Abstract

This   program   of  implementation    Science,   Technology    and  Arts (Ipteks)  intended  to  introduce  and  give  skill  training  about  making  chips from  fish skins (kerupuk  kulit  ikan)  to the community   in Tanjungsari   Sub­ district,  Gunungkidul   Regency.  In this  area,  there  are  plenty  of  fish  skins that can pollute  and disturb  the beauty  of the environment.   Producing  chips from fish skins can reduce the pollutant  and increase  the value of fish skins.The  program   was  held  by  giving   information   and  demonstration methods  in two locations  with different  participants.   The first program  was held  in Tanjungsari  Sub-district   Hall  for 35 participants,   who  were  village chiefs'    wives.   The   second   program   was   held   at  Baron   beach   hall   to accommodate  20 participants,  consisting  of fishermen's   wives and members of youth group.The questionnaire  result  of first program  showed  that  85.71 % of theparticipants   considered  this  program  profitable   and  74.28%  said  that  they were  interested  to  develop  business  in  producing   fish  skin  chips.  All  the participants   (100%)   of  the  second   program   said  that   the  program   was profitable  and  they  were  interested  to  develop   business   in producing   fish skin  chips.  Thus,  the  program   succeeded   in  broadening   the  participants' perspectives  and  skills  on how  to make  use  of   waste,  turning  it into fish skin  chips  and  to  motivate  the  participants   to  develop   business  using  the knowledge  and skills already obtained.Key words:fish skin waste.fish skin drips

Abstract

AbstractThe increase is a critical area of unity between the simultaneouscondition biofisik, social, economic and culture associated with the land asThe main factors of production, and implementation of policies thatconsider less sustainable. Fatuleu sub-district is one of the district with29,800 inhabitants The population, which consists of 11 villages and 1village. Livelihood of communities is 41.41% is agricultural and animalhusbandry. The goal of this activity are: 1). Rest and empowering potentialof silvopastoral agroforestry system as a source of economic income people;2). Changing the views and attitudes of farmers on land that has not beenapplying the concept of silvopastoral system; 3). Changing the system ofland use monoculture (traditional) into Multicultural (modern).Bring or change the pattern of land use monokuler need to bemultikuler process. The method is implemented with a participatoryapproach to counseling about technology silvopastoral agroforestry systemfor the rehabilitation of critical land. Demplot making model with thecondition that the land biofisik Social Economy and society, developmentdemplot plants with the implementation of silvicultural techniques thatinclude tree species selection, soil management techniques, plantingtechniques and maintenance.This activity is held on the land of farmers and the maincommodities planted on land that is provided is deplot forestry plantsnamely Mahoni with planting distance of 6 x 6 meters with the plantingholes 30x30x30 cm, while the terrace plants and Lamtoro turi.Implementation of activities or physical realization in location, the form of:1) Preparation of land for planting and seedling; 2) Making terrace; 3)Pengalian hole; 4) Planting. Abstract

AbstractThis civil serving program was aimed to give live skills basedentrepreneurship as an alrernative asset for vocational school students,especially for vocational school number I at Depok Sleman. The students,majoring in food and beverage, was expected to have knowledge and liveskills which was needed to enter the work World, whether it was a privateBusiness or working in product or service company with a deserve salary.Fifteen student and five teachers from vocational schools number IDepok Sleman Yogyakarta followed the program. The teaching method,which was used for the program, was speech and answering a question,demonstration and practice, and industrial survey. The practice programwas done trice by making six kinds of food and industrial survey in twoprospective food companies at Yogyakarta.The result of the civil serving program is very satisfying. It can beseen by the absence and the followers anthusiasm. The practice results arewell and maximum, the taste of the foods are good. The Participant is 21 teachers of JuniorHigh Scholl in Yogyakarta. Method applied in this activity are discourse,discussion - information, demonstration and experiment.They made of lenan household single form of diametrical and circle,multiple form of diametrical and circle, and lenan with various technique ofmeronce. Each participant makes four kinds of object, out of five objectsplanned. Based on evaluation result, this activity was attractive and its canbe utilized and developed in school as component of skill teaching of PKK.And it can be to public. This Activity assessed to be very useful so thatparticipant expects for the next activity for developing skill teaching ofPKK for junior high schools student. Abstract

AbstractThe objectives of community service activity through scientific writingworkshop for vocational high school (SMK) teachers are: 1) to increaseprofessionalism development of SMK teachers to fulfill promotion requirement;2) to increase capability of making and presentation scientific writingproduct; and 3) to produce scientific writing product that ready to publish.The activities of scientific writing workshop was done by 54 teachersof SMKN 2 Godean. Workshop activities were done by using method:1) discourse about scientific writing, scientific writing ethics, scientific writingtechnique, language in scientific writing, reference scanning throughinternet, making scientific writing, and self-editing technique; 2) discussionat every matter submitted, participant can dialogue and discuss with team;3) task to make scientific product which to obtain certificate requirement.Making of scientific product was conducted by tutorial.The community service activity through scientific writing workshopcan be concluded successfully. It can be showed from positive response ofparticipant from target of 65 participants can be realized become 54 participantsor 83% at workshop implementation. Besides that the teachers getsattachment of knowledge and skill in reference scanning through internetaccess. However, target of the many scientific product that ready to publishis unattainable because the teachers have not motivation to write scientificproduct and the many activities of teacher in school.Keywords: profesionalisme, teachers, workshop, and scientific writing

Abstract

AbstractInformation technology has progressed rapidly. The using of informationtechnology can help teachers to manage their time for searchingreferences that can be useful to teach their students. This programme wasaimed to give a course for biology teachers of Senior High Schools atSleman District to use information technology for making lessoning mediabased on internet.The methode of this course was learning by doing. The team gavethe theory about information technology using for media making, and thenthe participants practiced it directly. There were 16 teacher participants fromSleman District, and one teacher from East Kalimantan as a guest teacher.The participants were very eager to search the information relatedtheir teaching tasks. They did searching, browsing, downloading, anduploading the information from internet and then they arranged it in alessoning media. In a limited trying test, lessoning media created by theparticipants could help the teaching-learning process clearly, but it neededtime more to prepare and to arrange the media.Keywords: lessoning media and internet

Abstract

AbstractThis Unit UJI Program aims to: (1) add income for UNY and itsacademic members, (2) supply facilities for the lecturers and students toconduct research and community service activities, (3) prepare new jobs inthe glazuur material industry sector, and (4) give opportunities and workingexperience (new work field) for the UNY students.The development of the glazuur material products applies certainchemical reaction principles affected by composition (chemical substanceconcentration), reaction temperature, chemical characteristic, and physicalcharacteristic of the chemical substance. Variations of the concentration,temperature, and chemical substance in a chemical reaction will producevarious glazuur colors. The product development method was conducted byan experimental research in the Building Material Laboratory and theChemical Laboratory UNY. The marketing strategy runs by promotionthrough regional and national expo activities and direct selling toconsumers. The product marketing runs through PT. UNY MULTIUTAMA, the ceramic tile industry PWS Godean, and Timboel KeramikKasongan.The business products of the UJI unit in UNY are categorized intothree groups: (1) glazuur materials, (2) glazuur tiles, and (3) glazuurceramics. Various glazuur colours being produced are green, blue, brown,black, grey, yellow, chromic red, lead chromic red, and oxcyde. Thebusiness product specifications having been produced are: (1) the glazuurmaterials have an added value in aesthetics because they have various brightcolors and the burning temperature is lower compared to the existingmarketed glazuur materials, (2) the glazuur tiles have more aestheticalappearance, not porous, smoother surface, and higher elastical strength andlower water absorption compared to non-glazuur materials, (3) glazuurceramics have smaller surface pores compared to non-glazuur materials so itwill not wet although they are exposed with water for 48 hours. Theliquefied test in the buffer solution with pH4 shows that there are metals inliquefied glazuur materials, but the amount is still below the threshold, so itwill not endanger the environment. Although the incubation period ofDP2M has been over, the business prospect of the glazuur material UJI unitInotek, Volume 13, Nomor 2, Agustus 2009136is predicted to succeed because of the raw material availability in relativelycheap cost but relatively high product selling values.Keywords: glazuur materials, ceramics, and tiles

Abstract

AbstractThe goal of this water safety training is to give basic skill and knowledgeabout water safety for 25 members of lifeguard in Special Province ofJogjakarta.The method that was used for this training were workshop, discussion,simulation, training in water, and evaluation test method. Evaluationwith direct observation consists of attention, willingness, enthusiasm to thematery who was given by society servants team (PPM), and post test for thelast. Then, evaluation in the pool with several activities that were helpingdrawning victims by equipment and no equipment, giving mouth to mouthbreath, cardiopolmunory respiration, bouancy test, diving test, and swimmingrescue. This training followed by 25 Jogjakartas lifeguards and theywere 2 from Sleman, 2 from Bantul, 8 from Jogja city, 6 from Gunungkiduland 5 FIKs students.The result of discusion are (1) there are many swimming pool thatdont have rescue equipment like lifejacket, rope, stick, and wheel. (2) thereis less knowledge about rescue swimming technique for the lifeguard inJogjakarta., (3) there are many swimming pool which have no life guard, (4)we have high rate entusiasm of participant, and (5) we also have goodmanagement in swimming pool.Keywords: water accident, water safety, and life guard

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed to study the made of chitosan membrane.The chitosan membrane was made from industrial waste of prawn packingfactory. The prawn husk was extracted to become chitin before it was thentransformed to chitosan. In order to make a membrane, the chitosan wasmixed with an acetic acid solution using magnetic stirrer. The mixed ofchitosan and an acetic acid solution was doing for 24 hour to make sure thesolution are homogenic. After that, chitosan solution was stored to glassplate 10x10 cm. The glass plate that have been with chitosan solution thendried for 48 hours. A Chitosan Membrane that have made was keeped withthe plate until it used.Keywords: chitosan membrane, industrial waste
