European Journal of Higher Education and Academic Advancement is an open-access, peer-reviewed international journal that offers comprehensive coverage of theoretical and empirical studies of higher education in Europe, comparative research within Europe, and comparisons between European and non-European higher education. Building on the successful legacy of its predecessor, Higher Education in Europe, EJHEAA is establishing itself as one of the flagship journals in the study of higher education and specifically in the study of European higher education. The journal accepts original research articles and proposals for special issues. We strongly recommend that authors consult back issues of EJHEAA for examples of topics of interest to our readership and to ensure that your proposed article is in conversation with any prior articles in the same topic area published in EJHEAA or other higher education journals. The articles that are part of a special issue do not all necessarily have to have an explicit European focus as long as the overall theme of the special issue fits the scope of this journal.

Abstract

The article is defined by the concrete results of the research that is translation of realia from English into Uzbek and vice versa. The translation of realia is one of great and important problems of transference of national and historical peculiarities, which ascend to the very conception of theory of translation as independent discipline. Not setting ourselves a target to give a historical survey we bring only some facts and names connected with the elaboration of this problem in translation. The results can be used in the lectures of translation, lexicology, and stylistics and in practical lessons of English. The aim of this article is to give a complete and through description of the realia and work out the ways of transferring them in the process of translation.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the educational unit's performance using electronic thinking maps in achievement and developing analytical thinking among two groups 30 students each, at grade 3 of the College of Education as compared to normal conventional teaching methods. The grade averages were compared between the two experimental groups (P≤0.05) in 2022-2023. The two groups were assessed for variables (chronological age - intelligence - previous knowledge, pre-analytical thinking test), and research requirements were prepared. Necessary, represented by the scientific material, its topics, behavioural objectives, and teaching plans for each group. The research tools included the achievement and the analytical thinking test. data was processed statistically using the statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS). The result showed that the experimental group studied according to proposed educational units using electronic thinking maps showed significantly higher evaluation in terms of achievement and developing analytical thinking than the students of the control group that studied according to the usual method. In light of the research results, using electronic thinking maps for curricula and teaching methods is highly recommended to be taught in colleges of education in Iraq. Thus, teachers would be more satisfied as using necessity of diversity in the use of modern teaching strategies and educational techniques. That will emphasize the positive role of the student in the learning process. This type of thinking maps can be successfully used in teaching curricula and teaching methods that could be suggested to other colleges and institutes of education.

In order to allow the reader to empathize with the character and understand how complicated the psychological characters are, the author of this review attempts to convey this ambivalence in an intuitive manner

Abstract

The primary characteristics of 21st-century learning emphasize the importance of digital literacy in preparing individuals to manage information, collaborate, and adapt to rapid changes in the digital society. A project-based digital literacy learning model is crucial as it equips students with necessary skills to navigate effectively in an increasingly interconnected digital world through authentic projects integrating digital technology, enabling them to learn, innovate, collaborate, and communicate effectively in a continually evolving global context. This development study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective "SCIENCE" Digital Literacy Learning Model based on project approaches. The research method employed is the 4D R&D model (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination). This study was conducted at SMP Advent 5 Kairagi Weru, Grade VIII, Second Semester of the Academic Year 2023/2024. Research instruments used include interviews, observations, questionnaire surveys, and achievement tests. Data analysis techniques utilized descriptive statistics. Based on the research findings, the validity test results of the project-based "SCIENCE" digital literacy learning model were categorized as valid with a percentage of 88.89%. Practicality assessment based on teacher questionnaire responses indicated a very practical category with a percentage of 91.67%, while student questionnaire analysis also indicated a very practical category with a percentage of 94.46%. The effectiveness test results were categorized as highly effective with a percentage of 88%. In conclusion, it can be inferred that the "SCIENCE" Digital Literacy Learning Model meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This research aims to describe variations of the Mongondow language among the younger generation in Pangian using sociolinguistic studies. This research uses the listening and professional method to examine language variations by listening to spoken symbols in the language and understanding the meaning of the communication that has been conveyed. The source of data obtained is primary data collected through direct observation. The data collection techniques used in the listening method are observation, recording and note-taking, then in the professional method using fishing techniques and face-to-face techniques. The data analysis used is a matching technique to analyze language by using language as a reference. Then, from the data that has been found, data classification and data presentation will be carried out informally. This research was carried out from April to May 2023 in Pangian Bersatu village. The results of this research show that the use of the Mongondow language among the younger generation in Pangian Bersatu village is still inherent. This is based on variations in ideolect, dialect, chronolect and sociolect used by the younger generation in Pangian Bersatu village in daily conversation with language styles that vary according to the speech acts used in each area in Pangian Bersatu village. These findings provide an overview of how the Mongondow language varies and provides benefits for educational institutions as a reference for research on language variations as well as sociolinguistic studies as the science of studying language and the social interactions of its people.

Abstract

This research uses a hypothesis test of one-way analysis of covariance or one-way ANCOVA to measure the respective effects of using the integration of the PBL model with OIDDE on socioscientific decision making skills. Before testing the hypothesis, prerequisite tests must be carried out, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. The use of this test is assisted by SPSS 23 for Windows software. The conclusion of this research is that the integration of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with the OIDDE (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, and Engage In Behavior) learning model has a real influence on improving students' Socioscientific Decision Making skills with a sig. 0.001 > 0.005 and the highest corrected mean value was 86.21
