Abstract

This study investigated how is the perception of high school of vocational in tourism program study students in communicating foreign language and revealed the competence in twenty-first century skills. There are about 125 respondents who participated out from 150 survey spread on the vocational high schools that held tourism program study in Yogyakarta involving the teachers and students. The data were collected through comprehensive questionnaire. The results shown that the subjects had following in common and compared result to the teachers shown that perceptual matches and mismatches between the two groups. Through One-Way ANOVA test (P0.05), there found 7 items in communicative competence that significantly difference in students perception and 18 items on 21st century skills. Meanwhile, the perception between students and teachers, there found 9 items that significantly difference.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggambar proporsi tubuh wanita dengan menerapkan metode peer teaching, (2) peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa melalui penerapan metode peer teaching, (3) peningkatan pencapaian kompetensi menggambar proporsi tubuh wanita melalui penerapan metode peer teaching di SMK Diponegoro Depok, Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus dengan desain penelitian model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 34 siswa kelas XI Busana Butik pada tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Teknik pengambilan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi, metode tes, dan metode dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi, lembar penilaian unjuk kerja, dan tes. Validitas instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan validitas isi dengan meminta pendapat para ahli. Uji reliabilitas menggunakan konsistensi antar rater. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menggambar proporsi tubuh wanita telah terlaksana sangat baik (100%), sesuai dengan fase dan unsur metode peer teaching. Motivasi belajar siswa siklus pertama dalam kategori sedang, yaitu mencapai 53,9%, pada siklus kedua motivasi belajar siswa dalam kategori sedang, yaitu mencapai 60,6%, dan siklus ketiga motivasi belajar siswa dalam kategori tinggi, yaitu mencapai 75,3%. Pencapaian kompetensi menggambar proporsi tubuh wanita siklus pertama siswa yang memenuhi standar KKM sebanyak 44,12%, siklus kedua siswa yang memenuhi standar KKM sebanyak 61,76%, dan siklus ketiga siswa yang memenuhi standar KKM sebanyak 79,41%. IMPROVING STUDENTS’ LEARNING MOTIVATION TO ATTAIN THE COMPETENCY IN DRAWING BODY PROPORTION THROUGH PEER TEACHING METHODAbstractThis teaching research study aims to investigate: (1) the implementation of the teaching of drawing female body proportion by applying the peer teaching method, (2) the improvement of the students’ motivation through the application of the peer teaching method, and (3) the improvement of the attainment of the competency in drawing female body proportion through the application of the peer teaching method in SMK Diponegoro Depok, Yogyakarta. This research was a classroom action research study consisting of three cycles employing the research model by Kemmis and McTaggart. The study was conducted in SMK Diponegoro Depok Yogyakarta. The research subjects were 34 grade XI students of Boutique Clothing in the academic year of 2013/2014. The technic of research subject taking is conducted by purposive sampling. The data collecting methods were observation, test, and documentation methods. The instrument is observation sheet, performance assessment sheet, and test. The instrument validity testing used the content validity, and was assessed through expert judgment and the reliability was assessed by means of the inter-rater consistency technique. The data were analyzed using the quantitative descriptive technique. The results of the study show that the teaching of drawing female body proportion was well implemented, in accordance with the phase and component of the peer teaching method. In cycle I their learning motivation was in the moderate category, namely 53.9%, in cycle II it was in the moderate category, namely 60.6%, and in cycle III it was in the high category, namely 75.3%. The attainment of the competency in drawing female body proportion in cycle I 44.12% of the students attained the MMC, in cycle II 61.76% of the students attained the MMC, and in cycle III 79.41% of the students attained the MMC.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan: (1) deskripsi tentang nilai-nilai karakter pelaut yang sudah dikembangkan pada taruna di Pertikepel; (2) deskripsi tentang nilai-nilai karakter pelaut yang menjadi tuntutan industri pelayaran internasional; (3) model pembelajaran karakter pelaut yang efektif untuk diterapkan pada taruna Pertikepel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan yang mengacu pada model Research Development Richey dan Klein. Tahapan penelitian ini adalah: (1) pengembangan model needs assessment dan draf model (2) validasi model internal menggunakan metode FGD dan expert review, serta validasi model eksternal menggunakan metode quasi experimental dengan one group pretest posttest design dari Isaac dan Michael. Hasil penelitian: (1) nilai karakter pelaut yang sudah dikembangkan pada taruna Pertikepel adalah disiplin; (2) nilai karakter pelaut yang seharusnya dikembangkan pada taruna Pertikepel adalah tanggung jawab, kepercayaan diri, etos kerja, pemecahan masalah, dan kerja sama; (3) efektifitas model Co-Prol dilihat dari perkembangan trend nilai karakter taruna perminggunya selama 16 minggu, didapatkan efektif.Kata kunci: karakter pelaut, co-prol, pertikepel INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL OF SEAFARERS’ CHARACTERAbstractThe objectives of this research were to produce: (1) the description of values of seafarers’ character had been developed for the students of Pertikepel;  (2) the description of the values of seafarers’ character required by international maritime industry; (3) the effective seafarers’ character instructional model applied for the students of Pertikepel. This study used a Research and Development Model proposed by Richey Klein. The research involved the following steps: (1) developing the model of need assessment and draft, (2) validating the internal model using FGD method and expert review, and validating the external model using quasi experimental method withone group pretest posttest design proposed by Isaac and Michael. The results of the research showed that: (1) discipline was the value of seafarers’ character which had been developed for the students of Pertikepel; (2) the values of seafarers’ character should be developed for the students of maritime higher education were responsibility, self confidence, work ethic, problem solving, and cooperativeness; (3) the Co–Prol model was effective since there was the development of the weekly increasing trend on the values of character, starting from first week until sixteenth week.Keywords: seafarers’ character, co-prol, pertikepel

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal the factors that influence vocational school teachers’ readiness to implement curriculum 2013 revised edition in Cilacap regency. The factors are 1) principals’ leadership toward the teachers’ readiness, 2) the impact of teachers’ professionalism toward teachers’ readiness, 3) the impact of the teachers’ training. This research is an ex-post facto research. The method of collecting data used in this research is the mix method. The data was collected by using questioner and interview and then, analyzed by applying statistics descriptive counts mean of the percentage. To confirm the hypotheses, this study used multiple linear regression. The result of the research showed that: (1) principals’ leadership affect teachers’ readiness in the amount of 8.4%, (2) teachers’ professionalism impact the teachers’ readiness in amount of 17.7%, (3) teachers’ training impact teachers’ readiness in amount of 24.1%, and (4) principals’ leadership, professionalism, and teachers’ training simultaneously, affect teachers’ readiness and it is proved by Fcalculate in the amount of 5,403 and significant value (p = 0,001 0,05). It meant that the whole result of the three free-variables affects the teachers’ readiness significantly in implementing curriculum 2013 revised edition at vocational school in Cilacap.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pencapaian kompetensi siswa membuat pola menggunakan pembelajaran berbantuan media adobe flash dan media power point berdasarkan kemampuan belajarnya pada mata diklat membuat pola. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan variabel terikat kompetensi siswa, variabel bebas media berbasis komputer, dan variabel moderator kemampuan siswa. Dua kelas sebagai subyek penelitian dengan 22 siswa pada masing-masing kelas, sehingga jumlah keseluruhan 44 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar penilaian unjuk kerja dan soal post test. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji Anova jalur ganda dan uji lanjut Tukeys. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kompetensi siswa membuat pola yang menggunakan pembelajaran berbantuan media adobe flash dan media power point, (2) terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kompetensi siswa pada kelompok tinggi, (3) tidak terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kompetensi siswa pada kelompok rendah, dan (4) terjadi interaksi antara penggunaan media berbasis komputer dan kelompok kemampuan siswa terhadap kompetensi siswa membuat pola. THE EFFECT OF LEARNING THROUGH COMPUTER-BASED MEDIA ON THE COMPETENCY IN PATTERN MAKING STUDENTS OF SMKN 6 YOGYAKARTAAbstractThis study aimed to investigate difference in the attainment of the student competency in pattern making that using learning strategies Adobe Flash media and Power Point media based on the learning capability of the pattern making. This was a quasi-experimental study involving student’s competency as the dependent variable, computer-based media as a independent variable, and student’s capability as the moderator variable. Two class as research subjects with 22 students in each class, so that the total was 44 students. The instruments were a performance assessment sheet and a post-test. The data were analyzed by means two-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post-hoc test. The results of study show that (1) there was a difference in the attainment of the students competency in pattern making that using learning strategies Adobe Flash media and Power Point media, (2) there was a difference in the attainment of the students competency in the upper group learning, (3) there was no difference in the attainment of the students competency in the lower group learning, and (4) there was an interaction of the use of computer-based media and the student learning capability group on the students competency in pattern making.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain the draft of CSE-UCLA (Center for the Study of Evaluation- University of California in Los Angeles) evaluation model which is capable of measuring the level of optimization of digital library services, especially on higher education of computers in Bali. The method used in this research is the methods of research and development, the design of development is Walter Borg and Gall Meredith model. The overall study was conducted over three years, where research in the first year, especially up to design of the evaluation model is carried out for 3 months involving 2 education experts and 2 experts on informatics as research subjects in early trials that tested the design of the evaluation model and the accuracy calculation of the weighted product concept. The results of this study in the first year obtained a draft CSE-UCLA evaluation model modified using Weighted Product so as to measure the level of optimization of digital library services.

Abstract

Lack of students enrolling in diploma programs compared to what occurred Germany is a sign that Indonesian high school graduates are discouraged from enrolling in the program. Previous studies have mostly focused on the perception and expectation toward vocational high school, leaving motivation and satisfaction under-researched. This study aims to look at the motivation of students enrolling at the two-year diploma and how satisfied they are with the program. Factors contributing to their satisfaction would be presented accordingly. The study used a qualitative research approach with a case study design by examining current students at AKN Aceh Barat. A focus group discussion coupled with interview were employed to obtain the data and a total of 23 first year diploma students participated in the study. The study found that students were encouraged to enroll for the diploma program due to practical skill benefit, short durational advantage, and financial constraints of their families. They valued practical skills over theoretical knowledge and a short time of study over four years in college. The financial constraint also implies that most students enrolled in the program originate from financially unfortunate families. Most students have been satisfied with the program indicating that their initial motivation has been fulfilled. Factors contributing to their satisfaction include practical skills, theoretical knowledge, laboratory facilities, building infrastructure, and the number of students. They have been satisfied with the balance between practical skills and theoretical balance offered by the program yet felt the need for improvement in the other areas.

Abstract

DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND WORK WORLD RELATIONSBased on universal issues in the era of globalization, this article describes some phenomena how essential the role of Vocational and technical education in recent year to support the development of work forces in Indonesia. The wise government policies are needed to run various program of Vocational and technical educationin entire country, which is based on world-work needs. The common problem appeared is how to build the "mutual symbiotic" relationship between vocational and technical schools and the world of work.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan hasil inventory Laboratorium Jasa Boga di SMK wilayah Mawitan Jawa Timur. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah laboratorium jasa boga di SMK wilayah Mawitan (Madiun, Ngawi dan Magetan). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik observasi, instrumen check list, menggunakan lembar check list, validitas instrumen menggunakan expert justment, reliabilitasnya menggunakan interobserver. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kualitas Ruang Praktik Dapur Latih semua sesuai standar spesifikasi dan mayoritas sangat layak (86%); (2) Kualitas Ruang Praktik Tata Hidang sangat layak pada tiga sekolah (47%), belum memiliki ruang praktik Tata Hidang pada empat sekolah (53%); (3) Kualitas Perabot dapur latih sangat layak (86%), kualitas layak (14%); (4) Kualitas Peralatan Dapur Latih sangat layak (57%), kuallitas layak (29%) dan kualitas tidak layak14%; (5) Kualitas Perabot Tata Hidang 29% tidaklayak, 57% layak dan 14% sangat layak; (6) Kualitas Peralatan Tata Hidang, 14% tidak layak, 57% layak, 29% sangat layak. THE INVENTORY FOOD SERVICE IN VOCASIONAL SCHOOL LABORATORY IN MAWITAN EAST JAVAAbstractThis study aims to get the inventory of food service vocational school laboratory in Mawitan East Java. This research was a descriptive quantitative. The data source of this research was the laboratory of food service of Vocational School in Mawitan region (Madiun, Ngawi and Magetan). The data were collected through observation, with instrument check list, made use of instrument check list, validity instrument made use of expert justment, reliability made use of interobserver. The data were analyzed using the descriptive quantitative.
