Abstract

Introduction: Student Centered Learning (SCL) is an effective method to develop student's soft skills and hard skills which are very important to support their successful carrier later. This research was conducted to identify the differences of developed soft skills between students who learn with PBL method and lecturing method. Methods: Descriptive comparative method was used in this study. The samples consisted of 15 students who learned with PBL method and 15 students who learned with lecturing method. The sample for this research was selected by random sampling method. Results: The result showed that the average of student's soft skills score in PBL method was 122.63, while student's soft skills score in lecturing method was 116.27. Discussion & Conclusion: There was significant difference of student's soft skills in PBL method and lecturing method (p value = 0.038; α = 0.05). This study recommends nursing program management, faculty of medicine at the University of Syiah Kuala keeps PBL method running and develops other methods which facilitate hard skills and soft skills are development. Keywords: nursing students, soft skill, PBL

Abstract

Introduction: The widely used social media by mobile-platform, which makes communication easier, faster, enhance effective flow of information. However, it may have the potential negative effect in quality of sleep in nursing students. The purpose of this study was to examined the impact of using social media and identified predictors of poor sleep quality among nursing students. Methods: A school-based survey design was conducted. Totally, 264 students at school of health sciences in West Java with usage social media platform were participated in this study. The extensive self-administered questionnaires were used to assess extent of using social media and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Logistic regression analysis by a backward-stepwise technique was used to determine predictors of poor sleep quality. Results: One out of two nursing students (59.5 %) used both Instagram and WhatsApp, mostly at nights (59.8%), and more than 4-hour daily (19.3%). Majority nursing students (94.3%) have poor quality of sleep. Quality of sleep was differed significantly in bachelor students (p=0.03) in 8th semester (p = 0.006). Younger nursing students (β = 0.025, p = 0.021, 95% CI 0.001-0.566) who use social media less than 3-month (β = .019, p = 0.001, 95% CI 0.002-0.212), mostly during weekends and in 8th semester (β = 41.32, p = 0.018, 95% CI 1.902-897.73) were predictor of poorer sleep quality. Conclusion: Findings indicated a strong need for integrating sleep quality education and provide health-education to promote correct and effective use of social networks to minimize possible side effects in nursing students.

Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge transfer through mobile application needs assessment   to develop a user-friendly technology. However, the means to measure the need is unavailable. An instrument was developed from the Joanna Briggs new model of EBP to examine the nurses’ needs. This study aims to examine the reliability and validity of knowledge transfer through mobile application needs questionnaire for nurses. Methods: The validity of the questionnaire was examined for its content with Content Validity Index (CVI). CVI was measured for its relevance, ambiguity, clarity and simplicity on each item (I-CVI) and scale (S-CVI). Content validity assessment forms and guidelines were given to six experts in nursing and computer sciences. Their suggestions contributed to the questionnaire revision. Subsequently, the online questionnaire was completed by 40 nurses randomly selected in a hospital in Depok City. Internal consistency was analyzed for the reliability. Results: The CVI of this questionnaire is high with mean of I-CVI and S-CVI at 0.96 relevance, 0.98 ambiguity, 0.97 clarity and 0.94 simplicity. Cronbach’s alpha shows that the internal consistency is acceptable (0.87). Conclusion: The questionnaire is content valid and reliable. This questionnaire can be used to measure those needs and contribute to the design of a user-friendly mobile application.

Abstract

Abstract The balance of body is one of the main factor in doing fungsional activity. In every activity, the body always need control of the body balance, because basically every phisic activity right static or dinamic will take someone on unstable position with big risk to having fell. Swiss Ball exercise as support is believed on labile surface will make spine have big chance to stabling the muscle between vebra and increase the dinamic balance to restrain the repeats stability. The research object to know The Effect of Swiss Ball Exercise toward The Body Balance to Less The Risk Fall of Older at UPT Social Service of Older and Children Under Five district Binjai and Medan in Year 2016. The research type is Quasi Experiment with pre test-post test one group only design method. Population in this research all of older at UPT Social Service district Binjai as much as 172 older with number of man is 81 and woman is 91, with Purposive sampling Technique that is 15 respondences. Data collecting using observation sheet with analysis that used is univariat: respondence characteristics, the body balance of older before and after doing Swiss Ball practice, and bivariat with Paired t-Test. The research result showing the average of body balance before doing Swiss Ball as much (Mean 38,07) and after (Mean 46,33). Conclusion: there is the effect of Swiss Ball toward body balance to less the risk fall of older (p=0,000 ; p=< 0,05). Sugessted for older to practice the balance himself more steady so that not easy to have risk fall further. Influenced, and for the next researcher can research about another factor that foregrounded the risk fall of older.Keywords    : Swiss Ball, Balance Exercise, Risk Fall

Abstract

Introduction: One of the effective communication methods in nursing services is the SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation). SBAR is an easy framework for communicating important information between health professionals in the hospital. This study aimed to describe the application of the SBAR method in nurse handovers between shifts. Methods: The research design used a cross-sectional approach. A total of 102 nurses involved in this study were selected by purposive sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire to evaluate perceptions, knowledge, attitudes, motivation, and application of the SBAR. The bivariate statistical test used Chi-square and the multivariate test used Multiple Logistic Regression. Results: The results showed that the p-value between the perception variables was (0.025 <0.05), knowledge (0.014 <0.05), attitude (0.034 <0.05), and motivation (0.037 <0.05). There was a significant relationship between perception, knowledge, attitude, motivation, and the application of the SBAR method. Conclusion: The dominant factor in applying the SBAR method is the attitude variable. The application of this method may be tested by enhancing the capacity of nurses in the hospital.

Abstract

Introduction. Types of nursing education in Indonesia are vocational, academic and professional. Professional education is higher education after an undergraduate program that prepares students to have jobs with specific skill requirements. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect student interest in continuing professional education nurses based on perception, motivation and support system. Method. The study design was a descriptive analytic cross-sectional approach. Unstratified sampling using random sampling with a sample of 111 respondents in health education institutions in karisidenan Banyumas, there are Harapan Bangsa Purwokerto Institute of Health Science, Purwokerto Muhammadiyah University, Jenderal Sudirman University.Data was analysed by using multivariate logistic regression. Results. The results of the study showed that no correlation  perception, motivation, and support system of nurses Profession election interest in health education institutions in-karisidenan Banyumas (p=0,999; 0,956; 0,135).Discussion. The most dominant factor affecting the interest of the nurse profession was support system.Keywords: interest, perception, motivation, support system, professional nurses

Abstract

Introduction: The number of new HIV case is increasing significantly in Indonesia as compared toother countries in South East Asia region. Unsafe sexual behaviors become the critical risk factors for HIV transmission and adolescent is one of the high-risk group of risky sexual behavior and using drug injection. However, few studies have been conducted to find out the effective intervention to reduce the risk of HIV transmission among adolescents in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of SASH program (Skills for adolescents with healthy sexuality in reducing the risk of HIV transmission among adolescents in Bandung. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was conducted at one of private high school in Bandung. The sample in this study were thirty students. Every participant completed a self-measure questionnaire of the Bahasa version, which consists of HIV-related knowledge, attitude, and behavior with 52 items. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis using a paired t-test. Results: Majority of them were female (76.7). We found that SAHS program significantly effective on increased the knowledge, attitude, and behavior of HIV transmission among adolescents  (p< 0.005) with mean different between pre-and post-test was 3.2, 2.19, and 1.98, respectively. Conclusions: SASH program is effective to improve knowledge, attitude, and behaviors towards HIV prevention among adolescents. Future researches are needed to improve the sustainability of the program, such as through the development of integrated peer-educator and to use technology as the delivery and promotion media.Key Words: Adolescents, HIV, Prevention, Sexual Behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Early marriage occurs in many countries worldwide, especially in Indonesia, one of the ten countries with the highest number of child marriages under 18. Lack of knowledge about the impact of early marriage, poor socioeconomic level, culture, and family history of early marriage are influencing factors, so there is a need for an intensive program involving policymakers and empowering youth to reduce the incidence of early marriage. Therefore, the study aimed to determine the effect of the community skills building program (CSBP) on the tendency to early marriage in adolescent girls in Tasikmalaya.Methods: Research was quasi-experimental pre-post-test with a control group. The population is all adolescent girls in one of the public junior high schools in the city of Tasikmalaya, with a sample of 60 respondents who were selected using consecutive sampling. The inclusion criteria are adolescent girls aged 10-18 years, healthy and unmarried, for the exclusion criteria are adolescent girls who have moved domicile. Data retrieval using questionnaires on the tendency of early marriage contained 47 valid and reliable data. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon signed ranks test and Mann Whitney u test.Results: The results of data analysis showed that p-value 0.000 < p-value 0.05, which indicates a significant influence of the community skills building program (CSBP) on the tendency to early marriage in adolescent girls.Conclusions: It can be concluded that the application of the community skill-building program (CSBP) can reduce the tendency of early marriage in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Introduction. Aging is a natural process in humans is accompanied by a decrease in the physical, psychological and social which interact with each other is known as the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Elderly Posyandu using Abraham Maslow hierarchy of the class system of the elderly independence. Method. The design of this study was quasy experiment with post-test only with control group design. Data collection was performed using the independence of elderly people who modifi ed checklist sheet of cards to health (KMS) elderly and then test hypothesis test using independent t test with signifi cance level 0.05. Results. Statistical analysis showed the independence of the elderly for the treatment group obtained a mean value of 75.4615 and 60.8462 of the control group. Normality test as a condition of the t test showed the two groups has a normal distribution so as to know the difference between the independence of elderly people treated group and the control group were tested using independent t test with p value = 0.001 results < α (0.05). There was a difference in elderly independence between the treatment and control groups. Discussion. Need for innovative program to improve the independence of the elderly through the integration of health services through Posyandu modifi ed by taking into account the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual based class Maslow hierarchy. Keywords: Elderly, Posyandu, independence, Maslow

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a disease whose transmission rates continue to increase. Tuberculosis treatment requires support from family, level knowledge and good self-efficacy because the minimum treatment period of 6 months makes TB clients need to be strengthened to be able to undergo complete treatment and successfully recover. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of the level of knowledge and family support with self-efficacy in tuberculosis patients at the Sawan I Community Health Center. Self-efficacy is an individual's belief in managing certain behaviors to achieve healing. Methods: This research is a correlation study with cross-sectional design. The samples used were 53 samples selected by nonprobability sampling with a purposive sampling design. The data collected through a questionnaire and obtained were tested with the Spearman rank test. From the correlation test with the Spearman rank test. Results: Correlation coefficient values indicate the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy (r = 0.450) and family support with self-efficacy (r = 0.555), which means there is a strong and positive relationship or the better the level of knowledge and family support for TB sufferers, the better the self-efficacy of TB sufferers. Conclussions: The level of knowledge and family support are very important to maintain the self-efficacy of tuberculosis patients.
