Abstract

Material models are always required to know the characteristics (physical and mechanical properties) of the soil layer at the site by using analysis of geotechnical studies that have been done in the field and in laboratories. Soils such as clay, silty clay and peat show a high degree of compressibility compared to other soils. In oedometer testing, the consolidated clay normally behaves up to ten times softer than the normally consolidated sand. This study aims to determine the soft consolidation behavior of soft clay primers by comparing the results obtained from finite element analysis calculations on Plaxis 2D with analytical calculations and survey measurements. Two different material models were used during finite element calculations, comparing the performance of Soft Soil Model, SSM models to the Mohr-Coulomb Model (MCM) model commonly used today. Practical geotechnical analysis of stability of embankment construction is done by using Plaxis 8 computer program, based on Finite Element Method to analyze deformation value and safety factor with construction phase of consolidation. Abstract

The uncertainty and complexity of construction projects often result in conflicts and unavoidable claims. Commonly, claims are submitted by the contractor for additional payment or time extensions triggered by the additional works beyond general terms and contract conditions. Unsuitable claims may lead to disputes so there is a need for claims management to avoid potential disputes. Claims can not be avoided in any construction project, but a properly executed management approach is expected to reduce the impact of claim that leads to disputes. Evaluation to problems in the six stages of claims management was conducted through questionnaires distribution to project owner and analyzing using significance index approach. The problems that often arise in each phase are elaborated in a form of Likert question. The results of field data collection are processed to obtain the most significant problems arisen in each claim management phase. The results indicate that from the six phases of claims management, the problems that often arise are related to four aspects, namely the availability of standard in claims management, the availability of competent human resources handling claims, the limitation of communication ability, and the limited ability to document the implementation of the project. Keywords:claims management, owner, contruction project, significance index

Abstract

One of asphalt mixture being developed is Cold Bituminous Emulsion Mixtures (CBEMs) that its performances need to be improved. Within this experiment it is done by adding epoxy. The objective of this study was to analyze the characteristic of CBEMs with and without epoxy. Epoxy variation was 1%, 3%, and 6% by weight of residual bitumen. The epoxy was mix with hardener in ratio 1:3, then mixed with bituminous emulsion. Epoxy was added into the Optimum Residual Bitumen Content (ORBC) of 7,5%. The aggregate was dampened with water first then mixed with emulsion that had been added with epoxy, then compacted. It was found that CBEMs added with 1% and 3% epoxy met the specifications, however CBEMs with 6% of epoxy did not, because the porosity was 17,83% (spec.5%-10%). The soaked stability of the mixture without and with epoxy 3% was 1177,02 kg and 1416,47 kg. Addition of 3% epoxy increase soaked stability up to 20%. In stiffness, creep, and fatigue tests, CBEMs without epoxy compared by CBEMs with 3% of epoxy, respectively gave result: stiffness 1854 MPa: 959 MPa (-48,27%); strain at 106 loads repetition (Nf) was 78,09 µ?: 93,22 µ? (+19,38%); Nf at strain 100 µ? was 358.897 times: 539.585 times (+50,35%); creep slope was 23,752: 39,939 (sample was collapsed before 3600 loads repetition). However, epoxy caused the mix stiffer hence increase the porosity of the mixture to 20%. It is suggested to reduce the hardener content of the epoxy, to manitain workability and reduce porosity. Abstract

The Advancement of Science and Technology made Indonesians increasingly concerned about education at the university so that the increasing of students must be balanced with the development of education building infrastructure. In 2015, have been built 3 floors which functioned as offices for Dean Faculty of Engineering Untirta, but in the process of implementation is done re-design with the addition of 3 floors above it to meet space requirement at the Faculty of Engineering Untirta. This research was conducted to re-analyze the deflection of structure building in order to know the deflection of structures due to the addition of load and the effect of earthquake force, so that can be evaluated to plan the addition of floor as much as 3 floors in Faculty of Engineering Untirta building structure. The analytical method used are the equivalent static analysis and dynamic response spectrum analysis using the computer program Extended Three dimensional Analysis Building System (ETABS). Resulted from 3D model analysis with the addition of 3 floors, the behavior of structures in the modes 1,2 and 3 respectively happened translations X direction, Y direction and Z axis rotation. Base shear force that occurred for 1.549.45 kN at X direction and 1.581,06 kN at Y direction. Maximum deflection that happened at 298,65 mm due to earthquake load X direction, 249,59 mm due to earthquake load Y direction. The deflection value has exceeded the allowable deflection limit of 186 mm, so that the existing structures cannot resist against the working load due to the addition of the floor according to the design standard of SNI 03-1726-2012.

Abstract

Urbanization is a common issue faced by many authorities. Urban population is steadily growing which requires more land for housing and other activities. Predicting urban growth pattern has been challenging efforts for planners. Many models have been developed by various researchers and practitioners to give a glimpse of possible future lookout of the city. This paper attempts to explain the basic of Bucket model, where new inhabitants will fill the more developed urban areas then spill over to less developed urban area and finally to rural areas bordering urban regions. This model is using a grid map as patches in the Agent Based Model (ABM). Each grid cell is filled with land use, population density, and other data to show its advantages compared to others. New inhabitants as the agent can move freely among the grid cells until an appropriate cell is found. Restrictions should be introduced to for each cell to limit the growth. This paper shows the initial idea of an urban growth simulation using ABM. Keywords: Urban Growth Model; Agent Based Model; Urbanization; Grid Map; Geographic Information System

Abstract

The road handling and installation of utilities in Denpasar City is still running based on the work program of each agency and has not been integrated. The authorities of the utilities repair and improve the network based on consumer demand, however, the implementation has not been integrated between the utilities installation and road handling program. Consequently, the reinstatement of pavement conditions is not optimal and can potentially damage the utility network. This paper aims to analyze existing condition of the road handling and installation of utilities and barriers to conducting synergy of program between the road handling and installation of utilities. Data was collected using questionnaire survey to respondents that selected by purposive sampling method. The result shows that currently, the synergy condition of the road handling and installation of utilities in Denpasar City is only based on coordination among the stakeholders regarding approval to install the utility network. The barriers to integrated utility implementation include ineffective implementation of coordination and collaboration between related stakeholders, ineffective involvement stakeholder in decision making, unavaibility of vision and mission of stakeholders to alter the program, stakeholder ‘s resistance to change, limited budget allocation on road handling lack of stakeholder’s innovation, high cost of operational and maintenance, and unavailability of stakeholders who initiate the integrated program. Key words: synergy, stakeholders, integrated management

Abstract

Since rainfall and surface water availability is limited, Lombok island has high risk drought. Drought causes poverty due to its close corellation to desease spread and lack of food. So it needs to recognize drought characteristic for early anticipation and adaptation. Standardized Precipitation Index is the method to be used to determine rainfall deviation from its normal depth. SPI was chosen because of its simplicity and ability to count the index of drought and figure its grade. Data for this analyses was taken from 1996-2015 of rainfall station entire Lombok Island, then the result figured out in a drought map using Arc GIS. The result of this study shows that the severest drought for annually deficit period indexed -3.25 was happened at Lingkuk Lime on 2002, then for 6 monthly deficit period indexed -4.97 happened at Sekotong on July-December 2000, afterwards for 3 monthly deficit period indexed -4.72 happened at Loang Make on Pebruary-April 2002, later for monthly deficit period indexed -4.99 happened at Jurang Sate on January 2015. Keywords: drought index, deficit period, SPI, Arc GIS.

Abstract

Truss frames are often applied with bridges. Bridges are structures that require early handling to find out the damage and ensure that the bridge is safe. The damage to the bridge element will affect the overall behavior of the bridge. Common cause of bridge damage is reduction of cross section (due to corrosion) and material quality decrease. Damage that occurs need monitoring to avoid the occurrence of structural failure, monitoring is needed. The analysis with program to model the reduction of cross-section by 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Truss frames are modeled with a load of P = 3kg. The damage model is limited by 8 cases for section reduction. The reduction of the cross section will result in a decrease in the stiffness of the structure, resulting in changes in displacement values ??and shear forces occurring. The displacement increased by 3% -5% when a reduction was made to the cross section. Join 4 (the middle of the span) has the greatest damage value when compared to other joints of -0.000003489 m, at number 1,7 displacement value is 0 m. In various scenarios the greatest damage is due to the reduction of C rod where the displacement and force increases significance. When the C rod is damaged shear force is increases 6%. The rod that experiences the largest shear force of the D rod (right side C) is then followed by the rods of the support area and the rod that is damaged itself. Keywords: truss frame damage, displacement, cross section reduction, shear force

Abstract

The concept of a sustainable and environmental transportation system emphasizes the widespread use of public transport, but the fact is very contrary to the development of the motorization trend era in Asian countries, especially the use of private vehicles motorcycles type. This is very closely related to the low functionality of public transport utilities, so it is not interesting to use. The success in the implementation of sustainable transportation policy is highly depended on the situation and condition of a city and the approach and understanding of the characteristics of society behavior, so that in the development of a city's public transport system there are not only technical and economic considerations but also community (social) preference consideration as an important part that unignoreable. This research specifically aimed to respond the community preferences using Multinomial Logit (MNL) model on several development scenarios of public transportation system in Palangka Raya based on scenario of road network pattern, traffic flow characteristic and land use type where the scenario analyzed using Analytic Hierarchy Procces (AHP) based on key parameters such as costs, construction and planning time, passenger capacity, flexibility, velocity, influence on city development and environment. The results of the study based on AHP analysis and regression analysis on community responses provided clear guidance on appropriate scenarios developed in Palangka Raya City where one of the main factor in the implementation consideration was the financial capability of the city. Final conclusion, the development of public transportation system scenario of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) model equipped with feeder became a worthy considered option by the government of Palangka Raya City. Abstract

Indonesia has rich natural resources including water resources. The abundance of water resources is characterized by an annual rainfall averaging about 2790 mm. Jatiluhur irrigation area is one of large irrigation system in Indonesia which plays main role for national food and agriculture defense. It receives water from Djuanda Multipurpose Reservoir located in Citarum River West Java Indonesia. This reservoir is responsible to irrigate 240,000 ha paddy field, raw water for domestic municipal industrial (DMI) and hydropower generation. The water is released from the reservoir to Curug Diversion Weir where the water is diverted to West Tarum Canal (WTC), East Tarum Canal (ETC) and North Tarum Canal (NTC). Mechanisms for water allocation and distribution are professionally managed by Jasa Tirta II Public Corporation (PJT II). Although provision of irrigation system seems performing well, some aspects still need improvement and development. The important issue for improvement is quality and reliability of basic data required to prepare the water allocation plan and distribution schedule. Taking into account future developments which will increase combined water demand. Consequently, there is a need to investigate how efficient the system is working currently and which improvements can be proposed to increase overall water use efficiency. Water balance in the Jatiluhur irrigation system theoretically capable to fulfill water demand until 2025 but climate change issue should be considered as period of dry season and wet season will be shifted. Based on the research scenario, dry season will be longer and wet season will be shorter with more intense rainfall. Keywords: Jatiluhur irrigation area, Djuanda multipurpose reservoir, water allocation & distribution, water efficiency, water balance
