Abstract

We review the progress in current understanding of the hypernuclear production through electromagnetic interaction. The motivation behind the interest in this investigation, i.e., the hyperon-nucleon force, is briefly overviewed. Special attention is given for the kaon productions on a deuteron and 3He. We also discuss some advantages of electromagnetic production of hypernucleus compared with the hadronic one.

Abstract

We have examined the movements of individual sunspots within two sunspot groups, NOAA 0375 in association with M7.3 flare appeared on 12 June 2003 and NOAA 9715 associated with M1.3 flare on 2 December 2001. For this purpose we measured the distance of two bipolar spots directly related to the flares with respect to a reference spot in the active region during the period before flare activity and estimated the average velocity of their movements. The main result is that the spots related with flares had average velocity greater than the flare-unrelated spots.

Abstract

Thin film of TiO2:Eu had been grown on an n-type Si(100) substrate using Metalorganic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) method with titanium (IV) isopropoxide [Ti{OCH(CH3)2}4] 99.99% and europium nitrate [Eu(NO3)3.6H2O] 99.99% as the metal organic precursors. The tetrahydrofuran (THF) was used as a solvent for the precursor. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the TiO2:Eu thin film grown at temperature of 450 οC had crystal planes of rutile (200), rutile (002) and anatase (211), whereas film grown at 500 οC resulted in a crystal plane of rutile (002) with columnar grain and surface morphology relatively smooth. On the other hand, film grown at temperature of 550 οC has rutile (200) and rutile (002) planes. The surface morphology of thin films TiO2:Eu was affected by Eu atom concentration. The roughness of surface morphology increased with increasing Eu content and therefore the grains became larger. It can be concluded that the crystal structure and surface morphology properties of the films depended significantly on the substrate temperature.

Abstract

Isoquercitrin (1), a flavonol monoglycoside showed a strong antimalarial activity. In order to identify the target protein in Plasmodium falciparum, a photoreactive isoquercitrin analog, 2-[2-[2-(biotinylaminoethoxy) ethoxy]-4-[3-(trifluoromethyl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl] benzoic acid isoquercitrinyl ester (2) has been synthesized which closely mimics the action of 1. Photoaffinity labeling of 2 revealed the apparent molecular mass of ca 70 kDa on the uninfected erythrocyte membrane.

Abstract

Let R be a commutative ring and C be an R-coalgebra which, as an R-module, is locally projective. This article describes some properties of a cohereditary C-comodule. The properties are derived by exploiting the closed connection between the C*-comodule category and the full subcategory of the C*-module category consisting of all C*-subgenerated C*-modules, where C* is the dual algebra of C.
