Abstract

This study used qualitative methods, through observation and in-depth interview. The observations and interviews were carried out with the subject and his or her environment. So, the forms of character education, examples of character and educator strategy can be in-depth uncovered, on behalf of internalizing the character education in schools. The study had been carried out for 12 months in SMP Negeri 3 (State Junior High School) Pacitan, East Java. The results showed that education essentially had two objectives, namely helping people be intelligent and smart (smart), and be better human beings (good). Making intelligent and clever man, may be easy to do, but making people be kind and wise seems to be much more difficult or even very difficult. Thus, it is fair to say that the moral problem is an acute matter or chronic diseases that accompanies human life anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

Natural disaster material books in elementary school which contained the description of natural disasters in Indonesia was still given abstractly. During the age of 11-12 years, the development of primary school students are at the operational concrete level. The material which is taught to the elementary students requires concrete tangible medium, one of the learning media is in the form of comics. This study aimed to determine the influence of comic learning media on learning outcomes of natural disasters material in elementary school. It was kind of the experimental research using quantitative approach. Statistics analysis of the significance of differences in pretest - posttest with paired t- test was used to determine the significance increase in learning outcomes between pretest and posttest. Based on the statistical calculation of t-test, it showed that the level of significance with sig (2 tailed) of 0.015 (p< 0.05), it meant that there was a significant difference between the study of pretest and posttest. Therefore, learning by using the comic media influenced the learning outcomes in materials of natural disasters on sixth grade students of SDN Kandangan Krembung subdistrict of Sidoarjo regency.

Abstract

This action research aimed to improve students’ English speaking skill of PGSD students in STKIP PGRI Pacitan through communicative activities and to describe the classroom situation when communicative activities are implemented in the speaking class. The research method used in this research is a classroom action research, which conducted in two cycles. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire, observation, interview, document analysis and tests. The researcher conducted the test before research (pre-test) and after implementing communicative activities (post test 1 and 2). The mean scores of each test were compared to know the students improvements in speaking ability. The improvement can be seen from the improvement of the mean score of pre-test (50), post test of cycle 1 (70) and the cycle 2 (77). Besides, the improvement of the classroom situation includes: 1) the class was more alive because the students participate actively; 2) there was an equal participation during the speaking class; 3) the students were motivated to speak English than Indonesian; 4) the students’ interaction improved significantly.

Abstract

A strategy that can be used to implement KKNI is by improving the quality of human resources through learning at the college level. The enhancement of such qualified human resources are by developing a learning device in the form of teaching materials. This research aimed at developing KKNI oriented-materials (Indonesian National Qualification Framework) to strengthen Scientific Approach to mathematics teaching (lecturing) and evaluation. For this research, the descriptive method within quantitative approach was used to explore the subsurface of the problem referring a phase developed by Fenrich P, (2007). Moreover, the data collection techniques used were observation, test, and closedtype questionnaire. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques were mixed method to be analysed both descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that KKNI orientedteaching material development for strengthening the scientific approach, on the evaluation process lacture; and results of mathematics learning were categorized into being feasible or good.

Abstract

The life of Alan Turing was so inspiring. By all the oppression he got, he still kept going on to draw his dream. He was dreaming of breaking the nazi’s code to stop the world war II. His homosexuality and his introvert brought him to a complicated situation. The death of his friend christopher, he loved so much, brought him in sadness, and his individual character obstruct his ambition because he was discriminated by his surrounding. finally, he succeed to break the code and stop the world war II. However, Alan Turing got injustice in the end of his life. Alan is the real hero in England because he won the world war II. Unfortunately, England’s society do not know the real hero in their country because the government hide it. Alan underwent neurotic and realistic anxieties. Alan used defense mechanisms to cope his anxiety. This research applies psychoanalysis theory especially theory anxiety and defense mechanism by Sigmund Freud. Besides, the researcher uses the film theory to make readers more understand. This research explains about the forms, the factors on Alan Turing’s anxiety and the kinds of defense mechanisms Alan underwent in The Imitation Game movie. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative by conducting library research. As a result, Alan used some defense mechanism to cope his anxiety. Unfortunately, he could not keep his sickness anymore because of hormonal therapy. Then, he commited to suicide.

Abstract

Education forms a major cornerstone in the construction and development of human resources. The various educational activities have been carried out by this nation through educational institutions, both formal and non-formal or public and private education. Those intended to have the strong human resources, knowledge, competencies, skill, professionalism and qualified skill. Not only being above-mentioned, but also they have to master the international language as a means of communication in ASEAN free market or better known as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The shared and sinergized role can speed up Indonesia into developed countries. The government and the college can provide a significant role in building and improving the potency for developed countries. through various policy interventions, government can provide a breakthrough and an accelerating step toward advanced Indonesia in all sectors. The college, with a variety of educational activities, research and community services involving various parties for both nationally and internationally, can prepare the graduates who meet the demands of this times. 4,365 universities in Indonesia are state assets as a printer of qualified human resources and ready to compete to provide a great stimulus for the development of the Indonesian state.

Abstract

Making a decision is one of the roles that should be owned by every leader. This study discusses about the leadership pace of obligatory rural social internships for university students (KKN). The leadership here is meant to decision-making model of each group of KKN participants. This study aimed at uncovering decision-making models at Posdaya Thematic based-KKN STKIP PGRI Pacitan. Besides, it also aimed at revealing the disadvantages and advantages of each model possessed by each group. For this research, the descriptive qualitative design was used to explore the subsurface of the problem. The subject was the students participating in the 26th Posdaya thematic based-KKN, that are, group 11 and group 12 STKIP PGRI Pacitan. Furthermore, the data collection techniques are through interview, observation and documentation. Moreover, the technique of analysis was descriptive qualitative data analysis model of Miles and Huberman covering data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion as well as verification of data. The research findings showed that: (1) models of decision-making of group of 11 was based on the most powerful consideration. Meanwhile, the model of decision-making of group 12 was based on the aspect of significance; (2) the decision-making model has both advantages and disadvantages simultaneously. However, the existing weaknesses in the alternative based decision-making model can be covered by the advantage of the significance based decision making model ; and vice versa so that both can complement each other.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to describe teacher’s strategy in teaching mathematics on the topic of “exchanging money” to the first grade International Class Program’s students in SD Integral Luqman Al-Hakim Bojonegoro. The subject of this research was mathematics teacher and all students of I-A SD Integral Luqman Al-Hakim Bojonegoro. The data of this research was teacher’s strategy in teaching mathematics taken from the result of recording transcription of teaching and learning process through two observations. The data validity technique used in this study was member check, the process of data checking was taken by the researcher from the subject of the research to examine the possibilities of different assumptions. The result was that teachers described the topic of exchanging money to students through contextual teaching and learning by implementing contextual teaching and learning; where teachers used the market system on procedural knowledge, and used model on conceptual knowledge.
