Abstract

Diapers waste generated by residents of RT 04 and RT 08/ RW 07 Sendangguwo Village, Semarang City has a large amount. Diapers waste is difficult to decompose by soil microbes. The decomposition process takes up to hundreds of years. The amount of diapers waste is quite large and disposed of anywhere can have a negative impact on the environment. Diapers waste can be used to make useful products. The absorbent gel can be used as plant fertilizer. The gel is very good at absorbing water so it can retain soil moisture and become nutrients for plants. However, not many people know about the impact of diapers waste and do not know that diapers waste can be made into useful products. It is necessary to provide knowledge about the negative impacts of diapers waste which can pollute the environment. Then it was continued with training on diaper waste management to become plant fertilizer for residents in the Sendangguwo Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City. The implementation method used is by giving socialization and hands-on practice regarding the stages of processing diapers waste into plant fertilizer. The results of the training were in the form of plant fertilizer products from diapers waste which were then packaged in plastic containers and then handed over to the community.

Abstract

Gogodalem Village is one of the regions of Bringin District, Semarang Regency, which has natural conditions in the form of cliffs and ravines because it is located on a plateau. Some of the cliffs are still rock and soil so they are prone to landslides when rainfall is high. This became the basis for carrying out the University of Semarang Community Service Program (KKN) in the form of building stone sheet piles on the cliffs of Plataran-Kauman Roads in East Gogodalem Hamlet. The choice of location was based on the high level of landslide risk and the road is the main access to Plataran and Kauman Hamlets. The activity implementation method starts from the coordination and socialization stage, then the volume calculation and budget plan, and the last stage is the implementation of construction work. A fee of Rp. 5,728,500.00 is needed to complete the construction work. This activity has been carried out properly and smoothly, so it is hoped that it can reduce the occurrence of land shifts due to high rainfall which can cause landslides on cliffs that close roads and disturb residents who will pass through these roads.

Abstract

The condition of most science teachers in the Grobogan District has not been optimal in utilizing digital technology in the learning process. Training is a form of activity chosen by the school superintendent to guide science teachers in Grobogan in collaboration with subject-teacher deliberations (MGMP). The purpose of this best practice is to describe the implementation, results, and impact of digital-based training are a surefire way "Patih Bersidig Cartu" to improve the competence of natural science teachers in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The delivery of training materials is carried out using the blended learning method, namely face-to-face and online. In addition to receiving material, participants also work on assignments through google classroom. The results of Patih Bersidig Cartu to improve the competence of natural science teachers in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 including teachers can make presentation media in the form of videos; teachers can create interactive learning media with classpoints; teachers can create online learner worksheets (LKPD), learning poster media, learning infographic media, learning comics, presentation media, and digital books, learning videos by utilizing canva for education in natural science materials in grades 7, 8, and 9.

Abstract

The world of education is one of the sectors that has been affected and has undergone drastic changes in teaching and learning activities from face-to-face to online. The activities that students must participate in, namely the student study service (KKN), must also be carried out independently around their environment. In the current pandemic situation, teenagers in the village have much free time that can be filled with beneficial activities and increase knowledge and abilities, so it is necessary to carry out additional skills training. This KKN is a community service activity carried out by one of the students of the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Semarang is conducting basic SketchUp software training for teenagers in RT.04 RW.01 Pepe Village, Tegowanu District, Grobogan Regency. KKN students conduct training by making videos to explain the material and doing hands-on practice from house to house with several teenagers in the village. The teenagers seemed enthusiastic and interested in the software used and in the world of civil engineering and architecture. The activity went smoothly and provided benefits in increasing knowledge and abilities after training.

Abstract

In the field of regional and urban planning, several media can be used to convey information about the problems of an area. The most commonly used medium is using maps. The analysis carried out to present information in the form of maps varies according to needs. To represent and present flood and tidal information in the coastal area of Semarang City, 3D modeling training was conducted using ArcScene 10.4 software, which is part of ArcGIS software. This modeling is carried out by utilizing DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data and data on the addition of water discharge in coastal areas which will then be processed and simulated in the 3-dimensional form that can be watched in video form. It is hoped that this community service in the form of training can provide further knowledge and understanding regarding mapping activities so that it can be applied in student learning and research activities. So second-semester students of the Urban and Regional Planning Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Semarang have a basic understanding of planning and a more sensitive to urban issues and how to do the right analysis according to the goals and needs of urban planning.

Abstract

The people of Kuwaron Village, especially residents of RT.01 RW.04, have recently had problems of environmental damage, namely floods during the rainy season and drought during the dry season. The impact is the reduction of water catchment areas around the houses of residents of Kuwaron Village RT.01 RW.04. The purpose of this activity is to provide insight and skills regarding applying appropriate techniques for porous infiltration holes. In the hope of increasing groundwater reserves, reducing inundation, and accelerating water infiltration in residents' yards. The bio-pore-making training involved several residents of Kuwaron Village. Bio pores are made with a diameter of 10 cm and a depth of 100 cm. Then, the hole filled with organic kitchen waste. That is expected to reduce organic kitchen waste from each house because porous infiltration holes containing garbage invite various soil fauna and form pores to increase groundwater infiltration. The results of the evaluation of bio pores installation for four weeks showed that the rain puddles in the residents' yards receded faster.

Abstract

Kampung Baru Village is one of the villages in Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City. Has a Posyandu Mekar Kuntum Smell Fragrant. Posyandu functions are explained by partners for continuous monitoring of public health. Currently, posyandu still has simple facilities and infrastructure. To encourage people to feel comfortable when they are there, it is necessary to add facilities and infrastructure, namely by installing ceilings and dividing curtains. The purpose of this community service is to assist partners in making planning designs and cost budget plans (RAB) for ceiling renovations and curtain installation. The method used is the counseling method. The output of this activity is a planning drawing and the type of ceiling and curtain used and the RAB for installing the ceiling and curtain. The installed ceiling is a type of gypsum with a volume of 45 m2. For blinds that are installed made of soft and not transparent. Assisting with the installation of the posyandu ceiling and curtain.

Abstract

The existence of scientific journals is fundamental as a place for the publication of scientific articles for academics to show the results of their research work. Along with the development of technology and information, it demands the management of online-based journals for the convenience and transparency of the articles in them. Management of journals with an online system is still not fully understood by academics in several institutions. As one of the universities located not far from UIN Walisongo Semarang, Selamat Sri University (UNISS) Kendal has sufficient resources and according to needs to be a place for community service activities to be carried out with the theme of assisting in the management of online journals based on the Open Journal System (OJS). The purpose of this assistance is to introduce online scientific journal management using the OJS system at UNISS. The method used is lectures and hands-on practice regarding online journal management. The results of this community service activity are knowing information about the availability of infrastructure, articles, Human Resources (HR), and regulations that support the start of managing online journals using OJS. In addition, understanding and awareness of the need to have online journals for the benefit of scientific publications for researchers or academics are also obtained which is the requirement as stated in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology today makes people adapt. In the field of education, especially in the field of engineering drawing design, several computer programs have been very helpful in completing work with good results. Human resources are needed who are willing to learn and able to adapt to technological advances so that they can run computer programs optimally. For high school students who are interested in continuing their education in engineering at the university, skills in using computer programs will be very helpful. Therefore, the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Semarang carries out community service, especially for students of SMA Kesatrian 2 Semarang, namely "Training for Introduction of 2D AutoCAD for Students at SMA Kesatrian 2, Semarang Kesatrian Education Foundation". This training is carried out to provide an introduction to skills in technical drawing with computer programs for high school students so that they can complement the knowledge learned at school. The method used is to do tutorials and practice directly in the Planning Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Semarang. The number of participants in this activity was 25 students. The activity was carried out on August 19, 2019, at the Planning Laboratory of the USM Faculty of Engineering. The students are mostly able to follow the theory and exercises given in this training module.

Abstract

The increasing consumption value of urban communities in meeting their daily needs is a contributor to the increasing amount of waste that must be disposed of. Household waste cannot be considered small in terms of the capacity of waste contributors to the environment. The problems faced by partners, namely residents of RT 01 RW 03 of Pidodowetan Village, Patebon District, Kendal Regency, are mainly related to sorting, separating, handling, and managing household waste. A strategic handling of waste management is needed. The government has taken various actions toward handling and managing waste, it's just that it hasn't touched the lowest level of handling, namely household waste. The purpose of community service activity is to provide training and outreach to the community to be able to sort waste and recognize types of waste that have economic value so that they can be saved in a waste bank, and only types of residue may enter the Final Processing Site (TPA). The implementation method used is in the form of lectures as well as discussions and direct practice with partners. In this activity, the results showed that there was a change, some members of the community were able to sort household waste. Partners do not experience significant obstacles because they have received provisions in counseling related to the sorting and economic use of waste, both organic and inorganic waste. In the future, it is expected to make the cleanliness of the surrounding residential environment better.
