Abstract

Abstract: Effect of Self Efficacy and Work Environment on Transfer of Hotel Employee Training in Palembang. The training program is one of the important activities and becomes one of the organization's investment in human resources. Self-efficacy is one of the most important variables in training that one's self-efficacy before training has a significant influence on increasing one's motivation to learn. Individual factors influencing self-efficacy are job involvement, organizational commitment and work environment. The work environment is an important factor that will affect the successful transfer of knowledge and skills gained in the training to the workplace of each trainee. In this study, the star hotels in Palembang became the location of the research. Palembang is one of the international cities in Indonesia. Many international events have been and will be held in Palembang, one of them is the forthcoming ASEAN Games 2018, which will be held in August 2018. The sample used in this research was 353 employees from 21 star hotels in the city of Palembang. The employees involved in the training had been selected by the hotels, especially those who frequently interact with hotel customers. Furthermore, sampling technique used was purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis technique. The results of this study show that the variables of self-efficacy and work environment have positive influences both simultaneously and partially on the transfer of training of star hotel employees in Palembang. Abstrak: Pengaruh Self Efficacy Dan Lingkungan Kerja Terhadap Transfer Pelatihan Karyawan Hotel Di Palembang. Program pelatihan adalah salah satu kegiatan penting dan menjadi salah satu investasi organisasi dalam sumber daya manusia. Self-efficacy adalah salah satu variabel terpenting dalam pelatihan bahwa self-efficacy seseorang sebelum pelatihan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan motivasi seseorang untuk belajar. Faktor individu yang mempengaruhi efikasi diri adalah keterlibatan kerja, komitmen organisasi dan lingkungan kerja. Lingkungan kerja merupakan faktor penting yang akan mempengaruhi keberhasilan transfer pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperoleh dalam pelatihan ke tempat kerja masing-masing peserta pelatihan. Dalam penelitian ini, hotel-hotel berbintang di Palembang menjadi lokasi penelitian. Palembang adalah salah satu kota internasional di Indonesia. Banyak acara internasional telah dan akan diadakan di Palembang, salah satunya adalah ASEAN Games 2018 yang akan datang, yang akan diadakan pada Agustus 2018. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 353 karyawan dari 21 hotel berbintang di kota Palembang. Para karyawan yang terlibat dalam pelatihan telah dipilih oleh hotel-hotel, terutama mereka yang sering berinteraksi dengan pelanggan hotel. Selanjutnya, teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah metode purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel self-efficacy dan lingkungan kerja memiliki pengaruh positif baik secara simultan maupun sebagian terhadap transfer pelatihan karyawan hotel berbintang di Palembang. Kata Kunci: self-efficacy, lingkungan kerja, transfer pelatihan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui implementasi pemberdayaan karyawan (Employee Empowerment) di PT. FIF Group Cabang Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Sumber data yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer, yaitu data yang diperoleh langsung dari sumbernya dengan cara menyebarkan kuesioner. Pengumpulan data di lakukan dengan metode kuesioner, sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 74 responden dengan metode proportional cluster random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat diketahui bahwa secara keseluruhan pemberdayaan karyawan P.T. FIF Group Cabang Palembang sudah baik. Pemberdayaan karyawan yang paling dominan adalah accountability. Sedangkan pemberdayaan yang terendah adalah trust dan confident.The objective of this research is to observe the implementation of employee empowerment model at PT. FIF Group in Palembang region. Descriptive analysis was used in this study. The primary data were collected by using questionare. The sample of this study was 74 respondent. Which were selected by using proportional cluster random sampling method. The analysis used employee’s perception about empowerment. The result of this research indicates that empowerment is good. The most dominant employee empowerment was accountablity. Meanwhile the lowest were trust and confidence.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ) selama pandemi telah mendapatkan banyak evaluasi dari setiap institusi atau satuan pendidikan. Seperti kebanyakan sekolah, Seminari Menengah Santo Paulus Palembang sebagai dormitory school juga mengalami tantangan dalam menjalankan pembelajaran dengan tetap mengutamakan mutu. Satu kebijakan yang diambil adalah program seminaris diaspora - siswa tinggal di paroki asal mereka atau unit pastoral terdekat dengan tempat tinggal mereka. Selama program diaspora, seminaris tetap mendapatkan materi belajar dan pendampingan rohani yang memadahi dan berkesinambungan, baik dari pamong seminari maupun pastor paroki tempat mereka tinggal. Melalui program ini, siswa mendapatkan pendampingan tentang self-management selama pembelajaran jarak jauh dan bagaimana penggunaan media google classroom dalam proses pembelajaran secara umum dan dalam English writing secara khusus. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode workshop, pendampingan, dan praktik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner dan tes. Peserta kegiatan adalah siswa kelas akhir (rethorica) yang berjumlah 37 orang yang diselenggarakan pada bulan Juli – September 2020. Umpan balik dari peserta memberikan gambaran bahwa 2 materi tersebut dapat diterima oleh siswa dan aplikasi google classroom pada kegiatan writing dapat berjalan dengan lancar. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil kuesioner dan hasil tes English writing peserta. Abstract: The distance learning during the pandemic has been assessed by many educational institutions. St. Paul Minor Seminary, like other schools, also has been challenged in carrying out learning while still prioritizing the quality. One of the policies taken is the diaspora seminarian program – the students live in their home parishes or pastoral units closest to their place of residence. During the diaspora program, seminarians still get adequate and sustainable learning materials and spiritual assistance. For the success of this program and through this program, students will receive assistance on self-management during distance learning and how to use google classroom media in the learning process in general and in English writing specifically. The program was carried out by lecturing, mentoring, and practicing. The instruments used were questionnaires and tests. Participants in the activity are 37 final class students held in July - September 2020. By the end, feedbacks from participants gave the emphasis that the 2 materials were accepted by students and the google classroom application in writing activities could run with smooth. This can be seen from the results of the questionnaire and the results of the participants' English writing tests.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of job hopping on career development in the millennial generation in the city of Pelembang. The population in this study are employees of the millennial generation. The sample used was 95 respondents using purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is simple regression, used to predict the effect of job hopping on the career development of the millennial generation. In this study, data collection techniques were carried out using a questionnaire. The results showed that job hopping had an effect on the career development of millennial generation employees in the city of Palembang.

Abstract

Considering the arrangement of upcoming ASEAN Economic Community and Asian games 2018, the potential hotels are urged to prepare qualified and competitive human resource. Language is believed as a means of communication among people involved in these international events. People around the world would stay at certain hotel and English communication competence might relate the conversation between hotel guests and the employees as service provider agent. This study aims to excavate the role of English communication competence toward employees’ working achievement. About three hundreds and fifty three employees from forty four different star hotels in Palembang were involved as the sample. The data is collected by administering two kinds of instrument, namely speaking test (to obtain the condition of their communication competence), questionnaire concerning superior judgement on employees’ working achievement. The results were obtained through the descriptive, percentage, and statistical analysis which is aimed to find out the significant influence of English communication competence toward employee achievement. The findings showed that there was positive influence of English communication competence toward employee achievement.

Abstract

YouTube is definitely a digital platform that seems to be one of the most-used search engines nowadays. It offers an endless supply of authentic, real-life, up-to-date materials that may benefit English Language Teaching (ELT). This research aims to investigate to what extent the authentic materials through YouTube may benefit English Language Teaching of secondary education in Indonesia. This descriptive qualitative study employed questionnaires, classroom observations and textbook analysis as the data collection methods. A purposive sample of 125 XI graders of senior high school participated in this study. This primary research was followed by secondary one by reviewing recent literary works systematically. The results of the study suggest that Indonesian students seemingly need more exposure to English language and the advance of information and communication technologies (ICTs), particularly YouTube, is likely to foster English Language Teaching of secondary education in Indonesia since it provides abundant authentic materials related to real-life contexts.

Abstract

This public service activity was executedto generate the excitement of housewifes to improve the household economics condition. It is believed that everyone was their own strength for instance the ability in cooking, making crafts, gardening, and so on. But many people do not realize that those could be developed to reach better life. The method is in the form of counselling about the importance of housewif’s role in improving the household economic condition, skills, followed by training in designing appropriate business in accordance with their capabilities and skills. It includes the examples of creative products that can be practiced by housewifesbased on their talent and interests.

Abstract

In facing the new normal era, one of the things that must be improved by vocational school students is soft skills in the field of management, namely character building, as well as preparation for entering the online-oriented world of work is increasing the use of English in social media, especially to become independent entrepreneurs. This is the purpose of the service activities carried out by the UKMC team which were carried out at the SMK Xaverius Palembang vocational school on April 22, 2022 and May 13, 2022. The activity begins with understanding the material through lectures, followed by training and practice in class both individually and in groups. . The final result that is expected is that Xaverius Palembang Vocational School students can recognize personal characters through character building and use good English in social media so that they can become provisions in preparing for a better future.
