Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know an effect of the lactate acid bacteria inoculants of toward Gmelina arborea forage as feeding material. The significance of this research is hopefully as direction and information about using Gmelina arborea forage effectively and efficiently. The research was experimental method by completely randomized design. In the type of inoculants treatment is Lactobacillus collinoides, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, the mixture (compounding between Lactobacillus collinoides, Lactobacillus delbrueckii 1:1), and giving treatment to the incubation length for about 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 21 days in the nested of bacterial types factorial. Each treatment is repeated for 3 times. The result showed that lactic acid bacteria inoculant affects affected to the content of NDF, ADF, cellulose, and affected in invitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and invitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD) of Gmelina arborea forage as well. The Lactobacillus delbrueckii inoculant is the most effective to defend the lost of NDF, ADF and cellulose, and to defend the decrease of IVDMD and IVOMD during ensilages. The bacterial inoculums Lactobacillus delbrueckii is able to accelerate quality reduction stagnation of NDF, ADF and cellulose, and IVDMD and IVOMD for five days, while others for ten days. It is suggested to obtain good forage ensiling in Gmelina arborea forage, it is better to use Lactobacillus delbrueckii inoculant.

Abstract

Grazing land or rangeland is an “eating table” of ruminants and/or other herbivores for supporting their life. The adequacy and uptake of essential nutrients such as dry matter, protein and energy are very much determined by quality and phenology of pasture vegetation. The phenology of grass influences directly to ingestive behaviour of the herbivores. During grazing time, ruminant animals/herbivores tend to select the pastures that are easy to be prehended for fulfilling their dry matter requirement. Therefore, monitoring and recording the diurnal ingestive or grazing behaviour of ruminant animals or other herbivores would be as useful bioindicator for understanding the change of growth and availability of grass on pasture and/or rangeland. This behavioral aspect of ruminants is also useful clue and effective information to be considered for managing the grassland developments. This paper reviews and discusses the ingestive behaviour of ruminants as one of bioindicators determining the phenology of grass and dynamics of grasslands or rangelands.

Abstract

Latosols soil conditions are poor in nutrients and tailing of gold mine contain heavy metal causes low productivity of forage. The objective of this research to study the best combination of soil potential microorganisms and soil conditioner that can promote the growth and production of legume crops Calopogonium mucunoides Desv. Seven treatments used were A: control, B: arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), C: AMF + Rhizobium, D: AMF + Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (BPF), E: AMF + Humic Acid, F: AMF + BPF + Rhizobium, G: AMF + BPF + Humic Acid + Rhizobium. Variables measured were the root dry weight, shoot dry weight, spread length, number of trifoliate leaves, the number of active root nodules, the percentage of root infection. Augmentation of soil microorganisms and soil conditioner not effective enough to improve plant growth of Calopogonium mucunoides Desv because plants can still adapt and grow well on latosols. Plants grown on tailings provide the best response is G (AMF+ Humic Acid + Rhizobium), although the rate of growth is not as good as plants grown in latosols.

Abstract

The role of cattle as a source of food for the community in the form of meat. The problem of cattle population in North Sulawesi tend to decrease. The slow growth of the cattle population is determined by external factors such as feed. Based on these ideas, has made   the study of food forage introduction of cattle in South Minahasa. Premise that cattle is a commodity that the government should pursue policies relating to the availability of forage continuously. Forage fodder is a major food or feed for livestock and is the basis of life in the animal husbandry development effort. To increase the productivity of livestock, one of the important factors that must be considered is the provision of good quality feed year round and enough quantity. In response to the government policy in South Minahasa has made   the development of cattle forage food. In conclusion, the introduction of green fodder is very beneficial to farmers in the development of cattle ranchers. Based on the introduction of forage necessary assistance to livestock farmers for forage management.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the West Timor savanna productive at different season. The location of this study is in the station of Lili field, Assessment Institute for Agricultural Technology Naibonat Kupang, with 40 hectare of savannah for pasture, held in one year. The data collected are botanical composition, production, feed intake in savannah and forage quality also the carrying capacity. The data analyzed descriptively. The amount of goat used for measurement of feed intake in savannah is 10 does. The result showed that the averages of forage fluctuation available is between 0.61-4,33 ton/hectare. The lowest point of production is happened in the edge of dry season (October) that is 0.61 ton/hectare. Then it increases in early of rainy (December) and reaches the highest point in the early of dry season (April). From this point, then it decreases and reach the lowest point in October, so, the forage production in nature was increases in December. The composition rate of CP is very varied, that is 2.71-9.48%. The composition of CP in nature grass has no significant difference with the composition in other locations of Timor, that is 2.26 % in the ends of dry season and become 8-10% in the rainy. Most of forage on the pasture is nature grass that is upper 90% and relative less of leguminous plants. The lack proportion of leguminous plants in nature savannah result in the less of forage quality, especially during the dry season there is no legume proportion and the quality of nature grass become very low.

Abstract

Phosphorus (P) is one of the essential nutrients for plants that availability is strongly influenced by soil pH. In acid soils, most of the P is given will form insoluble compounds and is not available to plants. Phosphate solubilizing bacteria is a soil microorganism that can improve the provision ofP in acid soils. The study aimed to determine the effect of Phosphate solubilizing bacteria on the productivity of tropical kudzu was conducted using a completely randomized design with four treatments ie without isolate (I0), standard isolate (I1), isolate B.80.1649-1 (I2) and isolate B.80.1649-8 (I3), each treatment was repeated four times. The results showed that both isolates were isolated and selection were able to increase the length of the plants, number of leaves, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, shoot P content,  N uptake, P uptake, and production of crude protein of tropical kudzu (Pueraria phaseoloides Benth.). The ability of isolates B.80.1649-1 higher than isolates B.80.1649-8, and comparable with standard isolate.
