Abstract

Integrasi pastura dan ternak sapi ke dalam sistem pertanian berbasis kelapa diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan lahan secara berkelanjutan. Percobaan ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh stocking ratedan sistem penggembalaan terhadap keragaan pastura. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan Balai Penelitian Kelapa dan Palma Lain (BALITKA) Manado sejak Juli 2009 sampai Juni 2010. Perlakuan terdiridari dua sistem penggembalaan dan tiga stocking rate diatur dalam pola petak terpisah yang didasarkan pada rancangan acak kelompok (RAK). Variabel yang diukur adalah jumlah tanaman induk, jumlah ground tiller,jumlah aerial tiller, bobot akar dan bobot crown. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa semua parameter keragaan pastura yang terbaik diperoleh pada interaksi antara sistem penggembalaan rotasi (SP2) dan stockingrate 2,31 UT (SR3).

Abstract

Jurnal pastura kali ini merangkum berbagai manuskrip tentang tumbuhan pakan tropikdari berbagai aspek budidaya dan pengembangan Ipteks tumbuhan pakan tropik. Jurnalpastura kali ini mengungkap hasil riset Ipteks tumbuhan pakan antara lain: Efektivitaspemanfaatan mikoriza, peningkatan pertumbuhan dan produksi rumput lokal, pembinaankelompok tani terkait peningkatan produksi hijauan dan pengolahan bahan pakan dalambentuk silase juga telah menjadi pencermatan bagi ilmuwan tumbuhan pakan.

Abstract

The aim of research is to knows the effect of additive addition on solid waste from Arengan    pinnata    mills industry. A randomize complete design was used in this research. The treatments are addition of 5% molasses (P1), addition of 5% sludge of soy souce industry (P2), addition of 1% Urea (P3), addition of 5% molasses and 1% Urea (P4), and addition of 5% sludge of soy souce industry and 1% Urea (P5). Each treatment was replicated 4 times. The observe objects are degree of acidity, lactic acid dan ammonia content, contents of fiber fraction (Neutral Detergent Fiber, NDF; and Acid Detergent Fiber, ADF), crude protein content, ammonia production in rumen, and in vitro digestibility dry matter (IVDDM) and in vitro digestibility organic matter (IVDOM). Data were analyzed by variant analyses, and followed by Duncan Multipel Range Test. The research result showed that the treatments significantly effected on degree of acidity, lactic acid dan ammonia content, contents of fiber fraction (Neutral Detergent Fiber, NDF; and Acid Detergent Fiber, ADF), crude protein content, ammonia production in rumen, and in vitro digestibility dry matter (IVDDM) and in vitro digestibility organic matter (IVDOM). Addition 1% Urea and 5% Sludge of soy souce industry is the best result on nutrition quality of solid waste from arenga pinnata mills.

Abstract

Utilization of palm kernel meal in the diet was evaluated on the chemical composition and cholesterol content of pig. Twelve of 36 weeks old landrace barrow, average weight gain 93-97 kg was used in this experiment. Two diets RI without palm kernel meal and R II with 22% palm kernel meal were applied to the animals. Energy, crude protein content of R I and R II were 3313 kcal DE/kg and 12.32% CP and 3329 kcal DE/kg and 13.26 % CP respectively. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with four treatments were R I6 (the animals were fed RI for 6 weeks period), R I4 R II2 (the animals were fed R I for 4 weeks and R II for the last 2 weeks), R I2 R II4 the animals were fed R I for the first 2 weeks and R II for the last 4 weeks) and R II6 (the animals were fed RII for 6 weeks period). Each treatment was replicated three times with one pigs for each replicated. The result of this experiment showed that cholesterol content on ham, chemical composition (water, crude protein and ether extract) of loin and ham were not signification, loin cholesterol content on RI4, RII2, RI2 RII4 and RII6 was 24.40 ; 13.50, and 28.80% respectively and less than RI6. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know an effect of the lactate acid bacteria inoculants of toward Gmelina arborea forage as feeding material.The significance of this research is hopefully as direction and information about using Gmelina arborea forage effectively and efficiently. The research was experimental method by completely randomized design. In the type of inoculants treatment is Lactobacillus collinoides, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, the mixture (compounding between Lactobacillus collinoides, Lactobacillus delbrueckii 1:1), and giving treatment to the incubation length for about 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 21 days in the nested of bacterial types factorial. Each treatment is repeated for 3 times. The result showed that lactic acid bacteria inoculant affects affected to the content of NDF, ADF, cellulose, and affected in invitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and invitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD) of Gmelina arborea forage as well. The Lactobacillus delbrueckii inoculant is the most effective to defend the lost of NDF, ADF and cellulose, and to defend the decrease of IVDMD and IVOMD during ensilages. The bacterial inoculums Lactobacillus delbrueckii is able to accelerate quality reduction stagnation of NDF, ADF and cellulose, and IVDMD and IVOMD for five days, while others for ten days. It is suggested to obtain good forage ensiling in Gmelina arborea forage, it is better to use Lactobacillus delbrueckii inoculant.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the types of weeds and their nutrition content that grow in the planting area of crops in Batur district, Banjarnegara regency potential as ruminant feed. The results showed that at least there were seven types / species of weeds that grows in the Batur village and is often used as an animal feed that were Axonopus compresus (Swarttz) Beauv, Alternanthera sesilis (L) D, C, Lantana camara L., Nasturtium montanum Wall, Commelina benghalensis L ., Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers, Digitaria adscendens (HBK) Henr. Results of the proximate analysis showed that the weeds have crude protein content ranged from 8.02 to 23.66% and crude fiber content ranged from 19.87 - 39.36%. It could be concluded that the weeds contain crude protein and crude fiber that were pretty good for ruminants. Keywords: weeds, ruminants, crude protein, crude fiber

Abstract

Environmental friendly agriculture needs technology application which is adaptable to environment. Among other is application of soil conservation. However the research on integration of forages in soil conservation is conducted about last 30 years. Yet, not all of research results are adopted by farmers; there are lots of problems in application. The paper present research results of forages as soil conservation crops, especially in upper watershed which is done at many places for about more than 25 years. The outline of the paper is not based on time or region of works but more on the methods applied. The methods of soil conservation are (a) planting of forages on terraced sloping land, (b) grass strip, (c) three strata system, (d) cover crops and (e) alley cropping. On the other hand the problems of forages as soil conservation crops are also presented, (a) lack of socialize of the importance of forages and (b) unfamiliar of very good cover crops businesses.

Abstract

Forage as the main feed for ruminants needs to be considered for availability throughout the year. Factors that influence the availability of forage for feed throughout the year are the influence of the season, the condition of the land, and the presence of soil microorganism. One of the important soil microorganism is nitrogen fixing bacteria (N). This study aimed to determine the population of nitrogen fixing bacteria and soil characteristics in the rhizosphere of legumes and grass at dry land in rainy season. The study was conducted at the Research Station of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Pengotan Village, Bangli Regency, followed by a sample analysis at the Animal Production and Microbiology Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and the Laboratory of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University for 3 months. The design used was a completely randomized design consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The five treatments were non rhizosphere (NR), Gliricidia sepium rhizosphere (RG), Stylosanthes guianensis rhizosphere (RS), Brachiaria decumbens rhizosphere (RB), and Pennisetum purpureum rhizosphere (RP). The variables observed in this study are the population of N-fixing bacteria, N elements, soil acidity (pH), soil temperature, and soil texture. The data obtained from this study were analyzed using annova, if there were significant differences (P<0.05) the analysis was continued by Duncan’s multiple range test. The results showed that the population of N-fixing bacteria, N elements, and soil texture were not significantly different, while the acidity (pH) and soil temperature were significantly different influenced by the rhizosphere of the plant. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the population of N fixing bacteria, N elements, and soil texture was not affected by the rhizosphere of the plant, the acidity (pH) of the soil decreases in all rhizosphere of plants, while the soil of temperature increases in Gliricidia sepium and Pennisetum purpureum rhizosphere. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari potensi ketersediaan dan kandungan zat makanan hijauan yang tumbuh di lahan kampus Universitas Andalas di luar lahan UPT Fakultas Peternakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei dan pengamatan langsung ke lapangan, Data hasil penelitian kemudian dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan analisis sidik ragam, yang terdiri atas 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Sedangkan, parameter yang diukur adalah produksi biomass, komposisi botanis, kapasitas tampung, kandungan zat makanan (Air, BK, PK, SK dan LK) dan kandungan mineral makro (Ca, Na, P, S, Mg dan K) serta mineral mikro (Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn, Co, dan Se). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan zat makanan, produksi biomass, kapasitas tampung dan kandungan mineral (makro dan mikro) menunjukkan perbedaan yang tidak nyata (P>0,05) pada tiga topografi. Jenis tanaman pada topografi datar dan miring didominasi oleh alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica) masing-masing 69,3% dan 56,2% sedangkan pada topografi gelombang didominasi oleh rumput pahit (Axonopus compressus) yang mencakup sekitar 54,4%. Pada topografi datar kandungan protein kasarnya lebih tinggi 9,8% BK. Pada topografi gelombang PK nya tinggi 9,4% BK sedangkan pada topografi miring PK paling rendah 8,9% BK. Produksi hijauan segar pada daerah yang datar merupakan produksi hijauan segar yang paling tinggi yaitu 65356,9 kg/ha/th. Sedangkan produksi hijauan kering tertinggi adalah pada topografi miring 12180,13 kg/ha/th. Kapasitas tampung per hektar (ST/ha) pada setiap topografi berkisar antara 1,68 (ST/ha) sampai 2,22 (ST/ha). Kapasitas tampung tertinggi adalah pada lahan miring 2,22 (ST/ha) dan disusul oleh lahan yang bertopografi datar 2,13 (ST/ha). Sedangkan pada lahan yang bergelombang memiliki kapasitas tampung terendah yaitu 1,68 (ST/ha). Kandungan mineral pada setiap topografi juga menunjukkan perbedaan yang tidak nyata. Mineral makro tertinggi terdapat pada lahan yang bertopografi datar P 1,03 g/kg BK, Mg 1,53 g/kg BK, K 13,03 g/kg BK, Na 15,84 g/kg BK, S 0,17 g/kg BK kecuali Ca 8,13 g/kg BK. Sedangkan kandungan mineral mikro tertinggi berada pada topografi miring Zn 36,16 mg/kg BK, Fe 804,00 mg/kg BK, Mn 171,52 mg/kg BK kecuali Cu 16,03 mg/kg BK. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa hijauan yang tumbuh di lahan kampus Universitas Andalas Limau Manis di luar lahan UPT Peternakan berpotensi sebagai pakan ternak ruminan. Rumput yang berasal dari topografi datar relatif lebih baik dari kandungan zat makanan maupun mineralnya.Kata kunci : Produksi hijauan, kapasistas tampung, komposisi zat makanan
