Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is a journal on Faculty of Education. Jurnal JERKIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai. The journal is registered with E-ISSN: 2961-9890. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is published four times a year in September, December, March and June. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan receives 50 articles per issue. The journal publishes articles in mathematics education including teaching and learning, instruction, curriculum development, learning environments, teacher education, educational technology, educational developments, from many kinds of research such as survey, research and development, experimental research, classroom action research, etc.

Abstract

Sasaran pelatihan dalam kegiatan penulisan artikel ilmiah ini adalah guru-guru SMA/MA dan SMK di Kota Bengkalis. Guru-guru SMA/MA dan SMK di Kota Bengkalis masih kesulitan dalam menulis artikel ilmiah dan mencari jurnal-jurnal yang akan dirujuk sebagai referensi berdasarkan hasil wawancara. Tujuan kegatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk melakukan pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah bagi guru-guru, khususnya guru sekolah menengah atas baik SMA/MA dan SMK di Kota Bengkalis. Metode penerapan dengan 3 (tiga) tahapan yaitu: (1) persiapan, (2) pelaksanaan dan (3) pelaporan. Hail kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa dari lima pernyataan yang diajukan semua peserta memberikan respon sangat puas 85,88 %, dan puas 14,12 %. Selain itu peserta menyarankan beberapa hal antara lain : (1) waktu pelaksanaan pelatihan lebih lama, (2) pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dilakukan secara berkesinambungan, (3) terbentuknya forum karya ilmiah bagi gur; serta (4) pelibatan akan jumlah guru dari mata pelajaran dan satuan pendidikan lainnya perlu ditambahkan. Dengan demikian maka perlu untuk dilakukan kembali kegiatan pelatihan penulisan artikel ini di tahun depan dengan durasi yang lebih lama.

Abstract

This community service investigates the impact of Wattpad, a social media platform, on students' interest, creativity and digital literacy within the framework of the digital literacy movement. Results show that Wattpad positively influences students' engagement in reading and writing, offering a space for aspiring writers to showcase their ideas and fostering constructive communication between writers and readers. Wattpad's digital literacy potential is clear in its aspirations as a digital service provider, helping students access diverse literary content and resources. This study emphasizes the need for careful management of content to conform to moral and literacy standards. Wattpad has tremendous promise as a digital literacy tool, especially in educational settings. Integrating Wattpad into formal education curricula can offer deep literacy experiences, foster creativity, critical thinking, and meet the needs of the ever-evolving modern digital world. In conclusion, this research underscores the importance of digital literacy in the current era and positions Wattpad as a valuable tool for developing literacy skills, creativity, and fostering a love for reading and writing among students.

Abstract

The implementation of training programs aimed at students, instructors and the school community while at the Islamic boarding school is the main subject of this research. The program efficiently promotes healthy lifestyle choices such as quitting smoking, washing hands with soap, eating healthy snacks, exercising regularly, eliminating mosquito larvae, and disposing of trash properly. Through a variety of techniques, including discussion, debate, practical exercises, and assessments, the program effectively disseminates knowledge and ensures that it is put to use. Santriwan are considered agents of change who promote good behavior and advance public health. In summary, this study highlights the effectiveness of training programs in improving scabies prevention and highlights their potential to serve as a model for broader public health campaigns. More than just spreading knowledge, the project's primary goal is to promote behavior change by giving Santriwan the tools they need to make healthy lifestyle choices, have a positive impact on their environment, and improve the overall health of the community.

Abstract

This community activity attempts to enhance student discipline at the primary school level through a holistic strategy that engages kids, teachers, parents and the surrounding community. Starting with a successful opening seminar which introduced the concept of discipline as the main foundation in forming student character, this program continued with an interactive workshop which provided in-depth understanding and special training for teachers in integrating discipline habits into everyday learning. Involving parents and community people through discussion forums, this program enables successful collaboration between the school environment and the local community. Program evaluations reveal better understanding and good changes in student conduct. The closing seminar as the final event of the program provides an opportunity to present concrete outcomes, successful experiences and future visions. This community activity not only meets the goal of enhancing student discipline, but also fosters a communal commitment to maintain the culture of discipline that has been successfully developed. The outcomes not only have an influence at the school level, but also provide a successful model that may be replicated by other educational institutions in an effort to improve student discipline and the overall quality of basic education
