Abstract

Ketersediaan air tanah yang memadai menjadi krusial seiring dengan pertumbuhan populasi manusia. Artikel ini mengungkapkan studi tentang keberadaan sumber air tanah alternatif di Kawasan Lam Cot, Aceh Besar. Metode geolistrik resistivitas digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi kedalaman lapisan akuifer dan potensi sumber air tanah dalam. Pengukuran dilakukan pada satu titik pengukuran dengan penggunaan resistivitimeter SuperSting R8/IP. Hasil pengukuran resistivitas semu menunjukkan variasi nilai antara 0,5 hingga 193,2 Ωm dengan kedalaman berkisar 0 hingga 140 meter. Identifikasi keadaan litologi di bawah permukaan menunjukkan adanya tanah lempung, lanau, batuan kerikil, dan batu pasir dengan nilai resistivitas yang berbeda pada kedalaman tertentu. Meskipun akuifer tidak ditemukan dalam jangkauan pengukuran, penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang kondisi hidrogeologi kawasan tersebut. Diperlukan studi lanjutan dengan pengukuran yang lebih luas untuk mendapatkan informasi yang lebih komprehensif tentang sumber air tanah di Kawasan Lam Cot.

Abstract

Earthquakes and tsunamis are natural disasters that can occur anywhere and anytime. Knowledge about the dangers of natural disasters needs to be imparted to the community so that they can understand the types and levels of danger that may arise. This is necessary to enhance the community's capacity to deal with disasters. Reflecting on the occurrence of the 2004 Aceh Earthquake and Tsunami, which claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and caused hundreds of millions of US dollars in losses, increasing knowledge and understanding of disaster hazards needs to be continuously pursued. The repetition of these activities aligns the history of disaster events passed down through generations with the advancements in scientific knowledge and technological progress. Increasing knowledge of earthquake and tsunami hazards can be achieved, in part, through socialization efforts. One appropriate segment of society to receive reinforcement of knowledge through socialization activities is high school students, particularly the students of SMAN 1 Lhoknga, Aceh Besar Regency. Students are the younger generation whose roles can be agents of change within the wider community. Therefore, their role in the realm of disaster management needs to be supported by a good and competent capacity enhancement. Thus, students of SMAN 1 Lhoknga can understand the factors causing and the impacts arising from earthquake and tsunami disasters and actively participate in such events.

Abstract

Honey as a natural product produced by bees, has high health qualities and economic value. There are diverse species of bees known to produce honey with essential nutrients such as vitamin C. Trigona bees (Apidae), also known as Linot (in Acehnese language), are one type of bee that is easy to raise and harmless. This species makes nests in hollows of trees, bamboo trunks, wooden burrows, and even crevices in fences, walls and walls of houses. Generally, farmers use houses for storing bee honey made from simple materials in the form of wood, bamboo. This material was chosen because it is similar to the original habitat of bees and can provide ideal conditions for colonies. In the selection of honey facilities and houses, things that need to be considered are the ability of the material to maintain a stable temperature in the hive (because temperature is very important for colony life), resistance to predators and extreme weather, and ease in maintaining and harvesting honey. This paper aims to explain the use of lightweight concrete as an alternative to honey houses. Lightweight concrete is lightweight concrete, has good thermal insulation properties and is resistant to fire and heat. The installation of the Linot honey house was applied in Ie Seum Village as a beneficiary village for the service activities carried out. It can be seen that linot bees still use honey houses to store their honey and the honey production produced is not much different from other honey houses.

Abstract

Penyelidikan tanah lapangan adalah tahap kunci dalam perencanaan dan pelaksanaan proyek konstruksi, renovasi, dan perubahan fungsi bangunan. Transformasi bangunan ini memerlukan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang karakteristik tanah, karena kondisi tanah yang baik akan memastikan keberhasilan proyek dan keamanan bangunan yang akan dibangun. Penyelidikan tanah adalah proses mendalam yang mencakup pemetaan lapisan tanah, pengukuran tahanan tanah, dan penentuan kapasitas dukungan tanah. Dalam konteks ini, tahanan ujung dan tahanan kulit tanah menjadi faktor utama yang digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan tanah dalam menopang beban bangunan yang baru. Pentingnya penyelidikan tanah dalam proyek ini terletak pada pemilihan fondasi yang tepat untuk bangunan rumah sakit yang akan datang. Dengan mengetahui karakteristik tanah, insinyur dapat merancang fondasi yang sesuai untuk memastikan keamanan dan ketahanan struktural. Dalam kesimpulan, penyelidikan tanah lapangan adalah langkah penting dalam transformasi dari hotel menjadi rumah sakit. Dengan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang kondisi tanah di lokasi proyek, kita dapat memastikan bahwa rumah sakit yang akan dibangun akan kokoh, aman, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat dalam sektor perawatan kesehatan.

Abstract

The aim of this Community Service (PKM) activity is to provide technical assistance and diagnose damage to drilled well pumps in Gampong Luthu Lamweu, Sukamakmur, Aceh Besar. This method of implementing community service begins with conducting a location survey, outreach to the community, students involved and prospective Thematic KKN students. Next, form a service team and explain the work program, work targets and implementation targets. From the results of field diagnosis and verification, it was found that the installation of the submersible pump was not in accordance with the technical specification data on the pump. This is what makes the pump that was installed in 2021 unable to work as it should after testing the pump (run test). The PKM team recommends: the size of the output pipe be increased from ¾", to 1.5". Increased pump power from 1 hp to 1.5 hp. The pump capacity has been increased, from 10-40-70 to 20-50-80. Out put diameter from 1.25' to 1.5".

Abstract

The community service activity conducted at the Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University, is aimed at increasing income and competitiveness through the production of compost fertilizer from organic waste. This activity involves three independent business partners, namely the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Engineering, the Atsiri Research Center, and Violet Garden. The background of this community service activity is the existence of problems faced by each partner in their respective fields of business, such as limited funds, utilization of waste, and product marketing. The purpose of this activity is to provide a collaborative innovation solution that can improve the quality of products, knowledge, and skills of the partners. The method of this activity is by designing and making a raw material shredder, a compost fertilizer production place, supporting tools, workshops and training, packaging techniques, and marketing strategies. The results of this activity are the creation of quality compost fertilizer products, increased knowledge and skills of the partners, and increased income and competitiveness of the partners. It is expected that this community service activity can contribute to the development of technology and community science, especially in the field of organic waste management into compost fertilizer.

Abstract

Modern agriculture is characterized by the utilization of inputs like inorganic fertilizers, mainly due to the cultivation of superior varieties that respond well to fertilization (especially artificial fertilizers) and are resistant to pesticides. This practice is adopted to address the growing urgency of food demands. However, the utilization of these materials has led to critical issues concerning land degradation due to negative impacts from inorganic fertilizers and pesticides. One approach to encourage sustainable farming practices is through community service programs that offer training and outreach to raise awareness about the significance of using organic fertilizers and pesticides in plant cultivation. The training conducted in Lambunot Paya Village focuses on promoting organic farming by teaching farmers to comprehend and embrace organic techniques. It includes instruction on creating compost and bokashi, producing organic pesticides/biopesticides, and adopting organic vegetable cultivation methods employing organic fertilizers and pesticides. The benefits of this initiative are evident in increased crop yields, environmental and consumer health preservation, and efficient use of agricultural waste. Moreover, it aligns with the government's objectives of enhancing agricultural yields while safeguarding the environment, human health, and biodiversity, along with curbing pest and disease outbreaks. Ultimately, this contributes to maintaining high agricultural productivity and ensuring long-term soil fertility

Abstract

This article reports on the design and implementation of thematic extracurricular activities for primary school students regarding the introduction of two professions :  architect and urban planner. The program was carried out during the pandemic with all the limitations for direct physical interaction. This report elaborated methods for combining materials and ways to manage interactions in such situation. The combination of materials is expected to provide an introduction to the professions and introduce knowledge about the field in an interesting and age-appropriate way for children. It also act as a proxy to reach parents and schools with architectural design and urban planning issues. Implementation that combines offline and online methods is an alternative model for implementing other activities both during the pandemic and in normal situations. The results of the activity show that students and parents were very interested and actively involved. The main obstacle faced and worth anticipating in implementing similar activities is the level of  familiarity with online interactions (with was new at the time) and finding mechanisms for activities to develop scientific interests at an early age, not incidentally but on a regular basis.

Abstract

The rapid spread of COVID-19 has had a significant impact on people's lives. Apart from having an impact on health, COVID-19 also affects the economic aspects of society. Therefore, various parties, including academics in tertiary institutions, participate in efforts to mitigate these impacts. One form of academic participation is through the Community Service Program, which provides counseling related to COVID-19. Universities have an important role in preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19. To anticipate greater effects and risks, the academic community, especially teaching staff at the Syiah Kuala University, needs to intervene directly to assist the government and the community in preventing and controlling COVID-19. Educational activities on prevention and control of COVID-19 for community members in Dilib Lamteungoh Village, Sukamakmur District, Aceh Besar, are part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Community Service. The main focus of this community service activity is to provide basic knowledge to the public about the importance of caution in preventing the threat of COVID-19, as well as increase community preparedness and response in preventing the spread of Corona Virus Disease-19. In this community service, our main focus is to provide education about the prevention and control of COVID-19 for local community members. After counseling, it is hoped that community members will have a better understanding of handling COVID-19.

Abstract

The agricultural sector as a source of income for some communities, because most of Indonesia's area is agricultural land. Productive agricultural land is becoming narrower, and the population is increasing, so there is a need for a medium of cultivation that can replace the use of land as a medium for cultivation. One way to use narrow land as an effort to develop agricultural produce, is by hydroponically matching crops. The purpose of this community service is to provide knowledge and to apply hydroponically hydroponic vegetable crops cultivation techniques to the peasant groups in Tambaksogra Village Sumbang Banyumas. The method of implementation of this activity is to provide training, dissemination and support to the peasant group in Tambaksogra Sumbang Banyumas village. The result of the activities that have been carried out is to provide training and support on hydroponic design of shovel rack systems in the use of parkland land, the production of hydro-ponic media, the seeding of hydroponic vegetables, the planting of aquatic spinach, spinach, paccoy and lettuce hydroponically. The activities continued with maintenance up to the harvesting and packaging of hydroponic vegetable crops to become a product with a higher economic value. This activity increases the knowledge of the PKK group about the hydroponic cultivation of vegetable crops in the fountain rackets in the village of Tambaksogra Sumbang Banyumas.
