Abstract

Berpikir kritis adalah suatu proses internal yang bisa dilakukan oleh individu secara sadar dan melalui beberapa tahapan dalam memproses suatu informasi guna memecahkan masalah di kehidupan sehari-hari, dengan melatih kemampuan berpikir krtis maka siswa akan dapat berpikir secara logis atau ilmiah terkait masalah yang dihadapi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan modul stiker yang dapat melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan model pengembangan Research and Developmet yang terdiri dari tahap potensi dan masalah, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain, uji coba produk, revisi produk, dan uji pemakaian produk. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah validasi ahli, observasi, tes hasil belajar (pre-test dan post-test), respon siswa. Dengan prosedur penelitian terbagi menjadi tiga tahap yaitu tahap persiapan, pelaksanaa, dan tahap akhir. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester genap pada tanggal 14 Maret sampai 9 April 2020 dengan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa sekolah dasar kelas V SDN Gamping 2 sebanyak 11 siswa yang terbagi menjadi tahap uji coba dan uji pemakaian. Dari proses validasi oleh ahli modul dan ahli materi memperoleh hasil sebesar 4,21 dengan kategori sangat valid dan dinyatakan layak untuk dijadikan bahan ajar. Keefektifan modul dinilai dari hasil belajar dan keaktifan siswa selama mengikuti pembelajaran menggunkan modul stiker. Hasil belajar siswa sebesar 80% sampai 83,33% sehingga perkembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa meningkat sebesar 25% sampai 65% dan keaktifan siswa sebesar 80,46% sampai 82,07%. Sementara respon siswa terhadap modul stiker mencapai 96,67% dengan kategori sangat positif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi adanya permasalahan yang ada di kelas II Sekolah Dasar. Siswa kurang bisa memahami materi yang dipelajari sehingga hasil dan keaktifan belajar masih kurang. Dari permasalahan tersebut, peneliti ingin menggunakan metode NHT dan pendekatan Saintifik yang akan menjadi solusi penyemangat siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat pengaruh metode NHT dengan pendekatan saintifik terhadap hasil dan keaktifan belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Penelitian ini mencoba meneliti ada tidaknya hubungan sebab akibat. Penelitian eksperimen ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variabel X dan variabel Y. Yang dimana X adalah kualitas alat dan Y adalah Kualitas yang dihasilkan. Penelitian eksperimen ini dilaksanakan dengan sistem BDR (Belajar Dari Rumah) yang berjumlah 12 siswa. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengaruh metode NHT dengan pendekatan saintifik mendapat penilaian dari aspek kelayakan materi sebesar presentase 4,3 dengan kategori sangat valid yang artinya sudah layak untuk digunakan, dan penilaian keaktifan belajar siswa kelas kontrol presentase sebesar 76,6 yang memiliki kategori baik sedangkan penilaian keaktifan belajar siswa kelas eksperimen presentase sebesar 98,3 yang memiliki kategori sangat baik. Penilaian hasil wawancara pada siswa memperoleh presentase sebesar 0,95 yang memiliki kategori sangat baik. Nilai rata-rata tes awal (pretest) adalah 64,50 dengan standart deviasi adalah 5,368 sedangkan untuk nilai tes akhir (posttest) adalah 87,75 dengan standart deviasi adalah 7,967. Perbedaan nilai rata-rata hasil tes sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan pembelajaran menggunakan metode NHT dengan pendekatan saintifik terhadap hasil dan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas II SD meningkat sebesar 23,25. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengaruh metode NHT dengan pendekatan saintifik terhadap hasil dan keaktifan belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan dan berpengaruh sangat baik

Abstract

The students are hoped for understand the narrative text, but many students still find the difficulties in reaching the goal. Students face several problems when they read narrative text. Mostly, the students find the difficulty in orientation the text. This research aims to teach reading the ninth grade students’ narrative text in MTs Al Abror. The research was conducted in Class IX A. This study was an action research in the class. It was conducted in two meetings. The steps of the research were survey, planning, action and observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were 17 students of IX A class. The data collected were in the form of qualitative data. The qualitative data were gained from observation. The result of the research showed that the Comic Strips can use to teach narrative reading comprehension. In order to be successful in teaching reading a narrative text to junior high school students, teacher is suggested to be able to create an interesting and effective way. In writing this paper, the researcher expects the teacher to motivate the students in reading process by using comic strips in MTs Al-Abror. It is suggestions to the teacher to use this media for the students to initiate them to read more in this fun way.

Abstract

This research was aimed to analyze functions of the gerund found on the main character in the subtitle of “Thor” movie. Gerund is defined as the verb –ing functioning as a noun. This research was a kind of descriptive qualitative research viewed from the form of data. The main character of Thor movie, Thor Odinson, was the subject of this study. The instruments of this research were the researcher herself and the observation field note. All subtitle of Thor movie was the source of the data in this study. The data were the phrase (s) or sentence (s) containing the gerunds. In this research, there are some steps of data analysis namely: classification, description, and making conclusion. The researcher found three functions of gerund. Those functions were (1) gerund as subject consisting of 1 datum, (2) gerund as direct object consisting 11 data, and (3) gerund as subjective complement containing 23 data. It means that the researcher did not find a function of gerund called gerund as the object of preposition.

Abstract

This research is focused on the use of Team Games Tournament (TGT) in learning to read Narrative text in eleventh grade. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods. Eleventh grade science at MA Nurul Huda is the subject of this study. The data in this study were checklist data, student questionnaires, and videos of the TGT learning process. All activities during reading learning using the TGT method are the source of data in this study. The results showed that learning to read narrative texts using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning method can be done in eleventh grade. In addition, student responses to the use of the TGT method in learning to read narrative texts have many positive impacts for students, reinforced by the results of the questionnaire which showed 83% of students gave positive responses and 13% of students gave negative responses. The researcher gave some suggestions to 1) the English teacher to improvise the TGT learning model such as group discussions, 2) students to apply their understanding in the learning process.

Abstract

Writing is one of the abilities that is very important for students, because by writing students can convey the contents of their minds in written form, and by using video as a medium. Students find it easier to express their ideas. This research is focused to describe the application of using video media in writing procedure texts and to describe the responses of students writing procedure texts using video media. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The tenth grade of SMK Wijaya Sukodono is the subject of this study. The data in this study are checklist and questionnaire data and documentation during the learning process. All activities during the procedure text learning using video media are the source of data in this study. The results showed that learning to write tech procedures using video media can be done in the tenth grade of Wijaya Sukodono. In addition, student responses to the use of video media have many positive impacts for students, reinforced by the results of the questionnaire which showed 73% of students gave positive responses and 27% of students gave negative responses. Based on the results, the researcher found that video as a media could be applied in teaching writing very well especially teaching writing procedure texts. The researcher concludes that the video is suitable to be applied in teaching writing procedure texts for tenth grade students of SMK Wijaya Sukodono.

Abstract

Speaking is one of language skills that are able to used by students in teaching learning process. The teacher also used fishbowl strategy in teaching speaking explanation in which students are able to share their idea and opinion in this strategy. The purpose of the research was to describe the implementation of fishbowl strategy in teaching speaking explanation to the eleventh grade students at English course and to describe students’ responses in teaching speaking by using fishbowl strategy. The research was descriptive qualitative with the data collected from filed note observation, check list observation, questionnaire, and interview. The finding of the implementation of fishbowl strategy in teaching speaking explanation to eleventh grade students at English course was the teacher gave warming up, explained explanation text, made two groups, asked students to turn and talk their opinion and idea, got discussion started, told others students to listen carefully. When the small group finished, asked students to make comment on discussion in the first meeting and the second meeting. In students’ responses by using fishbowl strategy, the percentage showed the answer YES 92,7% and NO 7,3%. It was inferred that fishbowl strategy was able to help the students more active, communicative, and confident in speaking English. The students should be critical thinking in speaking explanation text, and the teacher should remind students to be more enthusiastic.

Abstract

Error analysis is an important area of second and foreign language learning. This research aimed to describe the types of error based on surface strategy taxonomy and causes of error on the use past tense in research method chapter in English students’ thesis. This research used the descriptive qualitative method to identify one or a few variables that intended to use in this research design. The data were taken from 5 English education students’ thesis of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo in year 2018 with the random sample. The research found errors result in the form of percentage were 18 or 16,5% errors found in omission, 21 or 19,3% errors found in addition, 69 or 63,3% errors found in misformation, and 1 or 0,9% errors found in misordering. Besides, the result found from the total causes of errors in the form of percentage were 75 or 96,2% causes of errors in overgeneralization, 0 or 0% causes of errors in neglecting the constraints of rules, 2 or 2,5% causes of errors in application of incomplete rules, and 1 or 1,3% causes of errors in hypothesis of the wrong concept. In conclusion, error analysis helped to know the students’ ability in understanding language learning, especially in writing research method chapter of thesis.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the common types of errors committed by the eleventh grades students of SMAN 1 Porong. Theoretically, this research intended to identify, classify, and explain the types of errors made by the students. In addition, this research aimed to find out the highest frequency of errors that had been found on analytical exposition written text made by the students. The method utilized in this research was descriptive qualitative research. The subject was 15 students of the eleventh grades students in SMAN 1 Porong. The data were collected by instructing the students to write analytical exposition text. The errors were classified using the theoretical of Dulay’s surface strategy taxonomy including omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. By analyzing the students’ analytical exposition written text, the total number of errors was 85 errors. The students committed error in all types: 30 omissions (35%), 21 addition (25%), 22 misformation (26%), and 12 misordering (14%). Hence, the highest frequency of errors on students’ analytical exposition written text is omission with 30 errors (35%). The frequency of students’ error happened because the students did not know well about the grammar or English structure rules that should be used in a sentence. Based on the findings and discussions of the result, the conclusion was many students still faced difficulties in the English structure rules. Due to the result of this research, the students needed to learn more about grammar to enhance their knowledge and decrease their errors in writing.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to describe the implementation of the teaching speaking by describing picture series on the facebook about students activities and to find out the students’ responses in teaching speaking by describing picture series on the facebook about students activities. The subjects of this research were the teacher and the students at the tenth grade. This research was descriptive qualitative with the data collected from field note observation, check list observation and questionnaire. The findings of teaching speaking by describing picture series on the facebook about students activities were: The first meeting, the teacher give warming up, explained recount text, asked student to describe pictures that already prepared by teacher with simple word and a few sentence. The second meeting, the students practice speaking using picture series that already uploaded on the facebook and they practice one by one in front of class. In this teaching process show the percentage answer YES 60% and NO 40%. It means the students had interested in learning teaching speaking by describing picture series on the facebook
