Abstract

Research about the effects of dextrin addition on the quality of coffee cube has been conducted. This research aims to know the effects of dextrin on the quality of block coffee. Full random design is used with ten treatments consisting of D0 (control) without dextrin, D1(0.5% dextrin), D2(1%), D3(1.5%), D4(2%), D5(2.5%), D6(3%), D7(3.5%), D8(4%), D9(4.5%),D10(5%), all treatments are repeated three times. The observed parameters include pH of the prepared coffee, moisture content, extra content, hardness of coffee and organoleptic test of prepared coffee taste. The result  of this research shows that the treatment has significant effect on moisture content, extra content, pH of the prepared coffee, the solubility, hardness and taste of coffee. Characteristics of block coffee with 0-3% dextrin addition produce moisture content in range of 6.31% to 6.60%, extract content in range of 29.41% to 59.72%, pH of prepared coffee in range 5.62% to 5.806%, solubility in range of 43.80% to 60.1%, and hardness of coffee in range of 0.21% to 0.59%. For organoleptic test on the taste of prepared coffee in treatments of D0 to D6, there is no significant effect on the taste of coffee while for treatments of D7 to D9 have significant effect. Dextrin addition under 3% does not have effect on the taste of coffee but dextrin addition above 3% will affect the taste of coffee.

Abstract

The research aimed to obtain the influence of natural rubber NR, synthetic rubber NBR and alumunium silikat (AISiO₃) as a filler, its physical properties and also to find out rubber compound the best for rubber mixture with variation of NR : NBR 50, 70 : 30, 90 : 10 hr and variation of aluminium silikat (ASiO₂) 45 phr, 50 phr, 55 phr. The result showed that the addition of rubber NR : NBR ratio and alumunium silikat (ASiO₂) had significant effect on the hardness, tensile strength, abration recistance and compression set. The addition of rubber NR : NBR ratio and alumunium silikat (ASiO₂) gave significant effect on the density of the rubber roll CPO compound. The best treatment was found to be the N₂P₂ (the addition of rubber NR : NBR = 70 : 30 phr and alumunium silikat 50 phr) with the rubber roll CPO compound’s characteristics of 78 shore A for hardness, 228 kg/cm2  for the tensile strength, 87,6 kg/cm2 for the abration recistance and 22,60% for the compression set.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine a proper formulation in rubber compound processing by addition of jarak oil epoxy to make rubber washer compound the quality specification. The experimental design used in this study was Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with two replications and two factors. The first factor was the concentration of epoxidized castor oil (P1 : 3 phr, A2 : 2 phr and A3 : 3 phr). The tested parameters were hardness, elongation at break, abrasive resistance and flex resistance, The result showed that the addition castor oil and antioxidants and its interaction had significant effect on the elongation at break and abration resistance. The addition of epoxide castor oil gave insignificant effect on the hardness of the rubber compound. The best treatment was found at epoxy castor oil concentration of 3 phr and antioxidant of 3 phr having characteristic of rubber washer compound that consisted hardness 48 Shore A, elongation at break 2682%, abrasive Resistance 131 DIN mm and flex resistance : no flex.

Abstract

Laboratory waste water is categorized as a toxic and hazardous waste. Research on laboratory waste water treatment which is resulted from COD analysis by applying coagulation, filration, adsorption and ion exchange in one step intergrated method has been done, in a laboratory scale of 1 liter volume of laboratory waste water. The purpose of this research is to get the optimum condition of treatment by variation the kind and concentration of coagulant, and the contact time in the adsorption process. Percentage decrease of pollutant has been observed through the measurement of some parameters such as: Total Dissolved Solid (TDS); Heavy metals such as iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), and chromium (Cr), ammoniac and acidity (pH). The resultof this research that the best coagulant was 1 g/L Alum sulphate (AL2(SO4)3) and contact time was 2,5-5 minute. The result of analysis integrated laboratory waste water had been treated with batch system able to reduced total dissolved solution (TDS) 78,61 – 91,23%. Heavy metals Fe 97,61% - 99,99%, Mn 45,53% - 99,88%, Cr 92,54% - 99,98% and ammoniac 22,54% - 91,82%. Acidity (pH) of final laboratory waste water was 8,93.

Abstract

The influences of liquid smoke from pyrolisis of sawdust of rubber wood (Hevea brasiliensis M) and gelam wood (Melaleuca leucadendron L) on qualities of processed rubber material were studied. The experiment was designed using factorial completely randomized design with two factors for crumb rubber study, i.e liquid smoke from sawdust of rubber wood (Hevea brasiliensis M) (0%, 5%, 10% and 15%). And gelam wood (Melaleuca leucadendron L) (0%, 5%, 10% and 15%). Observed parameters were diameter of inhibition zones and total plate count. The addition of liquid smoke into crumb rubber could inhibit the bacterial growth, showed by clear zone of 2000 mm in diameter produced around the liquid smoke spot (treatmen K10G15) and total plate count of 2,92 log CFU/ml (treatmen K10G15).

Abstract

The research aimed to study the effect of temperature and Hydrocxilamin Netral Sulphat (HNS)  to characteristics of vulcanization wiper blade. Temperature vulcanization used for the research was varied at 130 oC, 150 oC, 170 oC and Hydrocxilamin Netral Sulphat (HNS) at 5 phr, 10 phr. The result show that the effect temperature of vulcanization and Hydrocxilamin Netral Sulphat (HNS) consentration had significant effect on the scorch time (ts2), optimum cure time (t90), vulcanization rate, and modulus torsi (t) rubber compound wiper blade. The best treatment was found to be the T2H2(the addition of temperature 150 oC and HNS 10 phr) with characteristic of vulcanization wiper blade compound of 2,25 minute for the scorch time, 4 minute for the optimum cure time, 12, 12 minute for the vulcanization rate and 82kg.cm for the torcy modulus.

Abstract

A microprocessor-based laboratory dryer system was constructed to control experimental conditions in the study of the moisture content of agricultural products and medicinal plants (simplicia). The equipment also recorder the condition of the air and the sample weights during the thin-layer drying tests for these products. This paper describes the hardware and software which were developed for use in the study of drying properties of various products. Two condition process variables are controlled simulataneously: the humidity and temperature of the air in drying chamber with temperature accuracy of ± 1 oC and relative humidity accuracy of ± 2%. The drying conditions were held constant and the variation in conditions in the drying chamber was shown to have no measurable effect on the thin-layer drying process subject to requirement of ASABE standard.

Abstract

Pasta is a kind of food made from wheat flour, water and other additional ingredients. This research was aimed to know the impact of wheat flour substitution with maize flour in pasta making. Preliminary research was done to found the better formulate between CMC, STPP, wheat flour and maize flour in pasta making and resulted good formula between wheat flour ad maize flour were 90% : 10%: 80%: 20%: and 70%: 30%. These formulate were used for the main research and the best formulated were resulted on 90% wheat flour and 10% maize flour water content was 9,10% which near to control value 8,14%. Rehydration potential was 9,93 minute and elasticity value 792,4 N/m2 which almost similar the elasticity control value 810,73N/m2.
