Abstract

The research aims to determine the difference between Discovery  learning with concept map and Discovery learning to understanding the concept of  Protista  X Grade Students SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo the academic year 2014/2015. This research was quasi experiment research which used Posttest Only With Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population studies are all X MIA class students of SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo in academic year 2014/2015. Sampling technique is using cluster sampling. There are two classes of the study sample, class as the experimental class 1 and the class as an experimental class 2. Class 2 experiments using Discovery  learning with concept map and experimental class 1 using  Discovery learning. The techique of collecting data is using Certain Response Index (CRI), observation sheets, and documentation. Hypothesis testing using t test assisted by SPSS 16. The result of this research is there a difference between Discovery  learning with concept map and  Discovery learning to  understanding of the concept of Protista X Grade Students SMA NEGERI  1 Sukoharjo the academic year 2014/2015.                                                                                                                                               Keywords: Discovery,Concept Map, Concept, Certain Response Index (CRI)

Abstract

This research was aimed  to improve cognitive ability of student class  XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta academic year  2014/2015 through the implementation of inquiry learning model that is combined with mind mapping. This research was classroom action  research  that divided  into two cycles. The subject of this research is the student of  XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta academic year  2014/2015. The method of data collection through tes, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is analyzed with descriptive analytical technique and validated by triangulation  technique.The result show that student cognitive ability is increased  in pre-cycle, cycle I, cycle II. The average of students cognitive ability increase from  pre-cycle  35,01 % to 55,21 %  at cycle I, and 78,02 % at cycle II. Remembering aspect  increase from 40,40 %  to 88,88 %. Understanding aspect increase from 37,87 %  to 82,31 %. Applying aspect increase from 46,46% to 82,82 %. Analyzing aspect increase from 29,29 % to 73,73 %. Evaluating aspect increase from 26,76 % to 71,20 %. Creating aspect increase from 29,29 % to 69,18 %. This research’s conclutions is the implementation of inquiry learning model that combined with mind mapping can improve cognitive ability of the student class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. Keywords : Inquiry, Mind Mapping, Cognitive Ability

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase the analytical thinking of X-6 students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat by using guided inquiry learning model combined with concept map. This research is classroom action research  execute in 3 cycles. Each cycles consist of 4 stages, the 4 stages is scheming, implementation, observation and  reflection. The procedure of this research use Kemmis and Mc Taggart method. The subject of this research is X-6 students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat school year 20014/2015 which amounts to 34 students consist 8 boys students and 26 girls students. This data of this research be obtained by using analytical thinking observation method, analytical thinking test, interview and documentation.This results of this research by using guided inquiry learning combined with concept map shows increase analytical thinking X-6 students of SMA Negeri Kebakramat from pra cycle, cycle I, cycle II and cycle III. The overall score the analytical thinking increase from 4,88 (40,69%) become 7,31 (60,91%). Differentiating aspect increase from 1,32 (47,79%) become 2,28 (56,99%), organizing aspect increase from 1,91 (47,79%) become 2,87 (71,69%) and attributing aspect increase from 1,65 (41,18%) become 2,16 (54,04%). Based on result of this research by using guided inquiry learning combined with concept map can increase the analytical thinking of X-6 students SMA Negeri Kebakkramat. Keywords: guided inquiry learning, concept map, analytical thinking ability

Abstract

This research was  aimed  to improve the students' logical thinking in XI MIA 1 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015 about reproduction system material through discovery learning application.This research was a class action research which consisted of three cycles. Each cycle contains planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research subject was the students in XI MIA 1 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015. The data source was from the mind map that cover the  logical thinking aspects. Data collecting techniques of this research used observation, interview and documentation then data validation was using triangulation method. Data analyzing technique of this research was descriptive qualitative analysis which was done in three components, they are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing the conclusion or verification. The research’ procedure used spiral mode which is interdependent. The result of the research showed that the implementation of discovery learning improves the students’ logical thinking that covers aspects of knowledge, comunication, thinking, and application. The persentage of knowledge aspect was 53,23% in pre cycle, 81,04% in first cycle , 89,11%, in second cycle, and 95,16% in third cycle . The persentage of comunication aspect was 28,33% in pre cycle, 35,08% in first cycle, 67,74% in second cycle, and 71,77% in third cycle. The persentage of thinking aspect was  28,33% in pre cycle, 58,87% in first cycle, 49,19% in second cycle, and 73,39% in third cycle. Then the persentage of knowledge aspect was  41,53% in pre cycle, 72,18% in first cycle, 79,03% in second cycle, and 77,42% in third cycle. This research’s conclusion was the implementation of discovery learning can improve the students’ logical thinking in X MIA 1 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta academic Year 2014/2015 about reproduction system material. Keywords :discovery learning, logical thinking

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of discovery learning with lateral thinking on questioning ability of the 10th IPA graders of SMAN 2 Karanganyar.This study was a quasi experimental research with post-test only with non-equivalent group research design. The population of research was all of the 10th graders of SMAN 2 Karanganyar. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling one. The 10th IPA 2 grade served as experiment group and the 10th IPA 3 as control. Techniques of collecting data used were test and non-test. Test technique employed essay question instrument to measure the learning outcome in cognitive domain, while non-test technique used observation sheet instrument to measure the students’ questioning ability, learning outcome in psychomotor and affective domains and the implementation of learning syntax. Hypothesis testing was carried out using t-test with SPSS version 17 help.The results showed that the ability to ask students between the experimental group and the control group were significantly different . Values experimental group students' ability to ask include: questions asking for an explanation of 1.54 ; The question of what , why and how 36.18 ; background hypothetical question 40.13 . Value KPS control groups included: the question asked for an explanation of 0.57 ; The question of what , why and how 41.03 ; background hypothetical question 29.06 This research concluded that there was an effect of discovery learning model with lateral thinking method on the questioning ability of the 10th IPA graders of SMAN 2 Karanganyar. Keywords: discovery learning, lateral thinking, questioning ability

Abstract

This research aimed to improve the scientific process skills and reduce misconception through the application of E-Module based on Problem-Based Learning in the X MIA 2 graders of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. This research was a Classroom Action Research consisting of 2 cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of research was the X MIA 2 graders of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta consisting of 42 students. Techniques of collecting data used were multiple choice test and observation to measured scientific process skills, open-ended reasoning of Two-Tier Diagnostic Test to measure misconseption, and interveiw as the proponent data related learning process. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative technique consist of three component: data reduction, data presentation, and taking the conclusion. Data validation was carried out using triangulation method. Target of research was 20% to increased scientific process skills and 20%  to reduced misconseption at the end of the cycle. The result of research showed that the scientific process skills to able increased through the application of E-Module based on Problem-Based Learning in all aspects: observing of 29.83%, categorizing of 11.73%, predicting of 37.33%, interpreting of 30.71%, measuring of 35.66%, communicating of 32.39%, designing experiment of 30.04%, experimenting of 21.82%, asking question of 23.42%, hypothesizing of 36.73%, and applying concept of 42.58%. On the other side, the  result of research also showed that there was a decreased misconception in ecological concept: population of 51.31%, community of 43.73%, ecosystem of 39.36%, and science, environment, technology and community (salingtemas) ecology of 54.33%. The conclusion of this research described that there was an increasing scientific process skills of 28.96% and reducing misconception of 47.18% by used the application of E-Module based on Problem-Based Learning. Keywords  : Scientific Process Skills, Misconception, E-Module based on Problem Based Learning.

Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of Assessment for Learning (AfL) to argumentative skill of high school students. The  research used a quasi experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The design consists of  control class and experiment class. Two clasess was randomly selected from 9 classes. The participants were 67 students from  grade 10 of one high school in Surakarta. Data of argumentative skill was a pre-post test of AfL. The hypothesis test using t test and paired sample t test. The results of hypothesis testing showed that the significant value gained 0.000 <0.05, therefore H0 is rejected or H1 is accepted. Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve student’s activity and motivation of class XI IPA ICT 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. The result of the observation which is student appeared unenthusiastic attitude towards learning is being implemented, so its needed a learning model which accommodate student’s activity and motivation learning. One of the models that accommodate and treat student’s activity and motivation learning less is discovery learning model. Kind of this research is classroom action research.The methods of data collection are through observation, questionnaire, and interviews. The data are in the form of students’ activity and motivation at every phase of discovery learning models in each cycle of the action. The analysis of the quality of percentace average observation and questionnaire of student’s activity and motivation learning. The results of the application of discovery learning model showed an increase of the quality of student’s activity and motivation. The observation quality student’s activity in the pre cycle is 38,82%, the first cycle is 66,76%, and the second cycle is 83,71%. The questionnaire quality student’s activity in the pre cycle is 51,12%, the first cycle is 75,13%, and the second cycle is 78,68%. The observation quality student’s motivation in the pre cycle is 42,86%, the first cycle is 67,30%, and the second cycle is 79,89%. The questionnaire quality student’s motivation in the pre cycle is 49,29%, the first cycle is 71,86%, and the second cycle is 76,55%.Based on the result of the research, it can conclude that the application of discovery learning model can improve student’s activity and motivation learning. Keywords: Activity, Motivation, Discovery Learning

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve student’s critical thinking skill on Environmental Pollution Subject at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. The research is a Classroom Action Research with 2 cycles of action. Each cycle consist of 4 phases which is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the observations showed, 1) interpretation skill 43.97%, 2) analysis 29.31%, 3) evaluation 32.76%, 4) inference 43.10%, 5) explanation 53.45%, and 6) self-regulation 52.59%. Average of students’ critical thinking skill procentage is 42,53%. The method of data collection is through observation, tests, and documentation. Technical analysis of data is technical qualitative descriptive. Data validation is use triangulation methods. The results of the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject showed an increase of students’ critical thinking skill. Students’ critical thinking skill in the first cycle is 70,83%. Students’ critical thinking skill in the second cycle is 75%. Based on the result of the research, we can conclude that the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject in general can improve students’ critical thinking skill at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta, despite the increase that occurs varies in each cycle. Keywords : Critical Thinking Skill, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

The research is aimed to improve higher order thinking skills students at class X IPA of SMA through the implementation of discovery learning model on the ecosystem subject. This research was a classroom action research which consists of two cycles. Each cycle contains four phases which were planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subjects were students at class X IPA of SMA totaling 32 students. The data collecting techniques of this research were using test method obtained through essay test, and nontest method obtained through observation, interview, and documentation. The primary data is advanced higher order thinking skill of students with Bloom revised taxonomy to analyzing, evaluating, and creating measured using essays in accordance researchers any material indicators of ecosystem. The Data validate of this research were triangulation method. Analysis of data using qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The Target of research is to increase the higher order thinking skill’s students ≥25. The increase in higher order thinking skills results by the increasing student achievement of the average score of aspects of higher order thinking skills students were: 1)aspect analyzing of 52.66 with the moderate criteria of being at base line be 66.98 with the moderate criteria of being in the cycle I, then the the cycle II into 80,52 with a high criteria, 2)evaluating aspects of 45.83 with low criteria on base line be 64.17 with the moderate criteria of being in the cycle I, then on the cycle II into 73.96 with moderate criteria, and 3)creating aspects of 50,31 with the moderate criteria of being at base line be 68,49 with the moderate criteria of being in the cycle I, then on the cycle II into 76,35 with high criteria. Implication of discovery learning can increase the high order thinking skills students in base line, Cycle I and Cycle II. The score of test each aspect of higher order thinking skill aspect were: 1)analyzing increased by 27,86, 2)evaluating an increase of 28,13 from, and 3)creating increased by 26,04. This conclusion was implementation of discovery learning could improveas much as ≥25 of high order thinking skills students at class X IPA of SMA. Keywords : higher order thingking skill, discovery learning
