Abstract

The potential for agriculture and plantations in Amongrogo Village, Limpung District, Batang Regency is enormous. This is because the majority of the people of Amongrogo Village work as farmers and agricultural land in the village is categorized as productive land. Based on the existing conditions, the community needs education about the importance of growing medicinal plants for daily life. The function of medicinal plants can meet the needs of traditional medicine for the community. The activity of planting medicinal plants is by utilizing vacant land as a place for planting. The benefit of this activity is to increase public knowledge about the importance of medicinal plants. Planting of medicinal plants is done using polybag media. The selection of this medium is based on planting through polybags does not require a large area of land and is quite affordable. From the community service activities that have been carried out, the community can see how to grow medicinal plants and understand the importance of medicinal plants for everyday life and can apply them in their respective environments.

Abstract

Many used goods that are not utilized can contribute to the production of more and more waste. Students at partner schools are not used to using used materials for science learning media. This causes students to be unable to apply theory in science in everyday life which makes students' scientific literacy in partner schools still lacking. The difficulties of students in partner schools in learning science are possible because students do not know scientific phenomena that occur in everyday life and students are not introduced to science practices. Through the management of used goods into simple science tools, it is hoped that they can be used as learning media for students in partner schools. The method used in this activity is lecture, discussion, and practice. This activity was carried out for 3 meetings at each partner. These activities included delivering materials and making simple science teaching aids using used materials. Making simple science tools from used goods makes students learn about science. It also teaches students to take advantage of used goods in the surrounding environment, so that indirectly they can also maintain the environmental sustainability. The obstacle found in this activity was the limited time needed to make science teaching aids.

Abstract

Building maintenance is an activity to maintain the reliability of the building and its infrastructure and facilities so that the building is always fit for function. A consistent building maintenance period has become a requirement that must be met, especially for buildings that are used commercially. As one part of the construction process, post-construction building maintenance has an important role to ensure the life of building construction. Lack of understanding of work methods, procedures, standardization of maintenance, and equipment used for maintenance activities of building elements also affects the age of building construction. This activity aims to carry out building maintenance in the form of repainting the meeting hall building to provide comfort and safety for the community, both for housing or residence, religious activities, business activities, social and cultural activities, and other special activities. The method used is in the form of socialization and direct practice of painting meeting halls. The result of this community service activity is that it has finished repainting the meeting hall of the Muktiharjo Kidul Village, Pedurungan District, Semarang City so that it looks more beautiful and comfortable.

Abstract

Community Service Program (KKN) is the real evidence of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely in the aspect of community service. Through KKN activities in Buayan Village, it is hoped that there will be synergy between universities and the community as a form of community empowerment towards a post-Covid-19 pandemic based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The purpose of this activity is to help increase the understanding and ability of Bina Sejahtera Buayan village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) managers in promoting the potential of tourism villages through social media. In addition, this activity is also expected to expand the promotion of top products of the village so that they can support village tourism and increase the village s original income (PADes). Community service activities based on the KKN work program are carried out offline by providing digital branding training to village officials and BUMDes managers in promoting and publicizing the tourism potential of Langen Ujung Baths in Buayan Village, Buayan District, Kebumen Regency. In addition, visits and assistance are also carried out to promote UMKM products through social media to support the existence of this tourist village.

Abstract

The impact of Covid-19 was felt from various sectors including MSMEs. One of them is Kripik Singkong Lancar Mandiri MSMEs in Dongos Village. The problem faced by partners is the monotony of production and management systems for selling goods. The purpose of this community service is to increase understanding and application of science and technology in society (mechanization, IT, and management) and to increase competitiveness (increasing the quality, quantity, and value of resources). The method of implementing community service includes (1) the preparation stage, the activities carried out are problem identification and data collection; (2) the implementation stage, the activities carried out are the process of training and mentoring; (3) the evaluation stage; and (4) preparation of reports stage. The results of this community service show that there is an increase in understanding and application of science and technology in society (mechanization, IT, and management) and there is an increase in competitiveness (increasing the quality, quantity, and value of resources).

Abstract

Mosques are one the public facilities that have a role as houses of worship for muslims. In addition, the mosque also functions as a center for community activities such as a place for celebrating big days, discussions, studies, seminars, lectures, and training as a center for religious learning for the community. To increase the role and function of the mosque as well as an effort to increase the capacity or capacity of worshippers, the mosque prosperity council (DKM) plans to renovate the construction of mosque. The existing condition of the mosque currently has supporting facilities, but it is considered inadequate with a limited capacity of worshippers. In addition, physically the existing mosque building is quite simple, so carrying out renovations requires careful planning. The purpose of this community service (PkM) of Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Semarang is to assist DKM in making a renovation plan design for the construction of the As-Syuhada Mosque. The output of this mentoring activity is in the form of submitting design drawings of the 2 floors mosque building including detailed structural drawings, as well as 3D drawings and calculation of the cost budget plan (RAB). The drawings and RAB of the renovation work for the construction of the As-Shahada Mosque that had been approved were then used as guidelines for carrying out work in the field.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to strengthen the added value of each student through the ability to read and write academic and non-academic articles. Community service methods through tutorials, workshops, and assignments which are synergized with life skills teaching and extracurricular activities at SMAN 2 Mranggen. The service team, which consists of lecturers and students, works together by conducting training and supporting SMAN 2 Mranggen students in designing writing frameworks, creating writings, and publishing them in competitions, media, and newspapers. Considering the new normal situation after the COVID-19 pandemic, training can be carried out face-to-face with the PKM Team and training participants. In carrying out the training, we have coordinated together according to the time and place that has been determined. way of thinking, perspective, and behavior of SMAN 2 Mranggen students to participate individually and in groups in environmentally friendly activities to create an efficient and responsible lifestyle for the future. It can be concluded that this PKM activity has created a foundation of learning experiences and skills that enable students to describe their thoughts in a clear, sequential, logical language, taught practical ways of writing KTI, and detailed in the educational process of secondary education and then in higher education. Provides benefits if it is introduced in high school.

Abstract

In building infrastructure, cost calculations are needed, organized in the form of a Budget Plan (RAB) according to government standards. The RAB provides an overview of the total cost required for building infrastructure or construction projects. Additionally, the RAB calculations can also determine the need for building materials, the number of workers required, and the duration of the project. This Community Service program aims to provide knowledge and new skills to the community on how to calculate the Budget Plan (RAB) for building both private homes and community infrastructure, such as meeting halls, neighborhood watch posts, water channels, and so on. The implementation method begins with interviews to assess understanding of creating an RAB, followed by socializing the benefits of making an RAB, training, and practical exercises on how to calculate the RAB. Subsequent steps include monitoring and evaluating the results of the calculations. This Community Service program equips the community with the skills to calculate the RAB for infrastructure development, better understand the volume of work calculations, determine material prices or unit prices for work, and prevent cost overruns during the construction phase.

Abstract

The climate, weather, and rainfall conditions that occur in the Meteseh Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City, especially in the Bukit Kencana Jaya area, are quite high during the rainy season. As a result of housing developments that may not consider the problem of drainage properly, some places experience soil erosion. Based on the results of observations at the location, it was shown that there were several points of the water channel that were damaged. This condition can cause blockage or overflow of water when the intensity of rain increases due to disruption of the water channel. If a puddle occurs, it can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes that have the potential to cause disease. It is necessary to repair the water channel to restore its function of the water channel. The implementation method starts with a field survey, then socializes the repair and maintenance of waterways, and direct practice of repairing damaged waterways. The repair was carried out by replacing the base of the canal using a U-40 cm concrete pipe and plastering on the sides so that the water channel would not experience erosion and could function properly again.

Abstract

Writing skills have not been mastered by many students in higher education. Writing can be a means of conveying ideas in a rational, critical, and effective manner. Students can express ideas in the form of academic writing, such as essays. Essays can make students think critically, logically, and systematically. The purpose of this activity is to provide training in academic essay writing to new students of the 2023 Vocational Faculty of Yogyakarta State University. This activity is conducted online through lecture and discussion methods. The service team comes from the Research Student Activity Unit of the Vocational Faculty of Yogyakarta State University. Several participants asked questions and were enthusiastic about expressing their ideas. This training is considered successful and smooth, receiving positive responses from the participants. This training has helped vocational students at Yogyakarta State University to understand the rules of essay writing and to increase student's interest and enthusiasm in generating creative and innovative ideas.
