students. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of the inquiry-based approach significantly improved students’ critical thinking skills. Students demonstrated improvements in their ability to analyze, evaluate, and connect religious concepts with everyday life contexts. They also actively engaged in the learning process and exhibited a high level of interest in Pendidikan Agama Islam. The study concluded that the implementation of the inquiry-based approach has the potential to enhance students’ critical thinking skills in the subject of Pendidikan Agama Islam. Recommendations from this study include integrating the inquiry-based approach into the teaching of Pendidikan Agama Islam in 8th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Sawahan Madiun, as well as providing training for teachers on effective strategies and techniques for implementing this approach.

Abstract

This classroom action research (CAR) aimed to improve learning outcomes in the subject of Islamic Cultural History at MI Roudlatul Huda Bibrik Jiwan Madiun, specifically targeting fourth-grade students. The study followed the CAR structure and utilized a cyclical process of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The intervention involved the use of educational games as a teaching strategy in Islamic Cultural History lessons. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and reflective journals. The findings revealed that the implementation of educational games positively influenced students' learning outcomes. There was a significant improvement in students’ understanding and retention of the subject matter. The study highlights the effectiveness of using educational games in enhancing student engagement, motivation, and active participation in the learning process. The results provide valuable insights for teachers and educators to explore innovative and interactive teaching approaches in Islamic education. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of religious education by incorporating engaging and interactive method.
