Abstract

In the industry era, especially the oil processing industry, the heat exchanger is needed to regulate temperature and produce oil products such as petroleum, kerosene and diesel fuel. In the operation, the heat exchanger requires maintenance, especially when the minor unit is shut down or stop and routine reparation. Maintenance is done by replacing the tubesheet that commonly referred to as bundle retube where there are pipe fritter to be cleaned, which are cutted at the time of maintenance. This maintenance is typically done in manual approach, which is not efficient in terms of time. For a more efficient maintanence, this paper proposes a prototype design to discard these pipes fritter by utilizing image processing method for detecting the edge of the circle and the position of the pipe fritter. Based on the experiments, it has been obtained that the test circle radius that can be captured is at 4 to 10 pixels. The longest time for positioning was 2.41 minutes and the whole process of disposal of this pipeline reaches 47.92 %.

Abstract

Cellular communication technology is experiencing rapid development with the arrival of 5G. This generation targets an increase in data rates and better capacity than the previous generation. MIMO is a technique that can be used to improve the performance of 5G communications. The frequency used this time is the middle frequency because it is considered more likely to be used as a 5G service frequency in Indonesia and has a larger coverage so as to save network development costs. In this study, the design and realization of a four-element MIMO antenna for 5G communication at a frequency of 3.5 GHz was carried out. The antenna used this time is a four-element MIMO antenna that has a monopole-based patch form which is then miniaturized so that the antenna has smaller dimensions. This design produces parameters, such as Return Loss on element one of -10.513 dB, for element two of -10.215 dB, for element three of -17.229 dB, and for element four of -14 dB. The value of element one is 1.84, element two is 1.31, element three is 1.31, and element four is 1.49. Bandwidth value ≥ 1500 MHz, and Mutual Coupling value ≤ -19.254 dB.

Abstract

The development of power electronics converters has been widespread in the industrial, commercial, and home applications. The device is considered to produce harmonics in non-linear loads. Harmonics cause a decrease in power quality in the electric power system. To prevent a decrease in power quality caused by harmonics in the power system, the detection of harmonics has an important role. Therefore, this paper proposed feed forward neural network (FFNN) for harmonic detection. The design of harmonic detection device is designed with a feed forward neural network method that it has two stages of information processing, namely the training stage and the testing stage. FFNN has input harmonics and THDi as output. To detect harmonics, frst training is conducted to recognize waveform patterns and calculate the fast fourier transform (FFT) process offline. Prototype using the AMC1100DUB current sensor, microcontroller and display. To validate the proposed algorithm, compared by standard measurement tool and FFT. The results show the proposed algorithm has good performance with the average percentage error compared by standard measurement tool and FFT of 5.33 %.

Abstract

Many industrial applications use servo motor because of its accuracy and user-friendly, but by using it in an application, a higher cost is required.  To make an actuator with good precision and universal purpose but with lower cost, a position control system for brushless dc motor was built. To achieve a better precision in the position control for brushless DC motor, the system is utilized with a microcontroller ATmega 2560, an absolute encoder as a position sensor, and also Proportional-Derivative closed-loop control algorithm. In the final test, we obtained that the system worked well on average angular speed about 3.88º/ms and angle tolerance about 1º.

Abstract

This paper discusses design of a suhue control monitoring system in stirred tank heater system that has an important function in industrial processes. Monitoring of suhue control system in stirred tank heater is designed using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) that control function of industrial processes. While the actuator to be controlled is the position of burner openings, so that the heat can be adjusted to meet a predetermined set-point. The suhue controller that is also used as a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) is Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The testing result showed on SCADA system was quite good, where the average percentage of deviation for testing of set-point data was 0.76687%, and the percentage of deviation for testing of suhue data was 0.082%.

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept where all products can interact with each other to help human activities by utilizing the internet. The IoT system can help solve problems such as the schedule-based retrieval system at a temporary shelter in Indonesia. This paper creates a web-based geographic information system along with the IoT-based waste temporary shelter prototype. The prototype also integrated with an Arduino Microcontroller so that it can sort the waste automatically into three types of waste, then record data in the form of height and weight, and send the results of the data to the database so that the geographic information system can display the results of the data. Node-RED serves as an Application Programming Interface (API) that sends data from the server to the database belonging to a web-based geographic information system. The results of the performance analysis are that the prototype has sorted waste well, and the system also produced good QoS by ETSI standards when looking at the network traffic from the MQTT server to the database, and from the end-user to the web. As for the QoE results for tools and systems have produced good results according to the ITU-T standard.

Abstract

In medical physics, the simulation of radiation dose distribution in the body of radiotherapy patients is generally carried out using the Monte Carlo method. But in conducting this simulation, medical physicists are often faced with the incompatibility problems of phantom geometry with simulation needs. Phantom ORNL-MIRD is the most commonly used phantom in simulation. In a radiotherapy simulation, cancer cells are usually only assumed to be in the phantom’s body without any concrete form. This can cause the administration of radiation doses that are not right on cancer cells. Phantom ORNL-MIRD is also only composed of three materials, namely bone, lung, and the rest are considered as soft tissue. This certainly provides inappropriate simulation results, especially in the case of breast cancer radiotherapy where the breast is composed of adipose tissue. This study aims to make ORNL_MIRD phantom modelling suitable for the needs of Monte Carlo simulations of breast cancer patients. The phantom modification will be carried out on the soft tissue structure of the breast and the structure of the skin tissue. Cancer cells with a diameter of 2 cm were also added to the left breast at a depth of 2.5 cm. The γ rays from radionuclide 60Co with the energy of 1.1732 MeV and 1.3325 MeV and the probabilities of 0.989 and 0.998, respectively, were exposed to the phantom. The simulation results show that there are significant differences before and after modification. Absorption dose values in the breast with a soft tissue without tumour cells were 0.31 mGy with a relative error of 0.0023, while the absorbency dose rate in the breast with soft tissue and tumour cells was 0.2 mGy with a relative error of 0.0023.

Abstract

Convolutional encoder sudah lama digunakan dalam dunia sistem komunikasi digital, bahkan sistem komunikasi digital modern masih menggunakan encoder tersebut. Prinsip convolutional encoder merupakan proses yang digunakan untuk menambah redundansi pada aliran sinyal yang masuk. Perancangan convolutional encoder banyak yang menggunakan rancangan finite state machine dan sudah berupa intelectual property (IP) core. IP core tersebut sangat membantu perancang perangkat keras jaringan dalam menganalisa dan merancang aplikasi sistem jaringan dalam pengiriman dan penerimaan data. Paper ini memaparkan implementasi field programmable gate array (FPGA) untuk membuat convolutional encoder. Prinsip yang digunakan dalam paper ini adalah merancang convolutional encoder menggunakan komponen pada tingkat register transfer logic (RTL). Komponen yang digunakan dalam rancangan adalah register geser (shift register), penjumlah (adder) dan mutiplekser. Hasil sintesis yang diperoleh dalam FPGA Spartan-3E untuk mengimplementasikan convolutional encoder (2, 1, 8) mengkonsumsi komponen 3 slices, 6 slice flip-flop, 4 4-input LUT, 4 IO, 4 bonded IOB dan 1 GCLK, sedangkan waktu yang diperlukan untuk memproses data masukan pada convolutional encoder berbasis FPGA sebesar 6,07ns.

Abstract

Inter-school teacher exchange has a significant role in achieving good and equitable quality of education. This has become the focus of North Sulawesi’s regional education office, particularly in the city of Manado at the level of the vocational high School (SMK). Inter-school teacher exchange, which still works on the basis of Microsoft Excel manually, is an obstacle to transparent and objective decision-making. Decision Support Systems (DSS) can be a solution to these problems. In this study, the Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighing (F-SAW) method was used for a web-based DDS. This test is carried out on five sample data through calculations using Ms. Excel and the DSS system with the acquisition of  decision values of 0.91 and 0.93, respectively.

Abstract

Home electronic devices, such as lights, fans, and etcetera are now an inseparable part from the daily life of current society. However, these devices are often used in a wasteful manner. A room light, for example, is often still lit even though it is no longer used. Therefore, a home automation system that can help users to monitor and switch their electronic devices remotely through a user interface must be designed. This research resulted in the design of home automation systems using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) which were used to switch the electronic devices and communicate with the user interface. Communication between WSN and the user interface was regulated through the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. The results of this study were a design of home automation systems that can switch electronic devices remotely with an average delay performance of 0.509 seconds. The quality of the designed WSN was classified as "good" using the Telecommunications and Internet Protocol Harmonization Over Networks (TIPHON) standards, where the round-trip time (RTT) gateway with a latency value was 16.452 ms, jitter was 6.618 ms, and packet loss was 0%.
