Abstract

This research was conducted at SDN Inpres Depapre Jayapura Regency with the aim of assisting elementary school teachers in solving word problems in learning mathematics using a Problem Solving approach. The subjects in this study were 6 teachers from SDN Inpres Depapre and 3 teachers from SD YPK Amai Depapre. This activity was carried out using the lecture method and direct accompaniment using cooperative learning methods, interactive collaborative between facilitators and elementary school teachers through a comprehensive study of learning. Training activities include giving general explanations from the facilitator then followed by practice activities discussing story problems with Problem Solving, then given the opportunity for teachers to practice solving story problems accompanied by the facilitator. The next stage is reflection and evaluation of the results that have been done. After carrying out this training activity, the training participants (teachers of SDN Inpres Depapre, Jayapura Regency) were very motivated and enthusiastic in developing their ability to solve math problems by applying a Problem Solving approach.

Abstract

Higher Education always strives to progress and develop in order to maintain its reputation and improve the achievements to be achieved. One indication of quality writing is related to the element of plagiarism which often occurs due to a person's lack of knowledge about citation techniques or how to do citations. Therefore, students must be given an explanation on how to make good citations in order to produce good and quality scientific work for publication in national/international journals. In managing references sourced from books or journals, this can be done using several available software/applications, such as Mendeley, Endnote, Zootero and others. The existence of software such as Mendeley can be used to assist in writing citations, enabling authors to process reference documents they have. Based on the results of the implementation of the activity, it can be seen that there was an increase in the knowledge and abilities of the participants regarding the Mendeley Application before and after the training. However, in terms of the ability to install applications on laptops and Ms. Word and using the Mendeley application to make a bibliography of some participants were not fully mastered (100%), so they had to be assisted and directed even though the training had been completed.

Abstract

The teacher's knowledge and skills in using the dictionary as a learning reference are important. For example, in preparing teaching materials for students, teachers need to master the material to be taught. This includes knowing what the words in the text mean, how to say the words, and how to use them. By knowing the sound symbols in the dictionary and continuing to practice using them, teachers will be more prepared and confident in preparing material and presenting it to students. This is the background of this training. The training activities were carried out for one day with discussion and exercise methods. The activity was held at SMA Negeri 1 Sentani and was attended by 12 teachers from schools in Jayapura Regency. The survey results at the beginning of the training showed that most of the teachers did not know how to read sound symbols in a dictionary and had never heard the term sound symbol before. After this training the participants can sound sound symbols and are given some references to be able to continue practicing after the activity is over.

Abstract

Students need an understanding of the concept of place value to learn arithmetic operations on two-digit, three-digit, four-digit numbers, and so on. If students do not have an understanding of the concept of place value, students will have difficulty learning arithmetic operations that require the concept of place value. If students do not experience learning the formation of the concept of place value, namely the formation of the concept of tens of ten units, the concept of hundreds of tens of tens, the relationship between the concepts of units, tens and hundreds can become disconnected, so students cannot see a relationship between the three concepts and cannot use the relationship between these concepts to solve the arithmetic operations problem. Therefore training is needed in preparing and using media about place value. The purpose of implementing this PKM activity is to train teachers to be able to prepare and use Block Dienes media for the formation of concepts and operations for calculating place value, by implementing Bruner's learning theory in carrying out learning activities about place value. The method for implementing PKM activities is carried out in three stages, including preparation, implementation and evaluation. After attending the training the participants are able to understand the use of the dienes block in determining place value.

Abstract

This service activity is carried out for elementary school teachers spread across the district/city of Jayapura regarding basic literacy learning, specifically print awareness and alphabet knowledge so that they can deal with children's education problems from an early age when they are not yet in school or not yet literate. alphabet. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide reinforcement about applying basic literacy knowledge to teachers who are spread across several schools in both the city and Jayapura district. The implementation of socialization activities is carried out for one day and uses lecture and discussion methods as well as delivery of material/information, as well as providing exercises related to basic literacy learning in the development of elementary school children's lives, especially in terms of awareness of print awareness and introduction to how to teach the alphabet through the four stages of listening, say, read, and write. The number of participants involved was 24 people from the target of 30 participants. The results of the implementation of the socialization program in strengthening basic literacy went well and all participants were able to understand the importance of print awareness and teaching alphabet knowledge as well as ways and techniques for teaching it correctly.
