This study examines how inflation, open unemployment rate, farmer’s exchange rate, and provincial minimum wage affect poverty in 15 poorest provinces in Indonesia. Poverty serves as a substitute for the dependent variable, with inflation, open unemployment rate, farmer’s exchange rate, and provincial minimum wage as independent variables. The 15 provinces covered by panel data are used in this investigation for the years 2010–2022. Throughout the investigation, panel data regression is adopted and Fixed Effect Model (FEM) is decided. As shown by the findings, inflation has a negative and insignificant effect, open unemployment rate has a positive and insignificant effect, farmer’s exchange rate has a negative and insignificant effect, and provincial minimum wage has a negative and significant effect. Taken together, inflation, open unemployment rate, farmer’s exchange rate, and provincial minimum wage collectively affect poverty in 15 poorest provinces in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the occurrence of the Flypaper Effect on regional spending in the regencies/cities of North Maluku Province using four main variables: Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD), General Allocation Fund (DAU), Special Allocation Fund (DAK), and Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH). The Flypaper Effect refers to a phenomenon where transfers from the central government, such as DAU, significantly impact regional spending more than local own-source revenue. This study employs a quantitative method with a Fixed Effect regression model. The data used are panel data from 10 regencies/cities in North Maluku Province over the 2017-2022 period. The results show that both DAU and PAD significantly influence regional spending. However, based on Wulansari's (2015) criteria, since PAD is also significant and DAU's influence is not dominantly greater than PAD, the Flypaper Effect does not occur in the regencies/cities of North Maluku. Furthermore, DAK does not significantly affect regional spending, while DBH is close to the significance threshold. These findings suggest that, while DAU and PAD are both significant, local governments still have the potential to enhance fiscal independence by optimizing PAD.

Notwithstanding the growing popularity of Scarlett products, there is less understanding of the elements that affect online purchasing behavior. We have found critical elements like product quality, pricing, and social media marketing. This study seeks to investigate the influence of social media marketing initiatives on the acquisition of Scarlett products via e-commerce. This research examines the influence of social media content and user engagement on consumer decision-making. This study investigates the extent to which price significantly influences the purchasing behavior of Scarlett items on e-commerce platforms. This study assesses how customer perceptions about Scarlett product quality affect e-commerce purchase decisions. This quantitative study examined the management student population at Universitas Prima Indonesia who acquired Scarlett whitening goods over the Shopee e-commerce platform. We gathered study data from 100 participants via observation, interviews, and study questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS Version 27 software, which included validity testing, accuracy assessment, classical assumptions, multiple regression, and hypothesis evaluation. The results demonstrate that the interplay of price, product quality, and social media promotion affects customers' decisions to buy Scarlett whitening products on e-commerce platforms. In this scenario, the determination test yields an R-Square value of 64.4%, signifying that these factors collectively exert a substantial influence on customer purchase decisions.

Abstract

Foreign trade provides a great opportunity to improve economic prosperity by maximizing the potential of the country's resources. Indonesia, as one of the world's largest coffee producers and exporters, faces a decline in coffee competitiveness which is reflected in volatile and declining exports. This study aims to analyze the influence of coffee production, international coffee prices, rupiah exchange rate, and land area on the competitiveness of Indonesia's coffee exports. The research was conducted over a period of 33 years (1990-2022) using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) Model, Error Correction Model (ECM), and multiple linear analysis using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. The results showed that coffee production had a significant influence in the short term, but not significantly in the long term. International coffee prices and the rupiah exchange rate have a significant negative effect in the long term, while not significant in the short term. Land area has a significant positive effect in the long term, but significant negative in the short term.

Abstract

Poverty is a shared issue that must be addressed seriously, as it describes the condition of an individual unable to live a life considered humane. This study examines the impact of economic growth, population size, labor force participation rate (LFPR), and open unemployment rate (OUR) in Malang Regency. Using secondary time series data from 2004-2023, a quantitative descriptive approach with multiple linear regression analysis was employed, processed using SPSS 25 software. The research findings indicate that simultaneously, the variables of population size and open unemployment rate significantly affect poverty levels. Specifically, economic growth does not affect poverty levels, population size has a significant negative effect on poverty, labor force participation rate has no effect on poverty, and open unemployment rate has a positive effect on poverty. This study provides insights into the dynamics affecting poverty levels in Malang Regency, highlighting the crucial role of population size as an initial factor in creating open unemployment, which reduces an individual's effectiveness in working and increases poverty levels. Understanding these factors can help policymakers develop strategies to reduce poverty and promote economic stability.
